Creation of multiple dimensions with the rule files

Hello
Is it posible to create multiple dimensions using rules file. I managed to create 1 Dimension using the rules file, but I need to create two dimension using rules (customer and Distribution_Channel) file.
Help, please.

-Amit

Hello

You need the files in separate rules for the construction of separate dimensions.
You can use the same metadata file well.

So, you must create 3 files of rules for the 3 dimensions.

  • Construction of dimension with a rules file for Hyperion Planning

    Hello Experts!

I'm on version 11.1.1.3. I created a classic with 3 Hyperion Planning application plan types, and in EA I have successfully downloaded the same members of dimension entity with the same rules file in each of the 3 contours under my application from HP. Then I've also updated database in the Planning, but I don't see any new dimension member in HP. - could someone help me with what is wrong? Hyperion Planning of work with files of rules for dimension is not build? Thanks in advance!

No planning does not work with the rule files, you must load dimensions information directly in the planning, and then push it to essbase.

  • Essbase error when you try to change the dimension through the rule files

    Hi Knowledgebank.

I'm new to Essbase. I'm trying to change my dimension through the rule files and Iam getting error (Dimension build setings).

    Example:

    My current dimensiion is:

    MARKET TOTAL
    ASIA
    Singapore
    CHINA
    HONG KONG
    NORTH AMERICA
    SOUTH AMERICA

I am trying to add a few new countries of SOUTH AMERICA and I can't. Is there a step by step guide to achieve this?
I'm following the documentationi but still errors.

Help on this is going to help me go further.

Note:-I am able to load the data successfully.
'TOTAL MARKET' 'COUNTRY'--> header I have jump while loading
    'SOUTH AMERICA' 'BRAZIL '.
    'SOUTH AMERICA' 'ARGENTINA '.

As above, your first file is correct if you use generation referance.
Your mapping in the rules file should be like this.
Gen2, Gen3 TOTAL MARKET, MARKET TOTAL
    'SOUTH AMERICA' 'BRAZIL '.
    'SOUTH AMERICA' 'ARGENTINA '.

For generation Referance always starts on Gen2.
Gen1 sets the level of the dimension. If the dimension is not there, you must set in the definition of dimension not in Field1.

  • Build dimension using the rules file

I use Oracle Hyperion worm 9.3.1. So that the dimensions of formatting built using the rule file, I came across the 'JOIN' and 'Create Join using' options. Can someone help me to know the difference between these two options?

    Published by: 873675 on July 20, 2011 12:25 AM

The documentation explains the difference with examples, now I was going to post the link, but I might as well post the info from the link.

    Join the fields

You can join several fields into one. The new field is given the name of the first field in the join. For example, if a data source has separate fields for the number of product (100) and the family of products (-10), you must join the fields (100-10) before loading in the Sample.Basic database.

Create a field by joining fields

You can reach the fields by placing fields joined in a new field. This procedure leaves intact original fields. Creating a field is useful if you need concatenate the fields of the data source to create a member.

For example, if a data source has separate fields for the number of product (100) and the family of products (-10), you must join the fields (100-10) before loading in the Sample.Basic database. If, however, you want to keep the two existing fields in the data source, you can create a field (100-10) using a join. The data source includes now all three fields (100, - 10 and 100-10).

  • Multiple images with the same file name no doubt prevent export

iMac running OS X El Capitan v10.11.6; Photos 1.5

I'm trying to export approximately 331 images and I get an error report saying that only 169 of the exported images due to the inability to create files for 159 of the images.  Then the report gives me the names of files of the first 100 images for which files were not created.  After looking at many images that would not create a file, I realized that, in any case, there was at least one, if not several, other images with the SAME EXACT FILE name as the image in question.  I can't change the names of files by right click on "info".  I tried to export the images and change the names of files to export using the sequential option and the option of album name - always having exactly the same problem.  I even tried not to export an image at once and change the name of the file individually or no available. Is there a work around that? I desperately need to export those specific images. I am trying to create a photo album for shown to mothers who choose a family with which you want to place their child/ren for adoption. I'm at my wit's end.  The kicker is I'm moving towards trying to export all my pictures, and that's going to be a HUGE problem in course for me, so I really hope that there is a way around this question somewhat simply. I am a hobby photographer and use the computer for businesses and crafts.  I've seen a few posts that included answers referencing "AppleScript" - I have no idea how to do something like that.

