curves, histograms

How can I make a curves adjustment to make a copy of the photo to look like another? luminance and color of the two copies must be identical. Thank you.

I guess your application, you take a sequence of images varies slightly in balance the exposure or color, and that would be that they are the same in these features.

In this case:

1. place an image as one layer on top of the other.

2. choose the editing command > automatic alignment of layers

3 choose the color sampler tool to score 4 points: close to climax, quarters, medium tones or the three quarter-tone (depending on the image) and tone of grey area.

4. Select the layer of the reference Image and note the 12 values displayed in the Info Panel

5. click on turn off the layer of the reference Image and choose a different picture. Now the Info Panel reflects its values.

6 choose curves. Hold down the command + shift keys and click on each brand color sampling

7 go to the R channel in curves. The 4 points will be displayed. Use the + key to choose a brand and the arrow on the keyboard to change its value to match the value had thrown you down. The new value will appear alongside its original value. Repeat for the other three graduations on the curve of R.

8. Repeat for the G and B curves.

It will come very close to replicate the balance of exposure and the color of the reference Image.

  • Is InDesign the best tool for this project?

I work for a system large teaching hospital.  I was instructed to find a process to create 48 "X 36" posters that will be displayed in about 50 different units.  While the layout for each poster is the same, the data elements will be specific unit. Each poster will be a combination of curves, histograms, tables charts and comments (free text).  There has been discussions on adding specific images of unity. We will be updating the data items on these posters once per quarter, so I need a reproducible process.

I'm a data guy, not a designer.  I can get the specific unit of data in any format that will work for the automation of this process.    I worked on a proof of concept for the use of InDesign and XML.  I am struggling with the cards.  I see two options (Illustrator and Chartwell fonts) but I don't see how I can apply the data to 50 units for the charts and InDesign can create posters. It works very well for the names of the units and the comments.

Appreciate any idea that anyone may be able to offer.

    Thank you

    Carl

    Hello Carl,

It can be done in XML. But I would look at the use of AI to create graphics. To HAVE, you can create scripts to automate a large part of the graphic work, maybe all this. The charting tool appeals to variables that can be loaded that contains the chart data, and XML files. Images are no matter if it takes that the shootings of units or individuals in the unit.

If you wish, I can download an example of ZIP file that contains an ID CS6 file, two files HAVE that contain graphics, two XML files to ID containing the text and two files of variables used to create the graphs you will see in the file of ID. The screenshot below is using data from an example of poster PDF of a hospital, I got online, it's not mine. But for the example files, I like to use more or less actual data. The sample file uses about 1/3 of the sample PDF file for its data.

Once it is open - and probably relinked as your locations are not me on the computer - you can highlight the root in the XML Panel, then import the second XML file and some data will be replaced (success is replaced by chess, the keys of the table and the graph itself). All this should be scripted. In that once the XML data are pushed through AI and AI has (via script) saved as numbered charts (or this as never the window), then a script to identity card could be written to load all the files XML, one at a time and produce a PDF for each unit.

Please note that I have no examples of scripts for this process. However, there is a forum script that help you could ask if he has not already available scripts that could be modified for your application. I do this kind of thing (without using scripts) for a series of leaflets for a string of important regional auto parts. All XML, but that there is only a maximum of 8 variants, I manually load the XML file and produce PDF files.

In any case, let me know if you want the data from the sample and I'll upload it and PM you a link to it.

  • No base Panel appears in the develop module.  How can I get that back?

Help!  The Panel bases has disappeared from the right part of the Lightroom Develop module.  It has tone curve, histogram, etc., but not essential.  I have a Mac.  Where at - it go and how do I get it back?  I tried to update, restart, etc..  Any help would be appreciated, because it's really hard to edit without the basics.  Thank you

  • Basic Settings tab is missing from the develop module

I recently purchased lightroom 4 after using the free trial of 30 days, and I have no basic settings on my mac, can't find them anywhere? My tabs go to color curve histogram. Where are they?

    Very confused...

No need to be confused, you have probably inadvertently it hidden. The thing is that in each Module, all the individual panels in each of the left and right columns can be eventually displayed or hidden under the control of the user (there are a few minor exceptions such as the browser, but overall, this control is available throughtout Lightroom).

So to view the options for each column (in your case, expand the column to the right of the Module), simply right click (ctrl-click on Mac) on ONE of the headers that are displayed in this column, and you will see a menu of local context as the attached screenshot. Here you can see that I previously hid the base Panel, so all I have to do is click on the baseline and it is restored. Conversely, I can use this method to hide a Panel.

