Differences between HA solutions

Could someone explain the differences between Data Guard, Oracle Streams, and Golden Gate? One or two sentence will be enough.

For comparison between Eve and streams, see MOS study between Oracle Streams and Oracle Data Guard (ID 300223.1)

Water course has three phases: capture data to redo, to propagate data and apply the data on the destination. All these three work at the database level.

Golden gate has three steps: Capture and delivery Manager. The capture is known as excerpt from process. the spread (delivery) of the data and apply data (manager) are carried out at the level of the BONE.

but I still don't understand the differences between streams and the Golden Gate. Both are Oracle products and looks to do the same.

Golden gate was a third-party solution for replication, which was recently taken over by Oracle Corp.

  • What is the difference between POS and VSC? Which should I use?

    Hello

Turns out we have a multitude of backup running for our virtual machine environment. We lack vCenter 6.0, 6.1 VDP, VSC 6.2P1, SnapManager for SQL and SnapMirror jobs put in place in OnCommand 3.1.2.

I go crazy trying to pierce the need to have all these products running of backups and snapmirroring data. Bottom line, our SnapMirrors for one or two Volumes take f o r e v e r... And that impacts my tests of SRM (when you use the replication of data).

I'm trying to clean up, he perfected down, consolidation, re-scheduling and friction on all these solutions. And in the middle of my panic, I thought that "these all do essentially the same thing? Taking snapshots and SnapMirroring data? »

So, my question to the community is, what is the difference between these solutions, or are they all essentially do the same thing? They confront each other, vying for the band width and stumbling on them to achieve the same thing? Right now my plan is to suspend all work of everything except VSC and SnapManager for SQL and do all this from VSC. This means suspend jobs in NetApp services.

I'm not the admin for POS, it is my co-worker, so he who installed independently of my work. Is it still necessary?

What brought me to all of this, besides the failure of MRS to transfer data (SnapMirror on request within a reasonable time) was noting the deltas for our work of snapshot is always huge at certain times of the day. For example, our biggest pork of data has a light snapshot at midnight, and he is constantly 71GB. This leads me to believe that this is a job, because it is predictable. The net effect is SnapMirror jobs take days, latency are several days and transfers has never really stop.

We plan to upgrade our pipe between our protected Site (HQ) and our DR Site (branch) of 50mbps at 100 Mbps. We have 100 out of our headquarters and 50 in our satellite TV right now, so we want to both be 100. Maybe that would solve the issue, but I still would be pretty effective.

If you need more information, let me know and I will fill you, or less make up something so I look like I know what I'm talking about.

    TIA!

    Steve

The reason why you do SnapMirror replication is DR. It is not a backup solution. If you stop all your SnapMirrors in OnCommand Unified Manager and your storage array, the production goes down, you no longer have a DR.

What does VSC is, it creates snapshots of your NetApp volumes, you can use for short term backup/recovery. The snapshots are not a real backup solution, however. If someone deletes a volume on the NetApp snapshots of this volume will not save you because they no longer exist. But they are still useful in many scenarios, such as Previous Versions of Microsoft CIFS options.

SnapManager aims to make consistent snapshots of demand for software such as MS SQL in your case. Instant database do not give you this ability, as they do not trigger the VSS suspension. More SnapManager for SQL gives you point in the ability to recover in time for your databases to SQL transaction logs, which provide none of the solutions above. However, as SnapManager creates snapshots, you must make sure that you have dedicated LUN for you SQL VM, otherwise you will be taking snapshots of the same volumes twice.

And now VDP makes backups of your environment. It supports long-term retention, as snapshots in general are not kept for more than one week or one month. Make sure that the data are stored on a separate volume from where are your virtual machines. Or ideally to a destination that is external to your storage group.

Hope that clears things up a bit. The result is, what you have is perfectly fine.

  • Portege R600 - difference between the cooling options

I have a Portege R600 with Windows 7 installed, but I guess my request is generic for all Porteges regardless of the version of Windows.

Could someone please explain to me what really mean "options of cooling" in the power settings? I could not find the details of anywhere.

Optimized battery means that the cpu fan is activated only beyond a certain temperature? And what is the difference between cooling and maximum performance?

Is there another way to set the speed of the cpu fan directly?

It is a very important point for me, because the fan of the Portege is terrible, too noisy, insofar as I plan to return the laptop unless I find a solution. Sometimes, this looks like a Ferrari to RPM 1 billion engine!

    Thank you!

    Hello

I think the explanation is quite simple: optimized cooling battery means that the fan is activated only on a temperature higher than the maximum performance mode and that s all I think.

