Develop Web Services in APEX

Hello

I'm just getting started and I need to know what is the best way to develop a web service at the apex or expose functionality as such. Is this possible or do I have to buy a product for that? If so, which?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards
Pedro

Hello Pedro,

If you want to develop a web service, the APEX is not the first choice. You should get better for JDeveloper (also free).
APEX is perfect for consuming web services that...

    Y at - there no official explanation on how to configure and create native web services to Oracle 11 g and how to properly secure these services? Since Oracle APEX now supports web services use SOAP and REST, it makes sense to have more explanation on creating and securing web services. As know many PL/SQL programmers, it isn't always an easy task to develop web services in jDeveloper to work with databases - with all of these technologies to Add on as jPublisher/Toplink to get the job of things. It is not easy to get the 'How to' guide on creating and securing of the native web services in Oracle 11 g.

  • Best practices for connecting to a database from a Web service

    I develop Web services that need to connect to an Oracle database. Currently, I connect to the database using jdbc as this class:

    con = DriverManager.getConnection (connectURL, "HR_DATA_READERS", "xxxxx").

    I do not like this approach because it hardcodes the connection string and account information. One of our colleagues has suggested that we use the properties file, but this leaves the user name and password in full view. Given that we can define jdbc dataources on the server of the SOA and the server offers all the nice features like pooled connection etc, is there a way to connect to the database using the data source defined the SOA rather than defining a connection server jdbc in the Web service itself? Is the best way to do it or is there still a way paste?

    Thank you

    Hi, Alix,.

    If you are JEE compatible environment. i.e. WLS 12 c, you can use resource injection approach, instead of manually coding the above proposed DS research.

    More information on injected resources and you will find here - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19226-01/820-7627/6nisfjmbl/index.html

    "For example, you can use this tutorial - Servlet JDBC DataSource resource Injection" Open tutorials

    Take a look at sections 5.3 and 5.4 only, which is what the code should look like and how to configure resource in the web.xml file.

    And always use finally to try to close the db connection, otherwise in the case of exceptions, as it is not returned to the pool and at some point he's going to get exhausted.

    Hope this helps,

    I use JAX - WS to develop web services.

    I would like to know how I can find the process associated with an application ID.

    Thanks for the help

    you have the data sent in the request message. If there is a process ID was sent in the request message, you can retrieve it like anything another Envoy in the request message.

    If there is no such ID sent in the request message, you do not have it.

    You won't magically inquire about what anyone in a computer program, in particular on the other computers.

  • Web Service error on downtime

    We develop Web services applications.
    Someone after items, please tell us.

    (1) if, Web services, Oracle CRM On Demand to connect downtime if the error?

    (2) if, Web services and data to add to the capacity is exceeded, an error?

    (1) and (2), we are some mistakes and I want to know if there is an error message.
    We take care of these errors.

    Thank you.

    1. If web services are stopped or OnDemand is off service->, you cannot connect and you will not get the jsession id. Most likely reason will be Server not available.

    2 capacity is exceeded-> certainly you will get the error message, I don't know exactly what message you will get.

    You can also create Web services and page two processes using Web services. The process would go according to conditionally to the fact where your application is running - development or production. You just need some kind of a flag to tell you where you are

    We run in the question, that the PDF file is empty with the exception of a few fill-able fields that must be completed in advance by the call to the web service.

    When you run the web service directly from the browser, the PDF that is generated is very well and seems to be complete. And the size of the file that is created as the clob from the web service call is exactly the same size it as the pdf file received directly from the web service.

    When we compare the size of the clob to the size of the blob, we see that the blob is slightly larger in size than the clob.

    Any suggestions? (Sample code for posting to the hosted site for Oracle will not work because you can not call the hosted instance web services and web service is hosted BEHIND our firewall).

    Problem is resolved... As opposed to the use of the APEX apex_web_service.make_rest_request must use the utl_http.begin_request and then treats the query returned through utl_http. READ_RAW and who then saving it in a temporary BLOB.

    Maybe when we update to the APEX 5, I'll see if I can deal with it using standard APEX packages...

  • Through apex web service call.

    Apex 4.1.

    I'm trying to bind a simple web service to my apex page. Web service is hosted on a different server. When I try to add the path to the WSDL file reference, I get the error message. Obviously its waiting for a proxy server address must be configured. But we do not have a proxy server to access our web service. Even we were able to link the same service to an infopath form by directly giving the path to the WSDL file.

    Very grateful if someone can help me on this.

  • APEX Web service

    Hi all

    I try to use APEX Web service to make a rest request, the API integrated does not work for me and I have spent long hours to fix it but couldn't.

    Documentation on this API is small and the internet search came back much.

    Basically, I use PUT to create a compartment of Amazon s3 and whenever I get access denied from Amazon, when I use APEX in common to create the Web Service, and then use the web service as a process page that it will work.

    So, I suspect that the API now works correctly.

    I used the API below:

    L_CLOB: = APEX_WEB_SERVICE. () MAKE_REST_REQUEST
    p_url = > URL Service.
    p_http_method = > 'PUT ',.
    p_body_blob = > my IMG,.

    p_parm_value = > apex_util.string_to_table (V_HOST |': ' |) V_AUTHORIZATION |': ' | T_DATE |': ' | V_CONTENT_TYPE)

  • ApEx 4.0 the REST Web Services

    I need to build a URL to pass parameters to query to a RESTful Web Service. Looks like the default in 4.0 is to specify the parameters as a query (http://myservice.com/customer?id=23)... I need build the query a directory (http://myservice.com/customer/id/23) is there a way to do this easily? I think of "Body specified with Substitutions" option sounded promising, but can't find any documentation or examples.

    user11985346:

    Body specified with substitutions is used to DISPLAY or PUT a payload to the service. What you want to do, it is simply not set all the parameters for the query string, but only reference point substitutions in the endpoint URL. So in your example, you should have a URL endpoint:

    http://myService.com/customer/ID/&CUSTOMER_ID.

    Then, your application must contain an element named CUSTOMER_ID, and his session state should be established in function before calling the Web Service.

    For what I understand, it is not necessary to have installed to use the services of APEX RESTful?

    As mentioned by rwendel is not an Oracle database user / role you create, but it is specific to ADR.

    You can share the link in the documentation where you follow this step?

    If you want to install ADR using Oracle SQL Developer and use the various functions of the ADR 3.0, you can watch the following for quick information on ADR 3.0 sessions:

    Maybe I should create a thread separate, but my second question is, why I need for RESTful to work services have both apex_al.xml and apex_rt.xml conf files?

    Yes, Oracle APEX is not necessary for the accommodation of RESTful Web Services with ADR 3.0, it was necessary in pre ADR 3.0 versions.

    Reference:

    The 'apex_al.xml' is the configuration user DB APEX_LISTENER and 'apex_rt.xml' matches the configuration of the APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER DB user. You don't have to configure these users (if you do not want to use Oracle APEX). These users are necessary only if you want to use the RESTful Services with Oracle APEX.

    Reference: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E56351_01/doc.30/e56293/config_file.htm#BABHAJDE

    If you do not want to use Oracle APEX, then just configure the users ORDS_PUBLIC_USER and ORDS_METADATA.
