Cookie exceptions list not preserved/applied for use in private browsing mode.

I prefer to use private browsing, but were not able to as cookie exceptions are not retained, who disappears from the privacy settings when Fx closes.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

  • Do NOT click on the reset button on the start safe mode window or make changes.

In case you use "clear history of Firefox closing:

  • do not delete Cookies
  • do not delete Site preferences

Note that compensation "Preferences of Site" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, windows pop up, installation of software and passwords.

For some reason, I can't respond to any comment of Google Plus on any Google service when Firefox is in normal browse mode. However, I can answer all the comments from Google over YouTube and Google more in private browsing mode. Google Plus comments work as well in Chrome. • ADMITTED that Cookies exceptions list does not keep the entries from one session to another.

YES, I searched the KB for a response... no joy. I want to manage my cookies by adding a few sites I want to allow cookies for, with all the other sites being rejected and me be prompted whenever a site wants to dnld a cookie. I think I understand all of the available settings, but I can't bet FF to keep the list of allowed websites from one session to another, and sometimes FF keeps their same immediately after I save them. I've never had a problem with FF3, but now I'm having this problem with FF4.

You can't keep cookies if you run Firefox in private browsing mode.

Private - browsing using Firefox without saving history all cookies are session cookies that expire if this session is over, so sites don't remember you.

  • Signed extension presents itself as "could not be verified for use in Firefox.

I have an extension that was signed by Mozilla that shows like 'could not be verified for use in Firefox. Proceed with caution"in the Add-ons Manager. I installed the extension by copying the file in ~/Library/Application Support / < provider > /Extensions/{id}/@name.xpi on OSX and %appdata%\Mozilla\Extensions\{id}\@name.xpi on Windows. When restarting Firefox 42 extension installs and works fine, except for the disturbing message. However, when I install the extension by dragging on the Firefox window, he moved very well and does NOT display the disturbing message.

Is this a bug in Firefox or I install my incorrect extension and is incomplete documentation to https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/Installing_extensions ?

  • I did NOT 'save passwords' check and is in private browsing mode - but are still saved my pw. ZERO password indicated @ 'saved passwd '. How to solve?

    We found the problem.

One of the Firefox Add some PLUGINs ON record our passwords.

We have removed the plugin. (Ironically, it was "MaskMe", a plug-in that supposedly help to privacy but rather secure our passwords saved for everything).

Sorry for the confusion. Care for others - do not use 'MaskMe', unless you want ALL your passwords and information connection recorded on a questionable site 'confidence' and autofilled whenever you don't want it to be.

  • One can see the cookies of session in private browsing mode - see only normal cookies.

    Using Firefox 19.0.2

Is it possible to allow Firefox to display ONLY the cookies of the current session in private browsing mode, rather than a list of my regular cookies?

First, basic cookies management seem to work fine for me, in both normal mode and private browsing: Cookies set during private browsing are removed as expected when you exit Firefox or switch to normal navigation.

    HOWEVER...

I can't SEE the new cookies set during a private browsing session.

If I start Firefox normally, switch to private browsing mode and then go to Options > show Cookies, the window opens showing a long list of my 'normal' cookies

Previously, the cookies window seems to be EMPTY at the start of a private browsing session. After a while of browsing and then recheck the list I see only the cookies set in this private browsing session.

Now, during a private session, when I re - check the list of cookies for navigation I see my regular cookies, and NONE of the new session cookies appear in this list (the same cookies appear as before switching to the private mode).

I tried to start Firefox in Mode safe, without a change in behavior. I also tried to disable the modules, without change.

    List of installed modules:

    Adblock Plus 2.2.3
    BetterPrivacy 1.6.8
    Ghostery 2.9.3
    Googlebar Lite 4.9.7
    IE View 1.5.6
    MICROSOFT.NET Framework Assistant 1.3.1
    PrivacyChoice TrackerBlock 2.2
    Status-4-Evar 2013.02.16.23
    Bookmark Favicon changer 1.74 (disabled)
    CheckPlaces 2.6.2 (disabled)

  • Private browsing mode does not work

I've been without a pc for a while, now have a new with Windows 10. Just downloaded latest Firefox. I put it to always open in private browsing mode. But it does not work. When I close the browser, and then re - opening, my start page is not display the mask or indicate private browsing. I can get it in the usual way, just right-click on the icon that gives you options to open the new window or a private.
I tried to turn on/off the navigation mode private the several times, still no luck.

Probably, you won't see the purple mask of private browsing mode when you are in permanent PB mode because all windows are automatically in PB mode.
You will see the mask when Firefox is started in normal mode and you open a new private window.

You can use an extension for private browsing mode support tab.

  • The format for a specific Web site is displayed wrong, but it works fine in other browsers and Firefox's private browsing mode. What gives?

Instead of having the sidebar on the left, I have the sidebar on the right and a big empty space where the text should be. The text is moved to the bottom of the empty space for me. I tried the cookies/cache forces the reload and total emptying, and I am sure that no change of format for manual Web site have been brought. I can see the site very well in other browsers and even in private browsing mode, so I have no idea why it is like that for me. Any help?
