Dell Dimension 8200 Memory Upgrade after upgrade the processor

Hello

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 (shipping date is 01/05/2002) which came with a FSB of 400. I've recently updated the its origianl 1.8 GHz a 2.4 GHz processor.  I understand that the 8200 with a FSB of 400 can use 800-40ns or 800-45ns memory sticks (I think that mine came with 800-45).  I intend to upgrade memory 1 GB to 4 X 512 (2GB), I installed (4 X 256).  My question is when I went to buy the 4 X 512 memory, said the pub, it could be used in a 8200 with a 2.1 GHz CPU or less.  I have a 2.4 GHz chip. Is that going to be a problem?

Rbatleman,

Great question!  When the Dimension 8200 was released the processor speed max was 2.1 ghz (probably why the memory you were viewing had this label).   We have updated later to the processor 2.4 ghz when it was available.  The two units came with the PC800-45 (400 mhz) memory, you should run into any problems with this memory.  Keep in mind the system supports only the RIMM modules that contain devices memory of 4, 8 or 16.  I hope this helps!

  • Dell Dimension B110: Memory upgrade problem

I have problems with my upgrade memory. I bought a few 1GBX2 2 GB of memory, and I know that my computer can take because I had done the research before I bought the memory. But with I put memory he doesn't recognize her, it's like id I have no memory what so ever in the machine. I was wondering if there was something that I'm supposed to do or change to get the ram to read. It takes PC-3200 RAM type.

And another thing... I have 512 MB of RAM, but he acknowledges as 504 MB of RAM... Any reason why it's like that?

    Specifications of the computer:

    Microsoft Windows XP

    Service Pack 3

    Intel [R]
    Celeron (R) CPU 2.53 GHz

  • Upgrade to a Dell Dimension 8200?

I have a very old Dell Dimension 8200 PC desktop computer I found at a sale of yard for free, and initially, it came with only 256 MB of RDRAM. I ordered a kit 1 GB for it, and the seller had shipped me 4 512 MB modules that fit into the PC, very well. Bringing the RAM from 256 MB to 2 GB, even if apparently the so-called 8200 can be up to 1 GB. A reason why what was possible? Anyway, I'll try and upgrade the processor 1.7 ghz on something toward superior (I must find the chipset that there) and if I have enough money, I'll put a better video in card. And before someone tells you to buy a new PC with the money it would take to put new parts in this area; I have a very good, 2013 PC that works very well. I just want to see how far I can spend the 8200, as a project more than anything else. But honestly; Why upgrade to 2 GB actually works if Dell indicates that it can go only up to 1 GB? I also saw that the PC that I use on a daily basis, an Inspiron 660, can use about 32 GB, if Dell says up to 8 GB, even though they sold the same model with about 16 GB. It's all confusing.

Many Dell can handle more Dell's claim. Often the physical changes occur throughout the life of the model, and the newer versions will take longer. Limitations both the particular Chipset, BIOS and motherboard. Each doubling of RAM support takes an extra to be present address line.

  • RAM upgrade problem: Flash the BIOS? or upgrade the processor?

Hi, I jumped in with both feet and now need help to get out me!

I have a desktop PC HP Pavilion Elite HPE-470uk who becomes a bit slow (processor card here http://ark.intel.com/products/48505/Intel-Core-i3-550-Processor-4M-Cache-3_20-GHz). After you have added a bluray player that I noticed that it's getting a bit slow so thought I would add little RAM.

I bought a few Hyper X8GB of HyperXbeast 1600hhz, slipped in and the PC did nothing but to turn on and off several times. I checked the two sticks and they both do it. I then (plow in front) checked what memory, the processor can handle and discovered "The Intel® Core™ i3 - 5xx / Intel® Core™ i3-21xx processors handle memory DDR3 1066/1333 MHz" by http://www.intel.com/support/processors/corei3/sb/CS-031175.htm

After a discussion on another forum, that it has been suggested that I have updated the BIOS because it can allow the processor to manage memory 1600 mhz, but I don't know where to start on this or what version to selected download. I'd appreciate any help you can offer on this.