For example, if I put the battery optimized cooling notebook is a little hotter than the maximum performance mode, but if I can save energy. ;)

In addition it s advisable to clean the laptop from time to time using a jet of compressed air!

  • The difference between relief Win8 and HP Recovery Manager disks?

    Hello

I'm going to save my brand-new Win8 ENVY 15-j022el and I was wondering what would be the best solution.

    (1) is there a difference between the repair disks created with Windows 7 native file recovery tool and discs created with HP Recovery Manager?

    (2) in addition to the disc repair, can I make a backup of the recovery Partition too? I guess this is possible with the Backup of Win8 tool.

    (3) more a curiosity than a real problem, but... Although I know, the Recovery partition can be used by pressing F11 or F12 key during startup.

There is another use of which can justify 20 GB backup size?

Hope my questions make sense to you.

Each piece of advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Best regards.

    Stef

    Stef,

According to your previous posts, it seems your computer is a laptop of HP ENVY 15-j022el and the document suitable for creating recovery USB media is creating a recovery disk Image or save a recovery Image on a Flash drive (Windows 8).

  • What is the difference between the VI of the histogram and the General histogram VI?

    Hello

I did a google search and forum for this and came up empty. I would like to know if there should be a difference in how the work of both?

I ask because I gave exactly the same table both X and was two different results, unless I also specified the interval bins / # to be equal for each of them. (level for the VI histogram and #bins for the general histogram VI)

It also means I want to know the difference between the intervals and #bins? They are the same thing with different names just?

It's more of a general idea on how the two screws work to obtain a specific solution to a problem, anyway, so any help is appreciated

    Thanks in advance.

    Pladio wrote:

Thank you. No idea why the same data would give different histograms when the specification is not garbage?

    Yes.

The normal VI, if you do not connect the entry "interval", will give you 10 bins, becaue that entry is set by default to 10.

The advanced VI, if you do not connect the "#bins" of entry, will give you a number of bins from comment how are made, or the size of the incomming table. This number is 1 + 3.3 log n, where n is the size of the array. This is called rule of Sturges, and is more or less explained in the programming of this VI. Open it and look at it.

  • Difference between SNMP and agent installs

I'm curious to know the differences between the use of SNMP and agents.

We have a Ubuntu Server that must be monitored don't know the best way to monitor.

    Hey Evan,

Here are the major issues. NMS you currently have is the snmp network Foglight solution. If you were to buy FMS, you could install the NMSAgent.car that retrieves data of the NMS system, you already have running.

I hope it's her. Networking FMS cartridge extracts data from SMN via web calls.

What is the difference between windows 7. x86chk.symbol.msi and windows 7. x86FRE.symbol.msi

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
If my assumption is correct, you are looking for which file to download service pack update.
Worry not choose files. Download the .iso to the update file, either burn it or mount or extract it and install. These files are called the symbol files. They differ in the language, for example. frequency refers to the French version. They are used to debug the Service Pack and are not really necessary unless you start to run into problems and try to find solutions on your own.
  • What is the difference between Cisco NAC and ACS?

I am currently part of a new construction project and my Cisco account manager and sales engineer recommend Cisco NAC for our new MDF. I'm confused because I don't clearly know the difference between a Cisco ACS and the NAC. What is the difference?

    Thank you

    Chris

    Chris,

The two are completely different, maybe the sales rep could present you with more information and application. Each offers a variety of services tailored to the specific needs. I think that we need to read more in depth on the proceeds of the NAC. NAC seems an excellent solution for authentication authorization but other regulatory compliance.

When you see ask your representative to sales for more information/demo.

ACS is more widely use as a central point to access control to network devices routers, an example is for acs accounting management and the authority to order on all devices on the network using acs as RADIUS server. Considering that the NAC is over a central point of safety inspection on earlier systems of access to your network by via LAN or outside, an example of these respected regulatory defined could be inspections could be virus definition checks before getting lan access thus preventing access to the LAN if the system does not have regulatory compliance defined in NAC access is denied. Another example could be the unknown local host connections etc... So, it seems that NAC is a much broader product that provides endpoint security internal, not only the authentication authorization as acs... ACS has been there for a long time, NAC is rather new product.

  • U3014, the difference between CAL1 and CAL2 modes?

In the preset mode color space for U3014 30 "monitor, what is the difference between CAL1 and CAL2? I tried both, but couldn't say a diff.  I know they are both precalibre mode that comes with the monitor.  Any info will be appreciated.

    course at 100%.

