Conversion of the naves in DNG - color balance problems

Hello

I am wanting to use DNG with Color Checker Passport Xrite requiring a DNG create a camera profile.  I downloaded Adobe's DNG Converter, to convert the NAVE in a DNG and it does the job, but when you compare the NAVE and DNG, DNG format is completely different from the NAVE and it is completely blown out in terms of exposure and the color balance is terrible!

I am trying to create a camera profile for my studio where I use the flashes, but the DNG format is such poor quality compared to the NAVE, I know I'm doing something wrong!

Can anyone give me any help with this?

Thank you!

Hi PhotogJill,

I believe that the version of DNG converter that you use may be different.

As I said I used the steps above and you can see that when I did there is no difference in DNG and NEF.

And like you said putting the file in the same folder xmp, made the difference.

Can you please try the same thing with other NEF files and check the results?

    Tips: as you can set the mode of fusion to add or something like that, I would set the Alpha channel to channel completely in market and the R, G and B to Alpha. In this way, it darkens not - but your layer become completely opaque.

  • How to check the recently modified values for a color balance adjustment?

    I just did a simple color balance adjustment to a layer, changing tones and shadows, but I need to record the exact values that I adjusted, i.e. Cyan:-20, Magenta: + 4, etc. I forgot how much I've changed each of these properties and need to tell someone how to reproduce the adjustment.

    Is it possible to retrieve this information after you make the adjustment of color balance? When I return in the window of color balance once again, cursors have been reset to 0.

    Thank you!

    When you reopened the adjustment of color balance, did you press on cancel or OK?

    If you click Cancel and then use Ctrl + Alt + B and who can open the color

    layer before color balance, it won't work.

  • DNG Converter does not recognize the NAVE or ARW files

    Hi, I'm using CS5 and cannot open RAW files. I've already updated the plugin to 6.7 and I still can't open them, so I downloaded the DNG Converter, but it does not seem to recognize the NAVE or 2 different cameras ARW files. What's the deal here?

    In fact, leave it as what. The reason to change depends on if or not you need to convert for the widest compatibility with versions prior to leaving. for example, conversion of 6.6 allows you to open the DNG in CS5. (Curiously, 7.1 was not until CS6/CC, if I remember correctly, but maybe it's because your camera models. At least you know that setting is there in case you have problems.)

  • Is there a reason to save the original NEF files after import for the LR in the form of files 'convert to DNG?  Is there a reason to save the two versions?  The NAVE seems to have no further use other than too much hard drive space.

    Is there a reason to save the original NEF files after import for the LR in the form of files 'convert to DNG?  Why save versions when the DNG is the original and the NAVE seems to just take remote hard drive space?

    I see no reason to keep them, they take a lot of space, one of the reasons to convert to DNG is that they are almost 20% smaller than the ships.

    But it is of course your choice...

  • DNG, Crash, recover from the NAVE

    The hard drive with the DNG files I work with LR crashed. I have a return to the top of the original files as the NAVE. I currently convert the NEF files to DNG. I don't know if I wrote all developments to DNG files. What do I need enter the DNG files newly created in LR and keep the original developments.

    My hypothesis would be to work through to find the missing files. And I would be nice if the original developments are save in .lrcat without worrying if I wrote them to DNG files destroyed.

    Question: The my hypothesis is correct?

    Hi goetz.

    My hypothesis would be to work through to find the missing files. And I would be nice if the original developments are save in .lrcat without worrying if I wrote them to DNG files destroyed.

    If the Dng files are missing in Lightroom, your hypothesis should work when you move them in Lightroom.

    Let us know how it goes.

  • Pipette in the curve adjustment dialog box average pixels, so the color balance is watered.

    Hi all.

    When you use the pipette to set the points black and white pixels of an image in the dialog box curve setting, I found that it seems not middle of the neighbouring pixels or provide a way to select a value "monochrome".  Thus, the color balance is still impaired and is thrown way if you happen to choose a noisy pixel (for example).

    I expect that there is an option to set the size of the sampling for the pipette area, but I don't see one.  I have considered making the monochrome image, defining curves, save them as a preset, and then reload the image color and apply the preset (if she does not leave me); but this seems heavy and hokey.  What is the usual procedure to adjust the tone curve of the image without changing its color balance?

    Thanks for any idea.

    When you select an eyedropper in the curves adjustment dialog box, you went to the eyedropper tool.

    You then set the sample in the Options bar.

    In the curves adjustment layer, any pipette also has sample settings in the Options bar.

    Hello

    As far as I know or remember that you were never able to save the presets from color balance.

    Although I always wondered why it's never been applied.

    You can use an action or script to save the settings.

