CSS: Positioned Parent column margin problem

This should a simple for someone with experience of painting without CSS. I am trying to imitate a glance I saw in a very simple and easy test case. I don't understand why the median column body sit evenly between the two adjacent columns of navigation on both sides? It currenlty placed much too high. If I hand enter 20 px for a top margin, it does not work either. Since it is relative, should not it pick up as the navright? Thanks for your help. Chris

Probably more easy just to cut and paste this in Dreamweaver:

Thanks for the information on the different types. The examples have been useful.

The answer to the problem is that I had to do the body margin 0px and the content margin top 20px. This solves the problem.

For anyone interested, here is the final code to update:

    Hello

    I experience some display problems with IE. Everything works perfectly on FF and Safari, but nothing is good on IE.

    I think the problem comes from the "position: absolute" in my CSS. I read on different forum that IE cannot correctly read the absolute position.

    All the solutions for that?

    (1) build your HTML content so that it flows naturally from the top to the bottom of the page.

    (2) use the default CSS positioning (which is not at all positioning).

    (3) align items on your page using CSS properties:

    margin: top | good | bottom | left;

    float: left or right

    padding: top | good | bottom | on the left,

    text-align: left, Center, or right.

  • CSS position: fixed works on mozilla 21/IE10, but not in chrome?

    Hello guys,.

    I want to post a rectangle or a picture while scrolling browser.

    I use sym.$("Rectangle3").css ({'position':"fixed"});})

    @2adps I think that the question boils down to translateZ (0) which is a known trick to force the GPU acceleration - and uses the same trick as animate

    I asked one of our developers and we have found a workaround.

    Add to the event compositionReady to the scene:

    $("body").append ($("#Stage_rect").css ("position", "fixed"));

    Replace "Stage_rect" what is your name of the element. For example, if your name of the element is "Rectangle3"level step in your items Panel, it becomes '#Stage_Rectangle3'. '. You can also get the name of this ID by the Inspector of your browser tools.

  • parent columns and child

    Hello world

    I have a table "test_table" like below where there is a child column and the parent column. I need to write a query to find out the values of column of child who does not exist in the parent column. I wrote something like that works but is it the right way, or is there a better way?

    Thank you

    parent of the child
    100 200
    200 300
    300
    400

    Query:

    Select child test_table
    where mother <>

    Thank you.

    PK

    Hello

    The answer to your question is this query:

    SELECT t.child FROM test_table t
    WHERE NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM t1 test_table WHERE t1.child = t.parent);

    This get you all the lines where there is no parent with the same value.

    However: Why would you have a table like this one with the parent-child relationship within the same table?

    float: left;
    padding: 20px;

  • Problem of tag CSS Position

    Search page

    I have some problems with the text of subnavigation in the link above. On my global.css file, there is a style statement for:

    #masthead ul ul {position: absolute; left: 30px; width: 755px; height: 26px; margin: 0; display: none; float: left ;}}

    I know that the position should be relative, but I can't understand what is broken or what I need to do to fix. The second element would be how to make the text of sub - nav be justified to the right so that clicking on the tab 'Entertainment' would have the sub - nav text remain beneath her and not completely above the left side.

    I know there are also other issues, but these two have got completely stoopified.

    Thank you

    Add position: relative to the style for #masthead rule.

  • 3-column CSS &amp; quot; push-down &amp; quot; problem

    I use a design in css 3-column nav for my site (take a look at rjkg.com/GS.html), but the Center and right columns are pushed down in Internet Explorer. Here's the css (navigation bar is on the left, headlines is right, and the content is Center):

    {#navBar}
    float: left;
    Width: 20%;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 0px;
    background-color: #ffddbb;
    border-right: 1px solid #cccccc;
    border-bottom: 1px solid #cccccc;
    }

    {#headlines}
    float: right;
    Width: 20%;
    border-left: 1px solid #cccccc;
    border-bottom: 1px solid #cccccc;
    padding-right: 10px;
    background-color: #ffddbb;
    background: #ffddbb;
    }

    #content {}
    float: left;
    Width: 499px;
    margin-top: 0px;
    margin-right: 0px;
    left margin: 0px;
    }

    What should I do to make showcorrectly in IE?

