• Cannot open .cr2 files in Bridge CS4 v.3

  Past review for hours; can not find the correct answer...

  I just bought a Canon 60 d, where .cr2 raw files. They open in Bridge, which has already opened my Canon 10 D raw files .crw. What should I do to make the .cr2 files?

  I prefer not to install Digital Photo Professional 3.10 Cannon (supplied with the camera) if I can find a solution/upgrade within Bridge/EP.

  Your CR2 files the 60 d are not supported for your version of ACR.

  Each provider uses different kind of Raw and sadly enough they also use another type of crude oil for every new camera produces. Adobe offers a free upgrade for the cameras, about 3 or 4 times a year. In the past, that they could not get new types of Raw earlier while consumers so often that meant you had to wait a long time before the ability to ACR was there. Today, they have a better relationship and often get pre model of production for the updates are already there when new cameras are entering the market.

  However being a commercial company, they don't offer upgrades for others then the latest versions of Photoshop and ACR. Currently, CS6 and CC are both get updates but the previous version don't are not updated any longer.

  CS4 software will not work under El Capitan (Mac OS X 10.11). The software is too old and will never be updated, because it is the end of life.

  • You can get rid of Photoshop elements 11, but I think you should keep the other application where you need it.
  • Adobe Bridge is the kind of an organizer.

  In the upgrade to the Mavericks of OSX, I formatted my hard drive and do a clean install of everything. I had tons of problems in the past with different versions of CSs. I'm currently minimise problems trying to not have first, and the installation sequence seems to be the first place to start.

  My notes 3 years ago:

  The file pcd.db that the Adobe guy had me move (on 12/19/10) had to be put back. They could not give me a reason why he had me remove this file. The only file that needed to be replaced was cache.db.

  I installed CS4 CS3 on top. None of the existing applications have been improved, or CS4 applications installed in parallel.   I know that in previous versions of bridge which came the names of files and folders as thumbnails in the content panel. Now, I noticed that Bridge CS4 in Windows 7 that the only way to know what that image, file, etc. is, would be to click on each one to get the name of the file in the Preview Panel. Some folders have a name placed on the top of the image file, but not all. I'm more interested to know what image file is a jpg, gif, psd, tif, etc..

  It's not a big deal... just make it a little easier to work.

  Bridge creates only preview thumbs for its own library of cache and not the

  the original files, they keep intact in the same files you have now

  on your system.

  You can uninstall safely CS3 without loss of images. However you will need to

  to cache the images again at the opening of CS4, but that takes some time.

  You will need to re-create new areas of work for the PS and the bridge, and then set

  preferences back to your wishes, but that is only once. Keep in mind that

  actions and brushes that you have created or loaded onto your CS3 application not

  automatically copy. Better PS CS3 save you first in a folder, you can

  If you have active quick thumbnails it will show no changes.  Need to have one of the HQ options enabled.

• Bridge CS4 crashes system

  I suddenly have a problem with Bridge CS4 causing my computer to crash (blue screen of death), whenever I try to use the bridge.  I contacted Adobe through their 'portal' several times over the past week and have received no help whatsoever.  I also called their hotline on three occasions and was assured that someone would be in touch, but heard nothing.  I'm a week on this problem and cannot use CS4 and bridge.  I uninstalled (thorough cleaning) and reinstalled CS4 four times and the problem persists.

  This seems to do it for me. I was a point where CS4 Bridge wouldn't even launch, so I first made the tour to hold Ctrl-Alt-Del at the launch and allowed me to restore preferences and she launched without problem (never uninstalled or reinstalled CS4). Immediately, I went into the preferences advanced and changed software rendering. The I tried all the movements that gave me the BSOD and it kept just to work. So I cross my fingers that at least will continue to work until the next version.

  Of course, I understand the mileage may very for others, but worth a try, it worked for me.

  After making your changes in Camera Raw, select Save new Camera Raw default from the menu drop-down (or however it's called in the German version). This will automatically apply these settings to all your raws shot with this particular camera