The other way, that I can see is to update the processor itself. I thought of nothing too fancy just an i5 because it will allow me to run 3d blurays and should allow me to run some apps at the same time. After reading this http://m.wikihow.com/Upgrade-a-Processor it seems too complicated. Is it really just a matter of taking off the fan, declipsant the old processor, nine droping in and then put on some cooling stick stuff?

Or should I just return the memory and get good memory?

    See you soon

    Atdot.

Here are the specifications of original factory for your desktop HP Pavilion Elite HPE-470uk and its card mother MS-7613 (Iona-GL8E). Based on these specifications, this model can support up to 16 GB (4 GB x 4 DIMMs) as follows:

    Dual channel memory architecture
Four DDR3 DIMM sockets (240 pin)
    PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333)
    PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066)
    Memory non - ECC, unbuffered
Supports up to 16 GB on 64 bit computers

    In addition, this model can support the following Intel processors;

Maximum frequency of the processor of the heart < = 2.93GHz
    Intel Core i7 - 8xx (Lynnfield core)
    Intel Core i5 - 7xx (Lynnfield core)
    Intel Core i5 - 6xx (Clarkdale core)
    Intel Core i3 - 5xx (Clarkdale core)

If you do not have to worry about the update of the BIOS, there is no updates available for your computer BIOS. Honestly, I return the incorrect memory and upgrade to a minimum of 8 GB of RAM. Then, if it solves all your problems, you could also upgrade the processor.

As the computer is nearly 4 years old, you can consider a factory HP restore to return the computer to a facoty as State. In many cases, it returns original full speed of the computer. The reason why this helps, because the BONE is swollen and clogged over time.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

    Hello

Upgrading the CPU is a bit tricky on laptops and more often than not desirable and is not possible.
After the CPU overheating upgrade, it would be possible that don t cooling modules are working properly and the laptop.
Why? Well well, the CPU new and stronger products, more heat and the temperature would be Monte. The fan table that is stored in the BIOS will not correspond with the new CPU and the cooling fans would not correctly work.
In addition, upgrading CPU will void your warranty! It's very risky!

Anyway, looks like you certainly want to upgrade the processor?
So I would check the chipset installed on your laptop.
Try to know the details of the chipset and Intel page for compatible processors research!

  • I can add on a hard drive to my Dell Dimension 8200

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 with a 100 GB ATA / hard disk, it is full and I have only 4 GB of free space. There intel9R0 4 CPU 1.70 GHz, running windows XP Home Edition. I would like to add a 500 GB hard drive, can I just add this hard drive as a #2 as a normal drive.

Yes, if you install 2nd disk after formatting it will appear as another drive in 'My computer' and you can move files to free up space on your primary drive.

In addition, you can install the new drive, clone the old drive him (several disks are delivered with the software or you can download it from the Web site of the manufacture) and then delete the old drive... just a matter of what you prefer, option 1 is easier.

Keep in mind there are two types of hard drives: EIDE (or "parallel ata") is the oldest type, the cable is 40 pins of a connector that is about 3 inches wide. Newer drives are SATA ("Serial ATA") with a connector 4 pins which is about 0.75 inches wide. On the top of my head I do not remember if Dell Dim 8200 SATA or not, but I think. Worst case if you do not find an EIDE drive and your computer does not have a SATA connector, you can add a PCI card that will add. Some of these cards may not allow to boot from it so you should keep your installed current 100 GB drive for the installation to work.

  • Upgrading the processor on the Satellite U200

I have a PLUA0C U200-PT300E and I would like to upgrade the processor in it. I bought a T7200 processor on eBay since it was the most powerful available for laptops U200/U205 CPU. However, when I installed it, I came across a series of problems. First the fan would run at full speed and the computer would briefly have blue screen after Windows loading and then it could restart. He just kept this again and again. I ran MEMTEST because I wasn't too sure about what the issue was. The computer locked up during the test, and then I was unable to restart it. I replaced the processor with the an original T2300E, then the cimputer starts and ran perfectly.

Any ideas why this happened? Was the defective CPU? Both the U200 and U205 come with the Intel 945 GM Express chipset and I have the latest Toshiba BIOS for the U200/U205 (v 3.70) so it doesn't seem to be compatibility problems.

I wonder if it is the CPU that my own past experience if a CPU is not compatible with a chipset then the computer or the other does not start or it will give errors as soon as it publishes. However, this would be POST and would start to load Windows before it crashed.