From here on I will DEFINITELY ensure that my Canon continually numbers the names of image files and automatically resets.  For the other photos other than Canon, is possible to rename images during the import of the lot?

All advice and help will be GREATLY appreciated!

Finder has the ability to rename files with various models of lot.  Simply select all the files to rename, right-click one of the selected files, choose 'Rename X points... '. ", and then set the options and click on the button"Rename ".

  • Type of Dimension set using the Rules file

    Hello

I tried to build a dimension (ASO) of accounts using the build parent-child and wanted to know if we can specify the dimension type "Account" to in the rules file?
Also all the codes of the property can be given in a single column or placing them in separate columns a good practice? I need to make this hierarchy of dimension as 'dynamic '.

I use the definition of dimension of the rules file option name.

    Thanks for your contributions!

Yes you can do it in a rules file. In the setting dimension dialog box, go to the third tab. You can see the list of dimensions and the possibility of adding dimensions. Right-click on the desired size and then select Edit properties. Then, you can set the dimension type and dimension member properties.
With regard to the properties. I always keep in separate columns of my source.

  • ATTRPARENT dimension of the text attribute to several levels of construction with a rules file

    Hello

    My first post here.

I'm trying to create the dimension generation rule to create a dimension of the multilevel text attribute and then combine with the basic dimension.

    So far, it is difficult.

    With regard to my experience:

-J' have a relatively basic understanding of the rules of charge both with regard to the data loads and define the updates - I find this quite confusing area and the documentation does not help that much

-J' only started using dimensions attribute, so for me it's a new concept, but we are already quite useful in certain applications

-J' I try to automate the process of construction of dimension attribute, and then associating attributes with the basic dimension

I use the following documentation as a guide:

Building size attribute and associate attributes

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E12825_01/EPM.111/esb_dbag/frameset.htm?dotdimb.htm

    and / or

Work with the attribute multi-level Dimensions

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E26232_01/doc.11122/esb_dbag/frameset.htm?ch21s06s05.html

(essentially the same source in both cases)

The ultimate goal is to replicate one of our existing recently created attribute dimensions of a cube to another.

I built a few versions of the required flat file and the corresponding rules file, but none worked.

I tend to get the following validation error message:

This field is defined as an ATTRPARENT. The following column must be a field of association attribute type.

As I got stuck so I gave to the current actual attributes and moved on to experimenting with the sample / base cube.

I built a flat file that is supposed to create a new dimension of text attribute named ABC with two attributes level structure:

    ABC

    A

    AA

    AB

    B

    BA

    BB

and associate it with the dimension of the product in the following way

    200-10 AA

    200-20 AB

    200-30 BA

    200-40 BB

The flat file looks like this:

    "AA"      "A"         "200-10"               "A"         "AA"      "200"

    "AB"      "A"         "200-20"               "A"         "AB"      "200"

    "AB"      "B"         "200-30"               "B"         "AB"      "200"

    "BB"       "B"         "200-40"               "B"         "BB"       "200"

and the rule file has 6 matching columns with titles as follows:

    Level0, LEVEL1 ABC, ABC Level0, product ATTRPARENT0, ABC ABC0, LEVEL1 product, product

all agree with what the documentation says.

The first 2 columns are intended to define and create the dimension of the attribute, while the 4 next make association...

I couldn't the above rules file to validate.

The same validation error message appeared as previously:

This field is defined as an ATTRPARENT. The following column must be a field of association attribute type.

However when I tried to actually update the outline of the mistakes of dimbuild.err file has been created which gives some additional clues:

\\ATTRPARENT column 4 must precede a numeric or datetime column attribute association

    Now... Finally the interesting part...

    Back to the documentation...

I don't mind if the size of the attribute is generated and then those associated with step or in two separate steps.

I try to do both tasks in one step only because that's what the documentation seems to suggest attributes at several levels.

    First of all I read:

    Note:

If you work with a multilevel dimension attribute or with a dimension of the attribute of the digital type, Boolean, or date, the rules file requires an additional field. See working with Dimensions of the multilevel attribute.

Yes, I work with a dimension of the multilevel attribute so the above statement applies (I guess) and so I'm going to see what works with several levels attribute Dimensions has to say.

    Then, I read:

When an attribute is part of a digital multi-level, Boolean, or dimension attribute date, the source data must include columns for all generations or the size of the attribute levels.

