  You can try the steps below and check if the problem is resolved.

  Try the following methods and check if the weather gadgets work fine.

  Method 1:

  This may be caused by corruption of the gadget.

  You can try to restore the gadget.

  To do:

  1. right click on the gadget.

  2. go in properties.

  3. at the bottom of the window you will find a tab to restore Gadgets installed with Windows, click it.

  This will restore it to the default setting. It has to become your Gadget weather work.

  Method 2:

  Try to modify the English (United States) system locale. Sometimes just changing system language locale alone is enough to solve the problem of weather gadget.

  To change the locale of the system,

  1. open region and language by clicking on the Start button, click on the Control Panel, clicking clock, language, and region, click the region and language.

  2. click on the Formats tab, and then, in the Format list, select the locale to use to display the date, time, currency, and measurements.

• Windows Calendar and weather gadgets does not

  Some time ago, my weather gadget suddenly stopped working correctly without obvious reason.  It displays the correct temperature, but it will not show current conditions (for example, if it's rainy, cloudy, sunny, etc.). I tried to turn off my security software, restart, and nothing seems to work.  The calendar gadget does not work, either... it shows only an orange white square.  The strange thing is, with the weather gadget, at least, will this work for the cities of other provinces in the Canada.  But it won't work for what in the province of Manitoba or whatever it is in the East that.  All American cities, I've tried seems to work fine and all the other gadgets I have installed work very well, including several other weather gadgets I have installed when this problem arises.

  In your original post, you use the default weather gadget in Windows? If so, what are you using for the current location (city, postal code)? When I used the Manitoba, I get 2 options for the Canada. Here are the screenshots.

  

   

  Also, you mention that you are able to access the weather information for cities to the East of your location. Could you give examples please?

  Try to rename settings.ini and check.

  a. make sure that the gadgets are completely closed (check in the Manager of tasks for sidebar.exe).

  b. open the browser, go to %localappdata%\microsoft\Windows Sidebar.

  c. save the file settings.ini in somewhere else.

  d. Rename settings.ini settings.ini.bak (or something else), it will regenerate the file. You need to add your gadgets back.

  e. open gadgets, it must be resolved.

  Gadgets are displayed using the Internet Explorer rendering features, and an inability to display is caused by security settings in Internet Explorer.  To fix:

  1. Enter the word internet in your Start menu, then select Internet Options from the menu that appears.

  2. from the Security tab, click Reset all Zones by default, and then click OK.

  3 - try to use gadgets again.

  If this does not work, here are two other solutions that have worked for others, please post back your results:

  Second method:
  1 - Hold down the Windows logo key, type R to open the run.
  Open C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\yourname corresponding to your name as shown on the top right side of the start menu

  2 - remove the Windows Sidebar folder

  Method 3:
  1. use Windows-R to open the run, then run regedit

  2. on the left side, navigate to this path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\

  3 - Check if you see a graphic small subkey between \Zones and the 0 subkey. If so, remove it.  Restart your computer and check how your Gadget are displayed correctly.
