Deleting photos in Lightroom

I am writing in the hope that someone can help me. My Mac hard drive is full and I can't upload photos. I am afraid to delete or move some of the pictures on the external hard drive because they are connected to the photos that are exported and posted on Facebook. Can someone help me please understand what is the best way to handle my situation? Thank you!!

Hi esteej,

You can move photos to your external drive in Lightroom itself.

Or, for the import process, you can copy the images on your external hard drive instead of copying them to your local disk.

Refer to this tutorial: How to copy files to an external hard drive in Lightroom | Adobe evangelists - Julieanne Kost. Adobe TV

  • recover deleted photos from Lightroom

Two questions, I'm afraid (relatively new to LR)

I mistakenly removed (not deleted) some photos of LR.  They are still in the folder of the Solution Explorer, but is not visible.  After various researches, my understanding is that the only way to recover is to open a catalog backup and import.  That sounds good, if the last backup was just before removing the photos but I would have thought that you would lose all your work until finally back up.  There must be a simple way to inform LR than photos and yyyyy xxxx can be made visible again?  My other method, which is long-term, is to move the pictures, in Solution Explorer, in another file and import.  But... can obviously not the right way, anyone tell me what a muppet I am and tell me how a little easier?

Similar problem with retouching in PSP and want to save it in the original record of LR, as a different image name.  I'm doing this, but he does not see LR.  I have to go through the palaver of moving and in re-importing.

    Thank you very much.

No there is no other way to do it, but if you did not major changes to your catalog since your last backup outside of the deletion of the files then you can go back to the last backup that you created.

  • How do I delete all the photos in Lightroom Mobile?

I would like to delete all the photos in my photo library Lightroom Mobile. A one-step procedure would be ideal.

For background: Lightroom my Office catalog has tens of thousands of photos and hundreds of collections. When I was getting familiar with Lightroom Mobile first, I synced all my photos with the service. It was a mistake; I didn't know that this would result in large amounts of data fill my mobile devices (I thought that the service worked more like Dropbox, OneDrive, etc., where the photos are loaded as needed). My photo library Lightroom Mobile is now much too large to fit on my mobile, and even partially synchronization fills my devices immediately. I want to empty my library and start over.

Select individually each image in the web interface is not a practical solution. It is not as convenient keep all photos in Lightroom on mobile and then delete the unwanted collections of different mobile devices, because it would involve deleting hundreds of events for each mobile device whenever I created Lightroom Mobile. I would like to erase from my library and start again with a small number of collections in sync.

Any advice on how this could be done would be appreciated!

In preferences > Lightroom Mobile, there is a delete all the data button.

  • I accidentally deleted my photos from lightroom. On my hard drive, the Lr catalogs, as well as the photos are still there. How to restore pictures?

I don't know how it happened, except my mouse pointer in the left panel while I was trying to place a photo that I had just imported to another folder.

My collections appear to be intact, although I've not really used this feature.

With the DNG files in the 'My pictures' folder (always there). There seems to be several JPG files that I expected (obviously for me, they are JPG generated since the DNG files). How can I recover my photos in Lightroom? It would also be necessary to have the jpg back in Lightroom to avoid conflicts in the Lr catalog?

I'd appreciate simple easy to understand the answers that I am not very technical interest. I got Lightroom since v4 and now CC photography plan, although I don't have a really good understanding of what I don't get much time to use it.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    The library, go to:

    File > open recent

Choose a catalog named so in the list, otherwise go to the catalog folder (normally found photos in) and double click (Ctrl-click) on the catalogue with the .lrcat extension

If still not appear the pictures, go to a dated backup folder, when it was last working and launch of the .lrcat file.

  • How you browse and delete photos?

System: Retina of MacBook Pro 15 inch w, running the latest IOS on 30/04/16 2nd

This seems to be something very very simple to do, but how I can open a photo and click on arrows to view one by one in full screen/resolution, in chronological order, then delete?