Fair enough... so I do what they say... my attribute dimension is at several levels, so I can assume that the statement above applies...

So, I build my rule in accordance with the guidelines above.

And then, as we have already mentioned, I get the error message about ATTRPARENT and when I read, it turns out that ATTRBPAREN cannot be used for numeric or date attribute dimensions !

I'm totally confused at this point.

What about the attribute text multi-level dimensions ?

They are several levels but they are NOT numeric or date those!

The documentation does not seem to tell what to do in this case...

    Anyone build something like that?

What is the thing that I'm missing?

    What about

I'm glad that you got to work. I tested and that is to create the dimension attribute and associate it with the rule of the load.

You could ignore the construction size manually. Remove the attribute dimension. The rule1 go for the Dimension settings under the definition of Dimension tab. Then right-click on the product and change the properties. On the attribute tab, add 'Test' or whatever you want to call the attribute, and assign the text type. He adds the attribute and associate it with the basic dimension when it create the hierarchy. Note that the rules could actually be reversed where you create members of level 0 and then more later to create the hierarchy.  Of course you must pass the size of the attribute association to the other rule

  • Problem with the rule while the data is loading files

    Hello

I'm having a problem trying to load data to an application that uses rules files. Load data files were from another application using the DATAEXPORT. I have two files for each entity. One is for the current year and one for next year. The source and target applications are different, so I do all the mapping using rule files.

The data of the current year file contains data for CurrMonth:Dec & CurrYear. The following year data file contains data for Jan: Dec and the next. I made rules for each entity files load data into the application and has made the mapping when creating these rules files using set 12 months.

The problem that I am facing is that I'm able to correctly load the following year in the target application, my rules file is the right month for each column mapping. But for the year underway, I have just 2 columns of data (whereas & CurrMonth = Nov) and so when I'm trying to load the data file using the rules file, it is to map the November and December months like January and February and charging at these months of FY11, which is false.

I don't know how to solve this problem. The current year data file it will always change in terms of months then how can I modify the rules that he recognizes that the months are coming in and where to put the data.

Please let me know your suggestions. Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you!
    ~ Hervé

PS ~ it was the same problem, I was faced with a few months back when I posted this question and I followed the advice in this post, but always faced to the question - DATAEXPORT and rules files

Published by: Gwen on December 20, 2011 08:25

    Adella,
We have faced a similar issue and we were able to solve it by sticking to these months dimension members (& currmonth: dec) and generate the header
The export file created when paste us the dimension names in front of months on the export file
Suppose that your export file is currmonth.txt and she Nov and Dec
first line of your export file should look like this
'Version' 'Year' 'Scenario' "XYZ" "123" "ABC" "Account", "Nov", "Dec".
We have created a batch file to add this to the original export file, it looks like this
    Paste d "\0" Header.txt "D:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer\app\xyz\123\currmonth.txt" > "D:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer\app\xyz\121\currmonthchange.txt".

Header.txt is a text file that it contains ("Version" "Year" "Scénario" "XYZ" "123" "ABC" "count")

change your rules file so that it generates the header in your source (currmonthchange.txt)

rulefile--> the properties of data source--> header--> data records source header--> recording containing the names of data filed charge (set 1)

I hope this will solve your problem

  • How to get the substring of the field in the rules file

    Hello

I use the Hyperion Essbase 11.1.2.3 version and try to build the size of the area. I have the Code area and description of the region in the source file. But the Description of the region is preceded with another character. Example - "AXX - Asia", "NXX - Netherland" and etc. I don't want to exclude "AXX -", "NXX" - during the generation of dimension. Please could you let me know how to remove these characters through rule files. I want to just generate rule with region Code file and description of the region without these extra characters.

    Source file:

    Region code | Region / / Desc

    AP | AXX - Asia

    NL | NXX - Netherland

    Build of contour should be:

    -AP (Alias: Asia)

    -NL (Alias: Netherland)

    Thank you

    Michel K

Deker suggestion (using find and replace) is useful if you have a list of possible prefixes and that you are happy to have to update the rules file every time that this list is growing. I'm not a fan of this, personally.

If the prefix length is always three characters then you must separate the first six characters of the code (the three characters and then space, hyphen, space). This creates two fields of the original; you ignore the first one and then use the second as an alias.

