Crop a photo using Photo Gallery

I try to crop a photo in the photo gallery - used to be able to crop the photo then wud get a new picture out of it - it does not work now.  Can someone help me.  I hv Vista (if that makes a difference).  He things r to pic I want to eliminate the "culture" or try to do but cannot make it work.  What I am doing wrong?  TKS.

Moved to Vista

Here's a way to do it.  In fact, I use myself a lot when taking pictures of this site (and because the program Paint is available on all of my computers without having to install anything).

  1. After selecting the zone, copy again (it will copy just the selected rectangle)
  2. Start a new painting file (press Ctrl-N shortcut to start a new file)
  3. Paste the newly copied image (that you copied in step 1)
  4. Save the file.

---

If you want a more powerful image editor, Microsoft still provides the free photos of Windows Essentials app, which is optimal for the crops.  Example below (I already have some instructions on this subject for another user).

In this demo, I use the Microsoft Photo Gallery program, which has been updated in the Windows Essentials package.

You may need to crop photos to the size you want

    Photo Gallery

    Hello Stormisbest,

Thank you for your message.  After researching this issue, it seems that you get an error related to HP at the start.  Most users seem to have corrected it using the HP disc that came with their computer when they are invited at the entrance of the original disc.

  • I can't open the .jpg files from the desktop using "Windows Photo Gallery" as the default program. They open normally from nowhere elsewhere, but not directly from the desktop. No error, nothing happens.

If I right click 'open with' open with other programs like IE but not "Windows Photo Gallery". It is not a specific .jpg file, this is all .jpg files. For example... I have a .jpg file in a folder on my desktop, open folder double click, it will open in the "Windows Photo Gallery". Copy and paste the SAME file on the desktop, double-click on, nothing happens. I tried to restart, change the default value of IE, open the file, it opens, by default change to "Windows Photo Gallery" doesn't work... I am confused?

    Hello

Welcome to the community of Windows Vista answers.

    Method 1:

This can happen in the database that keeps track of all the photos and videos in your collection is damaged. You can rebuild your database by:

    (1) close Windows Live Photo Gallery

    (2) · Click Start

    (3) · Click on my computer

    (4) · Paste this address into the address field %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Photo Gallery

    (5) · Right-click Pictures.pd5

    (6) click on rename

    (7) · Change the name of the file to OLD_Pictures.pd5

    (8) · Restart the computer and then try to open the Windows Photo Gallery.

    Method 2:
Try using the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to check and repair corrupt system files.  To do this, follow these steps:

    How to run scan SFC

    1. click on the Start button

    2. on the Start Menu, click all programs followed by accessories

    3. in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option

    4. in the drop-down menu that appears, click the "Run as Administrator" option

5 If you have the enabled User Account Control (UAC) you will be asked to consent to the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.

    6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow then press enter

    7. a message is displayed to indicate that "the analysis of the system will start.

    8. be patient because the analysis may take some time

    9. If all of the necessary files any replacement SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue

    10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.

11 after the scan finished, close the command prompt window reboot the computer and check.

  • Windows Live Photo Gallery does not use default printer

When I print from Windows Live Photo Gallery it always by the incorrect printer default.  By default, it uses the fax printer.  All other characters to the right printer progames be default.  And under priners Control Panel, it shows the green check mark on the printer default right.  If I change to a photo printer, it prints very well.  But then the next image always defaults to the fax printer.  I use Vista 32 bit.  The version of Windows Live Photo Gallery is 14.0.8064.206.  The printer is a HP C7180.  And I have the latest version of the driver.

Is there a way to get Windows Live Photo Gallery to use the default printer? Thanks for your help. Harry Karr

I think that the part Ne03 refers to a network or shared printer that is connected to your machine.  For what it's worth, I have this entry in my registry.

HP Photosmart C4380 series, winspool, Ne02: so your entry (to me) seems pretty good.

Have you clicked on your HP printer and select the option "Run As Administrator" / Properties / Security and checked permissions, such that manage printers, records management, to ensure that everything is all right in there?

I'm still thinking possible "Bug", but are happy to be contradicted.

  • I use the windows photo gallery and wonder why my photos show the same icon and I can't get the image to show up as a thumbnail.

Can Hello someone tell me why I can't see my photos, unless I saw. I use windows vista with photo gallery as my program. All my photos show the same icon blue landscape.

    Miniatures,

Open your my pictures location, click on organize in the upper left corner, click folder and search options, click the view tab and uncheck the top option, always display icons and never thumbnails, select apply and save.

Return to your location of my pictures, change the display of the page on the top of the right side next to the question mark symbol, there is another symbol with a menu drop-down symbol, click it and select the medium or large icons options specified.

I don't remember if there is a setting in wlpg, separated

Click the blue file dark in wlpg, then click on the options in the list, go to the display section and examine the options for thumbnails.

in fact, they are saved in your images folder.

Windows comes with Vista and Windows Photo Gallery