Look, in these internal calibration of monitors's done it with a 3DLUT. The native range is greater than AdobeRGB (in red).
Standard and modes Custom comes with native and native range WhitePoint (GBLED whitepoint, colder than D65 native), custom mode allows yo to set your desired white point.
At the factory, 2 calibrations are stored in LUT3D and they are NOT editable by the users (but can be corrected by GPU):
AdobeRGB: R, G & B coordinated (especially red coordinated), white point, and gamma of 2.2. 2nd is not very accurate.
sRGB: R, G & B coordinated, white point gamma and sRGB. 2nd is not very accurate.

AND as typical, monitor allows yo to store values of x LUT3D 2: CAL1 and CAL2 but it only works with the Dell Solution of Calibration color (DA), and DA only works them with i1DisplayPro.
CAL1 and CAL2 are just "USER SLOTS" for the storage of LUT3D calibrations, nothing more.
To the factory settings, they should behave in Standard mode.

  • The difference between the ADR and ADF

    People,

Hello.   I have implemented PeopleSoft Campus Solution 9.0 revision 5 for a University. I develop the application for Admission online for future student to apply for admission.

I need to install Oracle ADF (Application Development Framework) or ADR (execution of Application Development) to run my application for Admission online web page for PeopleSoft Campus Solution 9.0, but I do not know the difference between the ADF and the ADR.

    My installations are below:

Server machine: Oracle Linux 5.10 (64-bit)

Client computer: Windows XP Professional (64 edition) with the Internet Explorer browser

Architecture Internet Oracle Linux 5.10 Server:

    (1) database server: Oracle Database 11 g

    (2) the server application: Tuxedo 11 g

    (3) web Server: Web 11 g logic

    (4) browser: Firefox Mozila

    5) 8.53 PeopleTools and PeopleSoft Campus Solution 9.0 R5

On the download page http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/ADF/downloads/index.html , there are 2 packages to download:

    (1) execution of the 12.1.3.0 application development

    (2) oracle ADF essential 12.1.3.0

My Architecture Internet of PeopleSoft as shown above has been working properly for a long time. Logical Web 11g works correctly. It seems that the first 'Application development performance' package also install logical Web server which is not necessary in my machine. In addition, ADR is not free, and we may need to purchase the license.

Essential because ADF is free and without license fees, I chose Oracle ADF essential 12.1.3.0.0 to develop the application for admission online. I read his paper on http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/documentation/121300-cert-2164864.html

9.0 Solution Campus system will be run by a University to do business formally.

    My questions are:

First of all, what package is right for my application for Admission online Campus Solution 9.0? ADR or essential ADF?

Second, if choose essential ADF, I have a few questions about the 12.1.3.0.0 ADF to match my installations as below:

    (1) as indicated in the document, ADF 12.1.3.0.0 can work with Oracle Linux 5 & 6 (64-bit) and other operating systems. ADF can also work with Windows XP? Can I install ADF with my Oracle Linux 5 server machine?

    (2) as indicated in the document, ADF 12.1.3.0.0 can work with Websphere Server Application. ADF can work with Tuxedo 11 g?

    (3) as indicated in the document, ADF 12.1.3.0.0 can work with the Firefox browser. ADF can work with Internet Explorer in Windows XP?

    Thanks in advance.

If you want to use essentials, you must download the package from the essential. ADR is the complete stack where you must purchase a license.

  • Difference between different "trigger events" in the form of customization

    Hi Experts,

Can you get it someone please let me know precisely the difference between the various 'trigger events' (better with a simple example) in the form of customization in Oracle Apps?

    A TIME NEW FORM INSTANCE
    A TIME NEWS BLOCK INSTANCE
    A TIMES-NEWS-RECORD-INSTANCE
    ONCE - NEW - ITEM - INSTANCE
    WHEN-VALIDATE-RECORD
    1 by SPECIAL45

Mainly, I'm confuse when use A TIMES-NEWS-RECORD-INSTANCE, WHEN-VALIDATE-RECORD and A TIMES-NEWS-POINT-INSTANCE (it will be that it is very useful, if it is provided with a simple example to understand the difference between these 3)

    Thanks in advance,

    Bommi

    Hello

Once - new - form - Instance: this trigger is called just after form is called. If you can do what you need to do before the start of the form. Make sure that this trigger is called only when the form is opened.

WHEN-VALIDATE-RECORD: this trigger is called when the cursor is moved off the current record of the block specified to another record. This trigger can be very useful when trying to insert or update a record under certain costraints. If conditions are true to this trigger and form_trigger_failure will pass under the situation has no validation, recording is not saved. Thus, everything works fine.

Once - new - Record - Instance: this trigger is called when the cursor passes on a new record in the specified block. This trigger can be useful when it is necessary to set the computed value of an element at the level of each record.

A time new point Instance: this trigger is called when the subjects in the forms is entered.

    Hope this helps,
