I do not use this method BUT it seems that you are missing a closing tag, see below in red below. Try to add that and see what happens.

    Each setting you see in a computer program you use requires work; when a developer wants to build something new or improve something, he or she has to go through each related (hidden) setting and test if it still works like before and do that on each platform Firefox runs on. That's Apple's Mac OSX, various flavours of Linux and various flavours of Windows, including Windows XP. This costs time, lots of it, and that amount grows exponentially with each setting that's added. This comes on top of our work to continuously fix, improve and innovate Firefox.

  • How to hide the mess of buttons that occupy two lines on the right side of the Navigation bar? Customize does not affect the

    I just got an update 8.0.1 and now I have a set of not less than 20 icons at the top right of the Navigation bar.

    It's left arrow, right arrow, X, reload, home, Basel, clock, star, unjknown, unknown, window with + in it, scissors, two documents, Clipboard, four directions,-, +, two circular arrows, RSS icon, another arrow to the left.

    Some of them would be useful, but not two rows of them; However customize doesn't let me drag out - they move as a whole block and just snap back on the release.

    In addition, when I mouse over this area they Flash quickly on and outside.

    Can you advise how to choose which of these elements, I want to see: they take a lot of space and I only need about 3 - 4 of them.

    Thank you!

  • Bookmarks appear on the Navigation bar

    I had everything set up so that from the top down, I got the menu bar, then the navigation bar, then my favorites and the stumbleupon toolbar. Since Firefox itself randomly updated this morning, the navigation bar traded places with my bookmarks and bars to stumble and the Customize menu refuses to save my changes and essentially forcing me to put everything back where it belongs to every time I open Firefox.

    I have not downloaded or installed everything recently and start in safe mode puts them in the right order, but then I've got tabs on top again and generally more problems than it fixed.

    Try the userChrome.css I posted in this thread:

  • How can I lock the toolbar of bookmarks to stay below the navigation bar? It moves above every time I open a new tab.

    Before the last update, my setup is: Menu bar, bar navigation, toolbar, bookmarks and tabs in that order from top to bottom. I have it configured to display the tabs do not if there is one. It starts so correct when I first open the browser, but if I start a 2nd tab Bookmarks toolbar passes over the top of the navigation bar. Is it possible to lock my settings?

    I'm having a similar issue, although mine happens when I start a new page instead of a new tab. Once I start a new page, it displays the bookmark above all bar, but go to personalization fills the installation with the bookmarks bar in its normal position. This will remain true until I start a new page regardless of the first being open or not. The current version is Ff36.0, it is not moved before the last big update. Uploaded images show from the beginning until the fixation with customization, note I do not click on anything else that customize, customization of the output.

  • How to display the navigation bar in firefox 30

    I downloaded the version 30 this AM there is no navigation bar or the option for one. On the view menu, the navigation bar is not identified. If you go to customize the toolbars to hide has no option to toolbar navigation. I turned on all the display options, but do not get the navigation pane. The only way you can see is by placing the cursor on the lower part of the tab bar. It is truncated with about 2/3 of the width of the page. I want the width of the entire page and I want it to be displayed permanently. All I can find is for people who want to hide navigation bar, and I searched through those thinking maybe I could debone it, but no luck.

    Another problem is that if you use colorful tabs only the tab you are on is colorful - the rest are grayed out. What the hell happened?

    Hello

    Safe mode starts now shift and launching of FF. Using the alt key did nothing.

    I start in safe mode and the problem was not there. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and it was back again.

    I was unable to follow the instructions for localstore.rdf. I was unable to open the current folder (AKA Firefox profile) settings Firefox by these instructions. The first two were not present and about: support simply takes you to a bunch of links to troubleshooting.

    Then I launched Firefox as a reset and now it looks like and acts properly. I had hoped to avoid a lot of time and a trial / error issues, but it wasn't only doesn't have to be. Thanks for trying to help!

  • Why control 'Reload current page' has been moved to the navigation bar 29 Firefox? I wish I could put it where I had it in Firefox 28.

    After completing the download of Firefox 29 I tried to reorganize my buttons\controls to where I used to have them in Firefox 28 and earlier versions. I noticed, in particular, that the 'reload current page' control is no longer available to be located in front of the navigation bar where I got it for years. The reason why I chose Firefox was in the first place because I could customize to my liking. I know that you can just right click and "Recharge" tab or just get used to go all the way (right side) of the bar of navigation but that defeats the purpose entirely for me.

    Here's an analogy; Ford decides that they will replace now current car models to the United States with British standard style vehicles. All cars sold by Ford will now be right steer. While this may seem like a "No biggy" to some, others, especially those of us who are prone to driving manual transmission vehicle, maybe a little resistant to this change. You do not know if I managed to make my point of view or not, but I hope that I did.

    Initially I thought I would start by "is someone fell and hit their head?" or "did Steve Ballmer suddenly support Mozilla, especially the version of Firefox 29, because it feels like a Windows 8 (aka the aroma of a tank full of sewage on a hot day)?" It is understood that updates are needed and as a computer scientist, I was around for many odd where the folds just to settle. They occur. Perhaps some consideration will be Firefox 30 to those of us in States that are used for vehicles left direction.

