  Have you tried clicking on the icon in the Mac App Store to see what is happening? In the past, the Mac App Store will say that version will not run on your operating system & offer to download the latest compatible version. I don't think this has changed, but I don't have a Mac in El Capitan to try.

  I was wondering if there was a way to automatically convert a pages document to a word document without having to manually export all the time.

  I know that the forum was posted by 2013 an old version pages (4.3). I am currently using the latest version of the (5.6.2) pages and office 2016

  I gave two solutions (your question was not clear), try the below code:

  (1) all the elements of the document will be changed to "Layer 1"

  I was working on a document in Pages. Many hours of work. I don't remember if I had saved. I think I have always been able to find a doc when I opened the program before.

  I thought that pages had an automatic backup.

  Looking through discussions of Apple, I can find no later than 2011 data and Lion discussing this?

  I did a search with Spotlight for a doc without title but without success.

  Any suggestions / information?

  I realize that it was reckless to not save...

  You don't have to manually save and name the document before AutoSave will work.

• How can I edit a copy scanned pages in El Capitan

  I scanned a document and now need to change it. It's in the preview, I use a MacMini running El Capitan, I get just a hand symbol which does ' t allow the amendment.

  Preview is a PDF annotation tool, which adds layers of annotations on your actual content of PDF. Preview is not however, a PDF Editor, so you cannot change the actual content of PDF itself. You will need Adobe Acrobat DC Pro, or the OS X App Store, PDFEdit Pro is a possibility. Provider site has a download of trial available.

• 4.3 pages converted Pages 5.6.1 - does not directly open on another Mac

  Here's the situation: I hate with a passion 5.6.1 Pages and refuse to use it unless absolutely necessary. My boss, however, only uses Pages 5.6.1.

  So when I create a document that subsequently, he will have to work with, I use my beloved 4.3 Pages, then close this document, open it in Pages 5.6.1 and it save back to the most recent Pages.

  But now, I discovered through experimentation that the problem goes much deeper than I thought. I have:

  • created a document Pages 4.3, then copied its content, has opened a new document Pages 5.6.1 and pasted these materials it contains, and then saved.
  • created a document Pages 4.3, it reproduced in the Finder, then opens the document in Pages 5.6.1 and selected "Upgrade".
  • created completely from scratch in 5.6.1 Pages document and saved.

  In ALL THREE cases, when I sent this document to my boss's Mac and saved it on his desk, the document doesn't always opens directly by double-clicking. I always get the "missing .xml file.

  What can possibly happen here? Is it a setting on his Mac or mine? The fact that I have all the documents Pages on my series of Mac to open by default in the Pages 4.3 has something to do with it? This doesn't make much sense, but that's all I can think about.

  What is the path of this dilemma, other than abandonment 4.3 Pages altogether and purge it of my system, that I absolutely refuse to do?

  Your boss has a Pages ' 09 v4.3 and Pages v5.6.1 installed on your Mac. The index.xml file is unique to the Pages ' 09 and earlier documents. He tried to open your v5.6.1 document Pages with Pages ' 09, and rightly so, he complained the index.xml file missing.

  If the Pages ' 09 is running, it will be an ambush any attempt to open any document Pages of version - including through double click. This can be avoided in smoking expressly the application of Pages ' 09. Using the red light on the title bar of the document closes the document Pages ' 09, but does not terminate the application.   When two versions of Pages are installed on the same Mac and are running, then the higher version (e.g. Pages v5.6.1) will have priority on the opening of any document Pages. Get Info: Open with parameters are unnecessary in the case of Pages.

  I am a writer with a couple dozen books with Pages 09. It worked perfectly for my writing needs. I write explanations for a standardized test and have a fixed pattern that I complete. My workflow is as follows:

  • Fill the new book in model
  • Save as adobe PDF, publication in the press
  • Paste script in the Web site for the web version of html. (I do this explanation of the explanation)

  Pages is not a layout like indesign program. However, using column/page/layout breaks, I did a completely stable model that satisfies my needs.

  Because the system worked so well, I continued using, because I didn't want to be distracted from writing by the format conversion. However, it is now time to do - I can't rely on the Pages09 of work forever.

  I'm testing Pages13 and Word (mac version) to see if they allow me to keep the same workflow. I intend to do the bulk of the conversion of myself, that I'm the one who knows my quite specific needs, and I can handle the formatting. However, I can run in some points where I need outside help.

  This forum has been a great help with questions of Pages in the past, so I thought you might know: is there someone who does (paid) consultation for Pages09/13 and also the word?

  In any case have a game with 13 Pages (5 Pages) with spare copies of your documents. But be aware that 5 Pages does not support pages in opposite (different left and right pages) or interruptions of the layout.

  I've recently updated to a new MacBook, Pages 5.6.1. I opened a document in pages with linked text boxes. When I hover the cursor text box anchor turns to resize. I tried a few different things so he can link from one page to another, but have not been able to do. I also tried to get rid of the text boxes by converting word processing. That did not work. How I flow the text into a document with multiple pages? Thank you.

  Any rejection of Pages v5 supports the text box that connects and will cancel this feature not supported when you open a document in Pages ' 09. If you allow Pages v5 convert Pages ' 09 to v5 Pages, your unique ' 09 pages document original will be lost. I recommend you leave v5.6.1 Pages without save this document, make a copy and work with the copy of the later document changes.

  

  Your statement that you upgraded to a newer MacBook suggests that you no longer have Pages ' 09 installed on it. I suggest that you open this Pages ' 09 document (copy) in a single window of v5.6.1 Pages and start with a new document in another. These should be the names of various documents.

  Where you want replicated areas of text, copy and paste the text box from the old to a new document. If you would like content box text related to flow without text boxes, then copy and paste the contents of the text boxes in the new document in the proper order. Pages will flow this content on multiple pages in a given section.

  Although you can install the iWork ' 09 DVD Yosemite and El Capitan detail, it must be updated with updated Apple iWork ' 09. Not all Pages ' 09 v4.3 features continue to function, or completely in these recent versions of Mac OS X and there as no assurance of how long the product will continue to work at all.

  You are using v4.3 Pages ' 09, or v5.6.2 Pages to translate and export the Word (.doc) and ePub documents?

  Have you read the free Smashwords Guide of Style (Smashwords iBooks research style)? It was written assuming that the file .doc to power the Meatgrinder Smashwords was saved from MS Word, or one of the words of OpenOffice/LibreOffice clones for maximum compatibility. Yes, they offer you can use Apple product Pages (probably in reference to Pages ' 09). However, neither page is a clone of Word and considerable translation occurs in the document format Pages internal through export to a Word .doc document. Apple offers No warranty or recourse for the accuracy of the translation. Want more precision? Use MS Word.

  Smashwords indicates that the highest incident of discards of book and form memories ePub problems. They argue that, unless these are professionally designed and created, it is better to submit to the Word .doc format. No request for Pages is a professional quality processor, or generator of ePub.

  I start the document with a blank section. That's where I generate Table of contents of the document. The aforementioned book recommended to delete all the text boxes in the final Word document before submitting it to Smashwords - because they confuse the trainer.