  • How to add a bell curve on a histogram chart.

I want to add a bell curve on the graph histogram similar to the attached picture. Draw the histogram already with my data, but I don't know how to add the Gauss curve.

    I really appreciate your help.

If you have the statistical control of processes (MSP) toolkit or Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC), LabVIEW toolkit has many built-in histogram functions.

  • Why does changing the histogram curve tone in sync with the main histogram?

When I set things such as shadows, highlights, exhibition, etc., the histogram changes to reflect these adjustments.  However, the right tone curve window below does not reflect these changes and it is confusing to me as to if any subsequent change, I can do through the tone curve will be accurate.

For example, if I increase exposure, the histogram 'mountain' moves to the right, but I still get the original mountain bite upwards on the left edge of the tone curve, so we don't know how it will interpret any changes I make to the tone curve.

    Thank you

    Jim

    I withdraw the question.

I don't know if my eyes was wrong, but once I put the mouse in the tone curve, it actually puts up-to-date, but not instantly in unison with the principal, who threw me.

  • Somehow my basic develop settings have disappeared - what is between the histogram and curve is missing. Help!

I have no idea what happened, but I don't have development options under the histogram and above the tone curve - so not only increase the white balance, no sliding bars to actually adjust my photo. Help, please!

Hold the cursor over a black area just above the area of curves along the side of R, then select BASIC, OR ANY OF CHOICE.

How can I retrieve Basic? Thanks for your help

Right-click on the header of the tone curve and put a check mark next to the base.

My right panel will of the histogram to the right in the tone curve Panel.  My basic Panel should be below the histogram.  Any ideas how to get it back.  I even uninstalled my lightroom and reinstalled with the same problem.  Help!

Right-click on or near one of the other headers and a pop-up will appear and you will be able to select the base to the display panel.

  • I just bought lightroom and downloaded and in the Mode of development, I am unable to find the "Basic" tab All shows (in the order in which they appear on my screen) are histogram, curve tones, STL/color/BW, Split Toning, detail, Lens Correction, effects,

My Basic tab disappeared... clues on where I can find it. I have a horrible feeling I have pressed a "Hide" button by mistake and can not find how to cancel it

Right click on one of the tabs that are visible and select "basic" in the menu that appears, Mohammed.

  • Version of LR 5.5 Mac in the develop Module, I have histogram, 'Basic' disappeared, next tab is tone curve.  How to bring back Basic.

In the develop Module Basic TAB went...  Deleted or hidden.  I did a reinstall of the upgrade and same problem.

Right-click on one of the headings on the right panel, and you will get a pop up like the screenshot.

  • RE: "compute a histogram icon more precise."

    CS5 Version 12.0.4 Mac OS X 10.10.5

    (1) ' calculate A more accurate histogram icon "in my curves adjustment panel is no longer visible.

    (2) as long as we have been discussing this, clicking on this really she recalculates the existing histogram to fill any gap or it will simply update the histogram display of 8-bit to 16-bit real view assuming that you edit in 16 bits.

The histogram in the setting (curves and levels) panels shows that the "before" State, not the State "after". It's just there to help you position points.

IOW, once updated, it is refreshed and represents the full (original) imaga data. Therefore, the icon disappears because there is nothing more to cool off.

For a live update, you must use the histogram Panel, which has its own refresh button (two, actually...)

If this seems to work as expected.

  • Looking for a way to cut using histogram

First of all, I am very new to Lightroom.  I am open to new ways if this can be done in the way that I'm used to.  For example, in Bibble, there is a histogram with little markers of triangle at the bottom of each side.  If the raw image was taken away, and started the black end, say, two-thirds of the left lane, I could simply drag the triangle on there where they began.    I can do that in Lightroom?

Sorry, if I would have looked under the histogram I might have seen the tone curve...

  • Levels histogram vs general histogram

Can someone tell me the difference between the Histogram tool of levels and the general histogram?

I'm currently editing pure blacks and you each give me another black reading. The histogram levels tool black is up, but the general histogram shows a beautiful curve of blacker blacks.

I just want to get pure blacks while preserving the details in the shadows. Thanks for your help.

Level histogram is RGB, even if you have the main histogram defined on brightness:

Understanding digital camera histograms: luminosity and color

Also (this is perhaps not the case), the levels histogram will look just the layer you are on, while the main histogram can be set to see the entire image or layer.  Of course, if you have only a single layer, then it wouldn't make a difference.