  • Unable to see the NAVE converted to DNG files in Photoshop CS

    Aloha, my laptop recently broke and I'm trying to restore my laptop to the way it was.  I use Photoshop CS and back in December 2009, I downloaded DNG Converter.  I use a Nikon D90, taken in RAW.  I don't remember what I did after download the DNG converter but I was able to convert the NEF files to DNG by simpling clicking DNG icon, select the file and click on convert and the NAVE were converted to DNG files.  I have used my Photoshop CS with these files covverted.  In the restoration of my laptop, I loaded my Photoshop CS program and then did a search online for the DNG Converter.  I found a version 5.6 and later a 6.3 version.  First of all, I downloaded version 5.6.  I then clicked on the icon, the selected files and click on convert.  I can see the pictures of the NAVE being converted.  However, when I went in my Photoshop CS program, I couldn't not all DNG files even though I saw the files being converted.  I downloaded the version 6.3 and got the same results.  Also, I went in change of preference and selected Camera Raw 2.4 and later.  But I well I see the files to be converted to DNG, I don't see any of these photos converted into my Photoshop CS program.  Can someone help me?  Am I missing a step or two?  I would be grateful y ' All expertise in this matter.  Also, anyone know how to uninstall one of these format DNG converters, I downloaded?  Thank you very much, Ron

    Well, I finally found the Web page I was looking for.  Go to the link below and scroll down the page until you get your version of Photoshop.  Camera Raw downloads are listed, and you should be able to find the readme file as you go through the process.  Follow the installation instructions exactly.  Let me know how the proven things.

  • IMPROVE the BRUTE &. DNG WORKFLOW IN PREMIERE and AFTER EFFECTS

    I am editor-in-Chief, and I work with raw. DNG files more over the past two years.

    Image with the RAW settings controls are amazing off course.

    But not the controls that Adobe provides to editing the .dng files. I find this workflow to be stoneaged, extremely devious and far from effective.

    THESE ARE THE METHODS of EDITING I USE (September 2016, adobe cc 2015.3):

    (1) for editing the .dng files I must interpret my shots with the RAW importer in After Effects. Then export every time with these settings in the format Prores out of After Effects. That will become the images then in first. The render time is huge, place to three days of rendering time for some projects of greater that I worked.

    (2) a very intensively and your working time is as follows:

    • Import each shot like .dng in first (one-by-one, at the same time is not possible (adobe feature request).)

    • In order to be able to change with it, you can edit the RAW temperature, tint, and exposure settings (adobe feature request: integrate all the raw settings as you did with Lumetri).

    • Then there are several ways to do it, I do it like this: I put all the photos in a calendar on the same layer.

    • I have duplicate all the shots to the upper layer.

    • I select all the photos duplicated and then right click: ' replace with after composition effects.

    • You go to sequels and then ask the parameters for each individual shot raw. You set the parameters of all your shots. You will only be able to see the first image of the sequence, so if you are working with a Committee of action, you will only be able to see the first image. (adobe feature request: make it scrollable of sequences of images, so within the RAW screen importer I wish I could scroll through other images of this sequence)

    > > You can open another frame of the sequence of images just from the finder and then open with photoshop, the RAW importer screen will invite, adjust the settings and then export these settings. Then - later - you can load these settings in After Effects by right-clicking the sequence in the project window and choose "replace footage > > file" and then it will prompt you again with the RAW importer window). Pfff, so sneaky and ineffective all together. (adobe feature request)

    • When the settings for all plans are finished, you will find all the plans in a composition. BUT these layers will appear UNFORTUNATELY have been interpreted as images (image .dng) instead of sequences of images (photos/film .dng). (adobe feature request)

    • Up to now, you go the project window and you select the first shot, do a right-click: "replace sequences > > leader." Select the first file .dng and enter. The RAW importer appears again, thank God he reminded of the settings that you have applied to this .dng, os, you don't have to do it all over again.

    • You repeat this operation for all your shots.

    • Then in your timeline first you should have two layers with the same shots, the linked AE comp will be with the interpretations of right and the bottom layer with the original .dng files. You can enable or disable the layer on and outside, by providing a much faster workflow for editing. Type to have created a proxy system.

    -But then a European problem can occur: If all the shots in the AE comp seem to be shorter then in your timeline in first you do this:

    • In After Effects, go first .dng sequence in your project window. Right click, choose "film > > main.

    • You can select the frame rate, set it to 25 if you are working with 25 images per image (to check in settings to create sequence) captures. (adobe feature request: use the same rate for this interpretation as first has done, or ask, and remember this choice)

    • THEN, SEVERAL HOURS LATER, depends on how much you have pictures, you can begin to find a way to edit first. You can nest the sequence in which the original dng sequences and the composition of linked EI are superimposed. If you do not have to edit with two videos and several audio blocks above the other.