I asked 2 geniuses by phone about this and have not been able to get a satisfactory answer. For example: on my PC, I put the RAW format. CR2 images on the computer and I can click on any picture and it will open in the viewer of windows, full size photo (even if it takes a few sections to reach the full resolution, which is good) and I can either press the delete key to send files to the Recycle Bin or the arrow keys left or right to browse the photos in chronological order.

Why don't I have to open each photo one by one? A genius has taught me a way to scroll, but it works on all the photos on the same line. Once you arrive at the end of the line, you must close the photo and open the first picture of the next line to start. Very stupid, very tedious.

I have lightroom, but I can not also know how to make the images full screen click over there so im at a loss. I don't want to import photos into lightroom, that I do not use as for me it's very messy.

Please help me! I have a photo assignment involving more 4 200 photos and I need my work/cross flow to be as fast as possible.

Not sure that I address your question, but I just tried this in Photos

By clicking on the arrow continues to develop the pictures without stopping at the end / beginning of a line and using the back button back or delete I was able to delete images (2 clicks as he asks me before deleting)

Also, as you probably know next to 3 switches - there is the previous page arrow and beside it is a viewer from bench (for lack of a better term) - clicking on which opens the image thumbnails so you can view them when you scroll - it is directly in the file

  • Can I delete photos from my Mac WITHOUT removing them from shared albums?

I only use photo program to create shared to my AppleTV photo albums and display on my iPhone. I keep all my original photos in Lightroom database. I also add photos to my albums shared from two separate Macs connected to the same account iCloud. I'm about to re - format one of my Mac and wonder if I can simply delete all the pictures I imported into the Photos on one of my Macs locally without affecting what is stored in albums shared in the iCloud photo library?

    Thank you.

As long as you do not remove the shared Albums are under the shared section in the sidebar, that images can be removed from the library and stay in line in the shared album:

  • Photos from Lightroom Mobile disappear after sync

I started a collection of more than 200 photos that I have imported and edited in Lightroom Mobile on iPad.  I then later opened Lightroom on OS X and allowed the photos to sync from a mobile phone on the desk.  Only 16 of the 200 original photographs came through.  I tried to get the synchronization to continue, but no other pictures would come through.  Then I went to look at the collection on my iPad and photos that were not synchronized on Lightroom desktop disappeared from the collection of the iPad.  It seems that for some reason, the Lightroom Office resumed the sync and only allowed for these 16 photos to be synced and removed the rest pictures which were not synchronized.  After that I contacted Adobe support, they decided that the synchronization mechanism work properly now, and since I never deleted all the pictures there have been a "glitch" synchronization and offered no further assistance.  No one knows what may have caused this or how those deleted photos can be recovered?

    OS X 10.11.5

    Lightroom 2015.6

    iOS 9.3.2

    Lightroom Mobile v. 2.4.0

Could you please send me a log diagnosis LR Desktop - better as a private message with a downloadable dropbox link.

You can trigger the newspaper through Desktop LR-Mobile with Lightroom > preferences, and when you hold down the ALT key, you will notice a diagnostic log button to generate. -Guido

  • is it possible to reactivate deleted photos?

is it possible to reactivate deleted photos?

They can be imported again if:

1 > you simply removed the image from Lightroom and chose not to remove it.

    Or

2 > you deleted the file, but have not yet emptied the Recycle Bin or the trash. In this case, you can restore the picture on his previous record.

In both cases, you will need to import the picture again or synchronize the file.

  • Number of Photos with Lightroom is showing photos that shouldn't be appearing more

    Hello

My Mobile with Lightroom is showing 805 photos on my iphone, but I have only 5 photos in my camera, and I have not all collections with Lightroom CC. I don't know where these photos, and I have no option to delete the photos.

Why is this happening? I wanted to delete all the photos in Lightroom mobile and start-up costs, but why I 805 photos showing is beyond me.