To split a field into a State of charge, see: splitting fields

  • How to reject the week 41 to 52 from 2007 data in the rules file

    Hello
I must dismiss 2007W41 2007W52 according to load data, which means I want just the data up to 2007W40.

Now until I've done is I edited the rule files went to select the Time column > folders > reject > since I have to dismiss more than one, I chose 'and '.

the field is displayed as "Time" at the top

Type string / number of Condition
    String 2007W41 contains

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here?

    Thanks in advance...

I think that you read it wrong
    Think of the string aaaaa

To make the rejection criteria in engilish. You want to deny if the string contains aaaa or bath
IF you reject if the string contains yyyy which is good and meets the criteria
If you add and the string contains bbbb it is no longer true because he dones do not contain benamer

If my thong was aaaabbbb then the and would work

If you use a non contains, then youwould have to employ the and instead of the or.
IF the string does not contian aaaa and does not bbbb

All this should not be confused with the global and/or logic that works on multiple columns

    Hello

IAM trying to create a rule to load for the fresh Essbase cube associated with the Hyperion Planning Application. We having 14 Dimensions (including the HSP_Rates Dimension).

The falt file used to generate the rule file has columns related to the 13 dimensions as well as the data as the 14th column column. When I validate the rules file, he said "the rules file is correct for the loading of the data.

My concern here is iam not taking care of Member Dimnesion related to the Dimension of "HSP_Rates" (not even as the Difinition of the header). I'm doing something wrong here? How validation can MOVE independently without taking into account one dimension?

    Any response is greatly appreciated.

You should charge against 'HSP_InputValue' in the HSP_Rates dimension, i.e. where the input values must be loaded.

  • Why list of members of the period cannot be used in the rule file to limit the period?

    Hello

HFM, I created a list of members period in the members list file.

    for example:

    Dim aPeriodLists (9)

If HS. Dimension = 'Period' Then

    aPeriodLists (1) = "[FcstActMths]".

    ......

    ......

    ===========================

ElseIf HS. Dimension = 'Period' Then

If HS. MemberListID = 1 Then

    HS. AddMembertoList "January".

    HS. AddMembertoList "February".

    ===========================

then in the rules file, I created a rule ondemand for datacopy real forecasts, but want to copy for the period of the membership list [FcstActMths].

so as a rule I tried below:

    ......

    For each povPeriod in Hs.Period.List("","[FcstActMths]")

    .......

but it does not work, the error indicates:

object does not support this property or method HS. Period.List.

    =====================================================================================================================

Then I found that, for the function of list of the object are not period dimension.

But what I want is efficiency above.

Is there another way could do?

    =====================================================================================================================

I also tried to create the array, like this:

    Dim FcstActMths

    FcstActMths = Array ("January", "February")

    ..........................

    For each povPeriod in FcstActMths

    .........................

    =====================================================================================================================

has not worked either, during the race, the table cannot limit in time that we select...

    Hello

The reason why the rules does not run is because you canmot run rules

for each period of your table, but only for the month that is on your

    Current POV.

On this basis, you must change your rules and write something similar to:

    Table = (month1, Month2,... monthX)

If instr (table, current month) > 0 then

    Run rules

    End if

    I'm sure it will work.

  • deleting a dminesion in the rules file.

    Hello

We have an obligation to delete the dimensions before bulding metadata (for a cube of BSo), so can someone help me how to remove the rules hroguh dimensiont file.

    Thanks in advacne

You cannot delete a dimension via a rules file.  Do you mean you want to delete all members before you rebuild the same dimension or actually delete the dimension altogether?

The only way to remove a side is to have a 'model' or 'stub' expose without the dimension, and then copy it to your real contour (probably after erasure of all data).  If what you really want is to rebuild the dimension that contains only members in your source, then the build dimension 'Remove' unspecified setting can be used.

    Hi all

I am facing a strange problem while loading data by using a rules file:

    1. I don't get any error/kick. It gives fair attention No. data values are modified by this data file loading. But nothing will load inside.

    2. I tried with Maxl and directly from EAS but gettting same warning.

3 has tried to block sending n to entires in the data file and it does not work (so no Dynamics members etc..)

    4. rule file validates correctly.

    5. I tried with different types of different files (Csv, Xls, Txt, etc.) but no luck.

Any suggestions / ideas of what could be bad?

Don't know what exactly was the problem, but I recreated the rule files and it solved the problem... May be a case of corrupted file rule?