    For editing with the org .dng files, you can adjust the base temperature BRUTE, hue settings and exposure in first, so you can see what you're doing. For most RAW images are very dark without the RAW settings, so who can help when your first change in flow when the AE comp is off.

    • When you want to change the raw settings, you can go to sequels, open the project and then choose: "replace footage > > leader." Then importing RAW window again and you can make the change. It is now automatically charged also in first due comp system that you built.

    For a film RED and ALEXA it's organized all much better...

    So now I ask Adobe:

    WHY is WHY WHY like that?

    Two years ago, it remains unchanged.

    I am a very big ADOBE fan and faithful, programs and innovations are impressive. Lumetri is impressive. I hoped he would also modify the RAW data, but unfortunately it doesn't.

    This lack of a good system of RAW editing really pushes me away Adobe right now. This isn't a professional workflow.

    If several editors have the same types of problems, please reply to this post with your opinion.

    Perhaps, it helps a little pushing Adobe to change this.

    And if someone has a big piece of something I'm missing, please please enlighten me. I won't be arrogant kind.

    I can't find the right answer to this workflow of the stone age, and I guess that most people will know it.

    WHY is WHY WHY like that?

    I'm not convinced that it is.

    The only part of your post, I found valid is where clips must be imported one at a time.  It's true, and Adobe certainly should to address the issue.  But both, Blackmagic and other responsible camera must also decide, releasing updates of firmware that create the MXF files to hold the CinemaDNG RAW images, audio, time code metadata and in a single file.    No records, no covering.  A clip, a single file.

    This is technically possible and it is the best option in all areas.  For each Adobe feature request, so we need to request a Blackmagic as well. Two actually, because changing the way in which the cameras record is good the best option.

    Other than this one problem, I don't see where everything you do is necessary.  Lumetri now accesses the RAW data in images CinemaDNG, is not only an effect on top as fast color corrector.

    Using the new feature of Proxy editing is done MUCH easier.

    I see no need for the AE in the pipeline.

  • indicator of persistent page (for the nav button)

    Hello

    Read the tutorial for persistent page indicator. My setup is a little different - but I'm very close now. Just need a tweak.

    The body tag of the page where I want the nav button to stay in color highlighted calls for:

    < body class = "Home" >

    Then, in the code to take account of the effect, I have:

    Body.Home #MenuBar a.home,

    A.about #MenuBar body.about,

    Body.contact #MenuBar a.contact

    Body.News #MenuBar a.news

    Body.portfolio #MenuBar a.other {}

    color: #FFF;

    Background: #666666;

    border: none;

    }

    The home button brings out successfully in the browser, but the text in the button changes not not to #FFF. It remains the same color as all the other link txt in these buttons.

    The code to adjust them is:

    #MenuBar. MenuItem. MenuItemLabel {/ * the txt here color control font nav color * /}

    text-align: left;

    line-height: 1.4em;

    Color: #666666;

    Width: 10em;

    Width: auto;

    padding-top: 8px;

    padding-right: 25px;

    padding-bottom: 8px;

    padding-left: 15px;

    }

    Should I write a class of exception for a.home? How?  -The html markup are called in typical class links (a class = 'blah')

    Thank you.

    Ah, I've been able to add a span around this page link tag a nav for persistent aspect button - worked!

    I was looking for a simple solution because it is somewhat obsolete game upward for the nav, I am certain (spry menu)...

    One day if I completely reorganize the site, I'd build out quite differently now that things like Bootstrap, etc, exist.

    Thank you, glad to see a result after hours of playing with it.

  • LR 4 V 4.4: Does not recognize the NAVE of Nikon D610 files.  What is the reference for this?

    I have Lightroom 4, version 4.4, and it will not recognize the NAVE of Nikon D610 files.  This version recognizes my NAVE of Nikon D800 files.  What is the problem and what is the solution?  Thank you.

    To get direct support D610, you must at least 5.3 Lightroom. If you don't want to update to Lightroom, you can get support for the camera the LR 4 by translating your NEF files to DNG using free Adobe dng converter.

    Got them all,

    Convert NEF file to DNG files in this size of process files are double Nikon?

    Is this normal? What is the reason?

    Thank you

    OP simply refers to the "original" poster I was able to extract that the NAVE of the DNG file files and then run it through the DNG Converter again. Without the built-in NEF file, the size of the DNG file was 8,66 MB. Is there a change Preferences button to the bottom of the screen of the DNG Converter. You need to go into the preferences and do not forget to deselect the option.
