  Ok... I think it's a virus... but I can't enter "search" to locate. When I connect my wallpaper rises on Windows and that's all. I start the Task Manager and type "explorer", but it says Explorer is not found. I did a virus scan and nothing came. Menu start has disappeared... How can I 'Search' a program when I don't have my Start menu or icons? And why 'explorer' is not found? Help!

  It could be a virus, or it could be something interferes with the Explorer shell.

  If you press ctrl + shift + ESC, open the Task Manager? If so, on the applications tab click "new process" and type explorer.exe and click ok. This starts the desktop computer?

  If the Task Manager does not open, then you are probably infected (virus often block access to the Task Manager). Restart in safe mode by pressing F8 when the system starts at the start up, just after the initial POST, and before Windows starts to load. This should result in a boot menu where you can choose Safe mode. Run your scans antivirus from here.

• I need to change a system setting of the control panel to the Desktop Gadgets.

  I want to put a clock on my desk. But when I try to open the setting, a window pops up: "The Desktop Gadgets are managed by your system administrator." I read the explanation provided by MS (group policy features, etc.), but my pc does not part of a network & it is not in a domain, so somehow that changing this setting for "Desktop Gadgets" sometimes there are. In any case, I wish I had a procedure step by step on how to disable the system of administration. function, even if I need to go into the registry.   I don't know, I never disabled Gadgets myself as I like the gadget to use CPU/RAM. But Microsoft recommended disabling some time ago. Maybe, if they are disabled is the effect it gives?

  PS - as one involves at least registry changes, your backup system in the first place, or at least backup/export your registry database and back up important data (documents, pictures, music, etc.) first.

  This probably means that a system administrator has used group policy to disable the desktop gadgets and prevent users from installing new gadgets. If you use a company computer that this may have been done in response to Microsoft is retiring from Google desktop gadgets platform initially because of security concerns.

  You will need to contact who has administrative privileges on your computer if you want to re - turn on the desktop gadgets.

  When updating Firefox, it creates a folder on the desktop called "old Firefox data." According to Firefox, it's when my old settings were saved. Time Machine using nothing else that place an old version of FireFox in my app folder.

  If they disappear again, try to uncheck this option and then repeat for re-check it.

  Not sure why it's just for you, mine did sometimes not appear from time to time in the past, but very well worked for many months now.

  If they fail again, you can try a restore point dates back to a time where they worked very well. That is, if they don't have say 2 weeks ago and then restore to 3 weeks if you can. Not sure, but it can help.

  You must confirm the first though if someone created a new administrator account so that you old account can be disabled or removed.

  In the case where non of above things that happened your pc can hit for some viruses then I would say to retrieve your data deleted first.
  Data recovery, you can use any freeware program like Recuva and make sure you select another drive of recovered data. You can make this setting any external hard drive or a separate partition.
  Once you have retrieved all your files, then I would recommend to perform a clean boot of formatting your hard drive and install a fresh copy of windows. Thank you