    Shea Chambers Dunn

    Hi sheadunn,

Yes, you can erase all the data synchronized on Lightroom Mobile.

Desktop version of Lightroom CC open > go to preferences > Lightroom Mobile > delete all data.

Restart Lightroom CC & Mobile Version

Once this is done, now you can add only the images you want to synchronize.

Let us know if that helps.

    Kind regards

  • Changes in 'Any the Photos' folder Lightroom, not reflected in Lr Mobile

After installing Mobile from Lr, I imported all my photos that were on the phone. When I enabled syncing of photos in Lightroom has appeared in 'Any the Photos' in the records section. I then moved all to other folders. The "Imported Photos" folder was now empty in Lightroom, but it still appeared in Lr Mobile. Then, I deleted the folder and created a new. I imported more than three photos. Two of them go to Lightroom. The third party must not synced because he had done before. Yet once, I moved the 'Imported Photos' photos and even once, they always stay in Lr mobile. Is this a normal behavior. I have to go back and delete them manually?

I have another question of workflow. Is there a way to automatically delete the pictures from the photo app from Apple that are automatically imported into Lr Mobile? I don't think so, but hope springs eternal. If this is not the case, is there a photo app that would save pictures directly in Lr Mobile?

Look in the Collections Panel - these photos are probably included in a collection that has marked for synchronization.  If remove you it from the collection, they will be removed from the iPad.

And no, sorry, he cannot automatically delete the files.

  • Is it possible to save photos from lightroom without the original file?

I recently imported photos into lightroom, but I did not back up the original files on my computer and they are deleted from my card.  The images still appear in lightroom.  Is it possible to save them from lightroom without the original file?

Your images are not - and have never had - in Lightroom, they are just referenced in the Lightroom database.

Lightroom generates jpeg previews of the originals, however, and you can export users export preview plugin of Rob Cole: robcole.com - PreviewExporter.

To be clear, however, that are not originals.

  • How simply move/Custom, organize your Photos in Lightroom 4?

I am so frustrated at the moment. I'm in Lightroom 4 and I'm in the Mode Library grid. All I want to do is take a photo in the grid and move it to another location in the grid. It seems that you should be able to just click on the picture, drag and drop to where you would like placed on the grid. It's impossible. Then I read that the record must be clicked on also. So I clicked on the folder. Then, a pop-up said that I have, "can't move photos as long as there are subfolders". So I clicked on the subfolder and I still couldn't move picture. Then I read that I had to delete the subfolder. I did it and all 546 photos have been removed from Lightroom. I am now in the middle of importing the photos in Lightroom. Why is it so difficult? In Aperture, you need to drag the photo to the desired position. It works just like a toaster. But why Lightroom does make things so difficult? I wish someone would do a tutorial for Adobe TV about how simply move the photos. It is so basic and I can't understand it. Please, someone tell me just how to move a photo in Lightroom 4 to another position? Thank you.

It seems that if you try to sort on a folder that has subfolders. LR will not allow this - you must open specific subfolder that contains only these images you need to sort and to do with it.

  • deleting photos with indicator

I am a new user of LR (migrated the PSE, I used intensively for 6 years).
My question: I have labeled pictures as REJECT and select for them and remove them. They are all part of a collection (a set within a collection).

When you try to delete, I get the message:

You can not delete photos directly from a set of collection.

Try to remove the photos from the collections inside this

set or remove photos in the Lightroom Catalog.

    Any suggestions?

    Tom

    Tom,

First of all, you should know that deleting a picture while you are viewing a collection simply removes the photo of this collection, not in the catalog. (Unless you use Ctrl-Alt-Shift + Delete which totally get rid you of this image.) If you want to remove an image from LR, you must be in a folder.

As the message says, Lightroom will not allow you to delete a photo when you're looking at him within a defined Collection. A Collection is a set of collections. This photo may belong to several collections within the whole, if LR does not know which collection to remove it from. That is why the message offers you different choices to delete the file.
