Develop module disabled in the trial version?

I just downloaded the trial version of Lightroom and started working on my photos.  However, when I go in the develop module, I don't see instead of my picture is a large blue rectangle with an X in it.  Is it normal when you are using the trial version, or is there something wrong with my implementation?

Go to Preferences, click the performance tab, and then clear the check box
