    Karthik.

    Hello

The biggest difference between ESX 2.x and 3.x is how the virtualization of the boots as well as configurations of network virtual host.

In ESX 2.x booted Linux then VMware took control.

In ESX 3.x VMware started then place the unit of management within a virtual machine started.

ESXi boots the vmkernel then starts a Posix environment in the vmkernel.

The book of VMware ESX Server in the enterprise passes over these differences in a bit of detail, if you are interested.

Yes. Just having ESX4 running if your guests are 32-bit or 64-bit, we saw the best performance all around.  In addition, something worth looking at are VMmark results

  • Differences between ESX and ESXi

    Hai,

As I am new to VI environment I doubt that where features ESX and ESXi are different, it may be stupid but can help me a lot.

    Hello

Please check the link to the differences between ESX and ESXi below.

    http://www.VMware.com/products/vSphere/ESXi-and-ESX/compare.html

Please note ESX is present in version 3.x, 4.x. starting vsphere 5.0, we have only ESXi.

ESXi doesnot have a service console and has the smallest footprint of 70 MB and so is safer and more reliable, because it has a smaller surface set.

Please allow points if you find the article useful.

  • Difference between groups of ports and VLANS

    Hi guys

I read ESX Admin guide 2 times till now, but I still don't know what exactly is the difference between groups of ports and VLANS? I understand, but if someone asks me this question I will not be able to respond with confidence.

Network also label: my understanding is that it's just label No technical significance in configuration?

    Thanks in advance

One VLAN is one of the many settings that you can configure for a group of ports, you also have the tabs security, Traffic Shaping and consolidation of NETWORK cards.

Port group name, you associate you a VM port group must be placed systematically on other hosts if you want to migrate or virtual failover from one host to another.

  • VCP exam question - the difference between the file exchange and the swap partition?

I am currently a student at my VCP and stumbled upon a question and was hoping someone could explain the answer offered.  Essentially the question is asking why you must manually create a local VMFS volume.  The possible answers were: files of storage for the service console log, decentralized storage for all the vmkernel vmkernel swap activity Exchange files for virtual machines that are configured locally and swap files from service console for the console service RAM overcommitment.

It is my understanding that the swap partition has its own format.  When you create the necessary partitions for installing ESX format the swap partition is 'swap', not vmfs or ext - 3.  Then, because the last three options are to swap/activity files, I chose the first choice, storage for the service console logs.  This study guide says I'm wrong and the answer is VMKernel swap files for virtual machines that are configured locally.   Of course, Miss me something here...

How you store Exchange files on VMFS partition?  I thought that the swap partition is the only place to have to Exchange files, and then it is on its own partition.  You cannot store a partition on a partition.

Maybe it's the difference between a swap file and a swap partition which is tripping me?

Search for, swap space as it is usually is a place to store a replica of memory the system for the purpose of managing memory better (usually data that are accessed most often).

SWAP PARTITION is now, for the ESX SWAP space.

And the EXCHANGE FILE is for some particular VM swap space that can be used by the guest operating system. The use of this file is managed by VMkernel. Now, this swap file has some different features from the windows of i.e normal swap, linux or ESX swap space space.

What is the difference between the HX - 90v and HX - 80 coming cameras?

    Thank you!

I'd say it's supposed to be a fill, a little brother to the HX90v

It removes the control ring and the GPS, and I think the rest is the same.

It is for those who want the HX90v but the price is a bit steep for the compact range, and they need not necessarily GPS or the ring of command, just a camera that works.
This kind of thing, at least to my knowledge.

  • Difference between the cDAQ-9174 and cDAQ-9178

I have several cRIO-9081.  Each cRIO-9081 running NOR-DAQmx 15.5.  On four of the cRIO-9018 we show you cDAQ - 9178 with 8 modules.  Everything just worked.  On the fifth cRIO-9018, we tried to connect a cDAQ-9174.  The aircraft appeared in the Windows Device Manager and MAX, but MAX has indicated that the aircraft was missing (error-88705) and that Windows can't find a driver for the instrument.

We then plugged a cDAQ-9178 in the fifth cRIO and everything just worked.

What is the difference between a cDAQ-9174 and cDAQ-9178 other than the number of the module support?

    Paul

    Hi Paul,.

It seems it could be a driver problem! What DAQmx version you have installed on two computers? Reinstall the latest version may be worth it because it looks like there may be corruption. You can find the latest version here: http://www.ni.com/download/ni-daqmx-15.5/5901/en/

You can manually associate the device driver, here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/5B80CAAA64413B4C86256C5E0000C1A7

There are modules connected to the cDAQ chassis?

Also, sometimes, this can happen if you do not restart your computer after the installation of the NOR-DAQmx driver. Restart your computer after the driver installation will allow you to reserve the device successfully. Here are a few others not to try:

    • Check the charger to device OR to see if it is running

    • Reset the service OR charger

    • Reset the MAX Configuration database

    • The system power cycle
