  If you delete the page viii, pages ix, x, xi, and xii if mve, a post left and renumber, but you have a new section starting on the 1 page after the current page xii, and this will not change.   There are several approaches to this problem. You can do this through Control Panel files in LR. You can do just about anything in the files Panel, you can do in Explorer or Finder. Just create folder and drag / move.

  Another way is to do it outside the use of LR Explorer (Windows) or the FInder (Mac). After you're done then go back into LR and tell LR where to find the moved files. Depending on how much you have, this could be a bit tedious.

  Another method is to choose the files you want, then export it in a catalog. When you do this, remember to include the option to export the negatives. Point the new catalogue to you another drive. It will recreate the folder structure when exporting. Delete the images of your current catalog. Do not drive delete just delete. Now import the catalog and choose the newly exported catalog. This time, choose the option Add files without moving them. If you are sure that everything is back and is very well, you can use the Explorer or Finder to go into your original file structure and delete files that have been moved to the new drive.  Be sure to choose only the moved files. If you are separating the RAWs this should be relatively easy.

  Your original color image is never changed... Lightroom never changes the portion of the image of your original photos. So you can always go back to the color version if you want.

  One way to do is to create a virtual copy of the color image (select the image, then ctrl + apostrophe), and then convert the virtual copy to B & W, although you can also use a snapshot, or even to convert to B & W theoriginal, knowing that you can always go back to the color image.