    In addition, in Firefox, the center column is actually centered between the two boxes, but I wish it were. Clues?

    Thank you for this beginner!
    R.

    I'll answer my own question in case someone else has this problem in the future.

    I found the solution at http://www.kingcosmonaut.de/journal/3col-layout/

    Basically, I placed the left sidebar (floating on the left) and the content of (floating on the right) Center in a wrapper, with the right sidebar floating just outside of the package. The problem is that IE really hates two columns, floating in the same direction, which seemed necessary to have 3-column navigation. There is a little nice and simple fix!

    is this possible?

    + 1 Murray on it.

    Can't think of a way that this can be done without using a plug-in.

    But there is another simple CSS solution for this. Using a background image and computer center as well vertical and horizontal alignment.

    Discover this violin: http://jsfiddle.net/arunpjohny/HTTUa/1/

    Use of the same violin, instead of a div, put it inside .

    You can echo your location of img using PHP in your background image inline for the SPAN markup. Get rid of the img tag. Set a height and width for the DURATION so that it is not displayed 0x0 (since you aren't going to have any content it contains).

  • IE CSS positioning

    I added a div on my page and positioned with css. It looks fine in Safari and Firefox, but is in the wrong place in Internet Explorer.
    The image you are looking for is the lizard in the box titled ' Question?

    I have attached the css. .with his questions is the id of the div with the fact that I'm having the problem.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    First of all, in code view I propose the div with the lizard on the nav div
    and below.

    Change this:

    <>
    href = "mailto:[email protected]" > click here to send us your questions
    and we will be happy to answer them for you.

    To do this:

    <>
    href = "mailto:[email protected]" > click here to send us your questions
    and we will be happy to answer them for you.

    Then, no need to make is absolute or relative, because it is in a table cell.
    Remove this info and add a margin to auto to Center.
    Change this:

    .with his questions {}
    background: to url (questions.jpg) no-repeat top center;
    height: 186px;
    Width: 189px;
    position: absolute;
    margin: 0px;
    left: 194px;
    top: 383px;
    }

    To do this:

    .with his questions {}
    background: to url (questions.jpg) no-repeat top center;
    height: 186px;
    Width: 189px;
    margin: auto 10px;
    }

    The reason for which the lizard is now under the NAV if you've noticed, is that the net asset value is
    floated.
    As the net asset value is in a table cell, there is no reason to float it. It will stay
    right where it is.
    Therefore, remove the float.

    Change this:

    #nav ul {}
    float: left;
    list-style: none;

    To do this:

    #nav ul {}
    list-style: none;

    Can change this:

    #nav ul li a {}
    display: block;
    float: left;

    To do this:

    #nav ul li a {}
    display: block;

    Now, the lizard is less than the navigation, in the same table cell.

    Then, change the question div text in a paragraph.

    Change this:

    <>
    href = "mailto:[email protected]" > click here to send us your questions
    and we will be happy to answer them for you.

    To do this:

    <>
    href = "mailto:[email protected]" > click here to send us your questions
    and we will be happy to answer them for you.

    Then add padding (top 40, low 0, left & right 0) to your class of questions
    so, it looks like this:

    .with his questions {}
    background: to url (questions.jpg) no-repeat top center;
    height: 186px;
    Width: 189px;
    margin: auto 10px;
    Padding: 50px 0px 0px;
    }

    Finally add the margins left and right to the text questions ID so that it looks like
    this:

    {#question_text}
    font: 12px/14px "Trebuchet MS";
    text-transform: none;
    Color: #990000;
    text-align: left;
    margin: 0px 4px 0px 90px;
    }

    Who says that marge is high 0, right 4, low 0 and left 90px.

    I hope this helps,

    Take care
    Tim

  • APEX 5, universal theme, value pairs attribute - column layout problem

    Hello

    APEX 5, universal theme.

    I have a little problem with the column model attribute - value pairs.

    If one of the fields is the result of a LOV and the value of the field is zero the provision goes a little wrong (half a row of the value column), when having long lists of pairs, it is difficult to see what value belongs to what field. It is a horizontal allignment problem that looks like the below example, the field in the middle is an empty field based on a LOV.

