  I understand the depth of field is not a fixed value.   I took several photos of a vegetable substance under a microscope.  My depth of field is very shallow.  I was told that if I take a series of photos, each with something different in short, I could magically combine the photos into one photo.  A photo will show the entire dept of the field as being in short.  Well, at least, represented by my seven photos.

  I was directed to Lightoom 6 which I just installed yesterday.  I've read about 'stacking' but I could not find a way to "stack" my photos and then turn them into a single image.  I use a modern 10 windows-based PC.

  I couldn't find a PDF of the manual for Lightroom 6.  I found a manual for Lightroom 'CC Help'.  What is the good manual for Lightroom 6?

  I watched the videos on YouTube until late in the evening of yesterday.  I saw how a stack, expand a stack, a stack of the collapse and add and remove photos in a stack.  But nothing on how to combine my seven photos into one photo.

  Have I been misinformed?  Or Lightroom for this?

  Maybe you can point me to a page number and manual?  Or maybe a You Tube video, I missed?

  Stacking in terms of Lightroom is to put similar images with the best image on top, hiding others. It is not the same as Focus Stacking for a depth of field. You need to Photoshop or Helicon Focus for this.

• Fragments from one edge of the "depth of field".

  I have a problem with AE CS5 fragments.

  I use a camera that points to some graphic objects (3D - Layer). These are *.ai and *.jpg files. I set the position of the camera and used the "depth of field" blurring objects in the 'context' (focus/aperture). On the edge of the targeted part and blur are fragments (see the image on the right middle).

  They change it alignment when I move the camera. Graphik from the bottom is all good and fine works in other scenes.

  The fragments are appearing in the project file, not only on export.

  How can I get rid of them (settings of the camera, export settings)? All advice?

  

  Give your project in 32bpc or 16bpc or manually create the DOF range by using effects of compound blur fed with a gradient map adapted. It is simply a problem of precision because your development area is so tight.

  I try to use the depth of field on an extruded text, but more blurred, sometimes it starts to become grainy and fragmented.  Is it normal that the depth of the effect of field AE or I have something active that should ' be?  I am running CS6

  It is simply oversampled. Increase the level of quality in the raytrace rendering parameters (parameters Comp--> advanced) and see your render time to explode...

  Yes. Don't know what you're asking here. These kinds of things are just an illusion. Nothing prevents you to animate several layers in back. You just have to find the right amount of blur, possibly combined with the opacity animation or other effects to sell.

  Hi Chris,

  There is a first effect called "basic 3D" which allows you to apply the ZDepth. It will give the basic options to apply 3D effects.

  If you want to use the more advanced options such as the use of 3D camera, you can use After Effects, but as directed by your request, I suppose the basic 3D option will work.

• Portrait mode on iPhone 7 +.

  Received my new 7 + yesterday and tried to find a way to take those portrait photos when the background is blurry.

  I found some tutorials and it just says to drag in portrait mode. My phone/camera doesn't have this option. I have the latest iOS update. Is there something that I need to activate?

  You are referring to the effect of depth of field.  This effect will be available with iOS 10.1, which is currently not quite yet.

• Any way to increase already turned to 1/2000 second in 25 p video motion blur?

  I want to turn some DSLR videos in sunny at f1.8 to achieve very low depth of field.

  Even at the slower ISO 100 setting it will require a shutter speed of 1/2000 second that will produce a very unstable motion in the region.

  Is it possible in FCP X (or elsewhere) that I can introduce blur just for movements in the video without affecting the static parts? (Probably NOT)!

  That's what NDs, exactly. Use the low tech solution. This is the best.

  Doing this in post production is a costly and risky operation: you must purchase the software, you must learn how to use it, you can be terribly disappointed with the results.

  Or, of course, it may be that you like to watch and learn to rely on your new tools for many more great experimentation as your work on other projects.

  I did not follow with pixel-level processors that will create razor sharp images blur. I hope that someone will be back shortly with a suggestion about an effect which can simulate a motion blur.

  It is possible to create a model in motion which may be moved to FCPX but it depends actually move when the shutter is opened things, it does not trail behind the pixels.