I m didn't ask you with all these questions. Why you not a not post here until you have made the decision to upgrade CPU?

In any case, I think that the answer to your questions, you will find under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm
Please read carefully what Toshiba guys talking about CPU upgrade.

    can I upgrade the processor?

I can see why you would. You have Celeron B820. The problem is in the notebooks with the HP Celeron processors uses a motherboard that does not support processors better. The best that you can hope to do is install a faster Celeron or dual Pentium processor but not an Intel Core i3 or i5 processor class. It's the HM70 vs the HM75 chipset. The laptop processor upgrades are also inherently risky and difficult. You are (almost) always more easy to sell your laptop and take the product, more what you would have spent on the upgrade and buy the laptop you really want. If you are an expert computer technician then here is the Manual:

    Manual

    It could pass this:

    Intel Pentium B970 2.30 GHz processor (speed 1333 MHz memory, 2, 0 MB L3 cache, dual core, 35 W)

Here is the processor for $12:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/Intel-Pentium-dual-core-mobile-B970-SR0J2-2-3GHz-2MB-socket-G2-CPU-laptop-/151262691471?PT=CPUs&hash=item2337f5808f

If you can do this update yourself for the price of the processor I think it would be very helpful. If you have to pay a tech more than about $80 to do I'd think twice.

  • Can I upgrade the processor in my Hp Pavilion G7 1273nr?

I want to know if it is possible to upgrade the processor in my computer? and maybe the graphics card

    You have the i3 - 2330 m.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

Yes, you could as high as this upgrade:

    Processor Intel Core i7 - 2620 M 2.70 GHz (turbo SC up to 3.40 GHz) (4.0 - MB
    L3 cache, dual core, 35 W)

There is no possible upgrade to the video without having to replace the entire motherboard. There are motherboards for him which go as high as a:

    ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6470 M with 1024 MB of discrete video memory (128 MB × DDR3 16 @ 900 MHz × 4
(PCs), 64-bit S3 package, switchable muxless

But if you replace the card motherboard and CPU, it would cost as much as a new laptop.

I have a laptop 214dx CQ60. I want to upgrade the processor in it something else. I read on the Internet it is possible to replace the processor too long you will find the right socket, power, processor etc. Is there a list out there which is compatible with the laptop I have? I was hoping to find a processor that will consider a dual-core to a core2duo machine computer. Thanks for any info you can give me!

Thank you for your help. I'm looking to an improvement in the operating system memory/too, so that the processor could do the trick. Was probably go Windows 7 64 bit at the same time. Thanks again.

  • Equium P300-190 - Question about upgrading the processor

    Hello

I just have a question for my CPU PC Toshiba laptop, I have a can of Equium P300-190 full to give model number if necessary the cpu is one supplied with the laptop.

My question is I want to upgrade the processor but do not know which would be the best option and there are limits with the BIOS, etc. on board.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably it is not known to you that upgrading the CPU is not officially supported by the manufacturers of portable.

The CPU upgrade is a tricky thing... the fact is that the CPU must be supported by chipset and BIOS.
Where a party would not support the new processor, the unit will not light.

So even if you use a CPU that is supported by the chipset (Intel GM965) there is a risk that the BIOS could not support the new processor...

The laptop was equipped with processor Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor T2390 (Merom code name) probably the other CPU Intel Pentium Dual-Core family-owned would be compatible, but to be honest, you won't see a performance improvement...

So in my opinion it is not worth trying to upgrade the processor...

In my opinion, you need to replace the HARD drive with an SSD... in that case you will get the performance improvement...

  • Satellite 3000 - X 4: can I upgrade the processor?

    Hello

I have a pretty old (~ 5 years) S3000 - X 4 with a processor Intel Celeron 930 MHz I recently did a cleaning the radiator unit and additional and fat of the lot because the fan never seemed to stop. It has improved and now the fan especially when the processor reached somewhere around 80% usage.

The problem seems to be that he who reached very easily, so I still have the fan going all the time. I think probably a better processor could stop this, however, I'm not sure I can upgrade the processor?

Anyone know anything about this? It seems in other parts of this model is sold as a Satellite 1200, but comes with a 1.2 GHz processor.