    I may be missing something here and fall on my sword if this is the case, but there is no indication that I've seen at the sight of Mozilla that the 'reload current page' control cannot be manipulated somehow update Firefox 29. The good side of things, I now have a good reason to go back and review some of the browsers that I cut back in the day when I decided to go with Firefox.

    As far as I know, the Restorer of classic theme Add on is the only way to move the button reload outside the address bar.

    1. Classic restaurateur theme installation and restart Firefox when prompted.
    2. Open the modules (Ctrl + Shift + A Manager; Mac: Command + shift + A), then the Extensions category.
    3. Beside the classical restaurant theme, click on the Options button.
    4. On the main tab, make sure that 'Mobile back-forward button' and 'hide urlbars stop & reload buttons' is checked. You can also check "combine stop & reload buttons. Close the options window when finished.
    5. Right-click on a zone empty of the tab bar and select Customize.
    6. Do slide forward/backward buttons, Stop and reload on the navigation toolbar.
    7. Click the Customize the output at the bottom right button when finished.

    That being said, I must point out that you can reload pages in other ways.

    • Make a right click No matter what tab and choose reload.
    • Right click on a box empty page and choose reload.
    • Press F5.
    • Press Ctrl + R (Mac: command-R).
  • How can I combine the navigation bar and the menu bar on the same line to save space?

    V29 Firefox seems to be a huge not backward in customization. I need to save room for the content so already I disabled the tabs and combined in the menu bar and the navigation bar on the same line. The url space is too long anyway. Now with v29 all my customization is gone and I can't get it back. I can move me is more points on the navigation bar to combine it with the menu bar. Why this was done? It limits only my ability to customize my browser? I'm very frustrated that you had a great browser and ruined.

    You should see Classic theme restaurateur, it contains many parameters. This module applies to customize Firefox 29. https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/

  • Feedly and Gmail Notifier icons repositioning in the navigation bar after the browser is refreshed.

    Are there steps I can take to keep the fixed add-on icons in the navigation bar?

    Another option besides the extensions behaving badly. Sometimes, the file that stores the toolbar customizations is damaged and fails to update correctly at the end of your session (as causing many other strange symptoms).

    The file is not editable, but you can rename it and customize your toolbars from scratch.

    Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using

    Help > troubleshooting information > "view file" button.

    Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output

    Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename localstore.rdf to something like localstore.old

    Restart Firefox. I hope that now your preferred icon positions will be remembered.

  • Lost the back, front, refresh etc. buttons on the navigation bar. Everything on the fact help page and nothing works

    I have the navigation bar checked, restore the default toolbar, reset firefox, restarted with Add ons disabled, restarted the computer, restart firefox and update my plugins. Firefox is also updated. Nothing works. Thank you for your help and care.

    When you open the toolbar customization panel, the Stop/Reload point at the end of the address bar will be "magically" turn into buttons that can be dragged around. If you put them next to each other, they will be combined into a single button, but if you want them separate, I think you can, but a separation between them.

  • How to disable the placeholder text in the URL from the navigation bar and search fields?

    Everytime I open a new tab (often, the homepage is set to blank) I watch 'Go to site' in the navigation bar. The search field shows the name of the active search engine until the text is registration. All I want is to be able to do is disable the placeholder text, showing the two fields as white.

    Add code to the file userChrome.css below default @namespace.

    Customization files (interface) userChrome.css and userContent.css (Web sites) are located in the chrome folder in the user profile folder.

    @namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

    *|*.textbox-input:-moz-placeholder { color:transparent !important; }
    *|*.textbox-input:-moz-placeholder:hover { color:graytext !important; }

    Use in Firefox 19 +:

    @namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

    *|*.textbox-input::-moz-placeholder { color:transparent !important; }
    *|*.textbox-input:hover::-moz-placeholder { color:black !important; }
  • Favorite of the entrances to the toolbar not appearing is not in the space provided for them under the Navigation bar.

    Using Firefox 3.6.13 and 4.0b8. Both do not display the entries in my bookmarks bar. The item exists. I have used Firefox for years and has always presented this toolbar. Confirmed that it still exists and was not inadvertently trashed by watching them a point and registration when they choose manage bookmarks. Element is selected for display in the drop-down (display-toolbars Tools-Bookmark Toolbar), the space where it would normally view my entries appears directly under the Navigation bar, but it is empty without entries displayed.

    On the view menu, select Toolbars and then customize to open the Customize dialog box toolbar. With the toolbar Customize dialog box displayed, to an icon labeled "Bookmarks toolbar items" in the bookmarks toolbar. If she is not there, just drag and drop the icon called bookmarks from the Customize dialog box toolbar on the bookmarks toolbar. There will be 2 icons called bookmarks, that you want to have an icon that looks like a sheet of paper (it does on Windows, I think it's the same thing on the Mac).