    Think of it as a little bug. Maybe someone can provide an easy solution?

    See you soon,.

    Bottom

    It looks like a bug in the CSS of the theme. This rule

    .t-AVPList-label,
    .t-AVPList-value {
      display: block;
      vertical-align: top;
      font-size: 1.4rem;
      line-height: 2rem;
      padding: .8rem 1.2rem;
      margin: 0;
      box-shadow: 0 1px rgba(0,0,0,.05) inset;
      transition: background-color .1s;
    }

    needs a property added minimum height so that the heights of term/description elements are aligned if one (or both) of them are empty:

    .t-AVPList-label,
    .t-AVPList-value {
      display: block;
      vertical-align: top;
      font-size: 1.4rem;
      line-height: 2rem;
      padding: .8rem 1.2rem;
      margin: 0;
      box-shadow: 0 1px rgba(0,0,0,.05) inset;
      transition: background-color .1s;
      min-height: 4rem;
    }

    You can create a style sheet personalized containing a rule of precedence for this problem:

    .t-AVPList-label,
    .t-AVPList-value {
      min-height: 4rem;
    }

    Transfer it to your workspace and reference it in the theme CSS File URL property to include in the app:

    #THEME_IMAGES#css/Core#MIN#.css?v=#APEX_VERSION#
    #WORKSPACE_IMAGES#theme_42_AVPlist_fix.css

    I'm not too familiar with coding I use designer to create my sites. I tried to inspect the encoding for the logo on each page, and both look alike to me, is there something that I am missing?

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you

    Ryan

    Ignore my last post, I've been distracted that you named a real

    'body '. Naming Convention is not good.

    Don't know why its happening because I didn't go into it too deeply but adding overflow: hidden; to the css 'wrapper' for the homepage to get rid of space, (see below in red below)

    {#wrapper}

    height: auto;

    Width: 800px;

    margin-right: auto;

    left margin: auto;

    left: auto;

    right: auto;

    overflow: hidden;

    }

    By default, browsers add margins & padding to all HTML elements, including the body, titles, paragraphs, lists, etc...  Most use has a CSS reset method using any in our stylesheets.

    / * Universal CSS Reset * /.

    * {

    margin: 0;

    padding: 0;

    / * set the box model in fluid layouts * /.

    -webkit-box-sizing: border-box;

    -moz-box-sizing: border-box;

    box-sizing: border-box;

  • Please help beginner with CSS positioning fix

    Am can't get the items of paragraph to behave the way I want to that they in the header section of the page on the link below. I paragraph address remaining in the position. Paragraph h, however, does not seem to be contained by the header div. He moves to the left as the browser window is resized to be larger. I tried to add a right margin of the paragraph address but paragraph hours does not seem to recognize that. I know I'm doing something wrong, but I can't seem to find out what. The little weather widget has a similar, but not quite the same problem. He moves to the right.

    I hope someone knowing good css can help me to get this set up correctly.

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Please forgive my newbieness. I have read and studied the html/css a bit, but this is my first attempt at real world if... I am determined to produce a website standards efficiently coded.

    We all started exactly where you are right now.  Learn how to work with the code is an excellent first step. Learn how to effectively use code is part skill and part art.  More you do, the easier it gets.

    When you have time, look at this article.

    How to develop with CSS?

    I had heard that the styles in the HTML are to be avoided. I guess it's a guideline that can be sometimes broken?

    True enough. Do not overdo with inline styles. But to change an element on a page, it won't hurt.

    Last question, is there a site you can recommend that I could keep posting my progress to for criticism on how I'm coding? It is appropriate to use this forum for this?

    You can ask your comments here.  There are many knowledgeable DW users here to help you.

    Good luck with your project,

  • Need help CSS Float, 2 columns

    I am a student doing a presentation of 2 fixed-width columns using float following a lesson in a book, hard to accomplish what I want to and could use some advice please.

    I want the main table to float on the left, and the wrapper of the background shines through to make the column, second right. I can't focus the image and text below the column on the right, the best way. I tried to put the picture and the text in a div tag, but could not look right and it went out. I am a novice at this so it must be simple. And validate too. TIA!

    Advice please!
