Director vCloud on dedicated host

Hello

We have built an infrastructure vCloud putting machines vCenter vCloud on dedicated computers, rather than on an ESXi host as a virtual machine. The reason is that for the purpose, we have a fairly old machine for ESXi host to test, the only one we have with supported hardware virtualization.

Is it possible to develop a cloud in this way and if we do some extra things to make it work?

We could put the whole cloud until the point that we can access the cloud Manager web gui and added the VirtualCenter with the esxi host and the vshield running on that put us experience difficulties in all means of deployment a paralytic on the cloud.

Thanks in advance

fejese

There is no obligation to use virtual machines for vCenter Server, Oracle DB or vCloud Director.  It should work perfectly on a dedicated machine.

If you have problems other than the power of vApp on issue you mentioned in the other thread please provide the details of what you were doing and relevant newspapers vCD extracts.

    -Restart the ESXi host

-Activate the firewall ESXi 80 443 httpClient

Ok! Now, the problem is fully resolved. Guess what the problem... The internal USB controller on the blade has been fixed in BIOS to USB 1.1! I changed it to USB 2.0 and everything works twice as fast and I was able to prepare the vCloud host successfully.

Do not know why the BIOS setting has been changed just for this blade. Glade to have it well sorted.

  • Using the vCloud on hosted iland Director vCloud API

Hi all, I'm new to vCloud so please forgive me if I ask a stupid question. I am currently developing a solution of automation using vCloud API (.Net), and I have at my disposal a vCloud hosted on iland.

I am trying to run the .net SDK samples and I see that I must provide the "vcloud" url to connect. For example, the command to get a list with all current VM is the following:

    ListAllvApps VcloudUrl user@organization password

The thing is that I don't really know what is this "vcloudurl", I tried to use the value that appears in "URL for the default organization" on the parameters of the Organization (see screenshot), but I got an error in the response (rather than get a xml, I get an element html with text "Page not found" or something similar in the body).

Can someone help me on this?

    Thank you very much

    Jorge

    ilandsshot.png

I don't use iland, so I can't test it for real... but I did a few tests with what I could.

    URL of the API:

    https://dal01.ilandcloud.com/API

API version: 1.5 (5.1 I tried, but it seems that they are not on this version yet)

Example command to run with curl (most linux boxes can work and windows with Cygwin)

    curl-i k h ' Accept: application / * + xml; " version = 1.5"test@test:test u x POST https://dal01.ilandcloud.com/api/sessions

This should connect and give you a token of permission-vcloud-x.  If you know that the RestAPI can connect.

Hope it gets you going, wish I could do more but I do not have a full account to test with their services.

  • Renaming of ESXi hosts to vCloud 5.5 Hosting Manager

    Hello world

I wanted to know if anyone has experienced problems when you rename the hosts ESXi who is restoring the vCloud Director environment?

Our names for the Server naming convention has changed and it is now mandatory to rename all VMware ESXi hosts.

All the information/help will be very appreciated!

    Thank you

United Nations prepare a crowd of vCD, move it cluster at the data center level, then it reboot.  After that, do all your work in renaming (certs, hostname, IP address management, etc.).  Adding this back in is the reverse... put it in the cluster and prepare it to vCD.

  • vCloud Data Center hosts certified Services

We are looking for a hosting provider. Can someone give me a list of what hosting providers expose Data Center Services vCloud vCloud Director auto services portal, where I am able to configure my cloud services based on a pool of resources of clouds we buy?

I know bluelock is a. Who are the others?

    Thanks, Dave

    Hi Dave,.

My apologies, a little slow on the response!

vCloud Datacenter Services addresses in the enterprise space, and only a handful of providers a global level have this certification.  This essentially means that their environments have been jointly designed by VMware and the provider.  They use vCloud Director and expose the vCloud API.

vCloud Powered suppliers such as StratoGen have built their own environments, but to be certified powered vCloud you must be a partner of provider for VMware Service (VSPP), deployment vCloud Director and expose the vCloud API.  You have a choice of billing models based on the 3 types of data center virtual in vCloud Director - fixed monthly allowance & booking pool models and variable rates by the hour on Pay plans pay as You Go.

So the difference is really what you consider the market to be in - if you need a global business player then you should watch vCloud Datacenter Services, if you are into SMB or Mid market, then you should probably look vCloud Powered suppliers.

Many vCloud providers offer a free test drive of their services, so you can try with zero commitment.

vCloud Express was supposed to be the answer to VMware for Amazon EC2 - instant access to vCloud resources, only credit card payment, distribution plans by the payment of hours only.  Only a few ever offered vCloud Express providers.  You always vCloud Director, but you will see that there is nothing on the vCloud ecosystem as it rolled into vCloud Powered.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you

    Karl.

  • vCloud Director vCloud connector installation

I try to get vCloud connector installed inside vCloud Director. I deployed a VCC vCC node and server in my network ExternalRouted and I am following http://pubs.vmware.com/hybridcloud/index.jsp to a T.
Org network gives SCR Server 10.10.1.53 and VCC node 10.10.1.54
Within the vShield edge apparatus I configure ports as such

    -Screen Shot 2012-02-23 to 2.20.09 PM.png

    -Screen Shot 2012-02-23 at 2.21.33 PM.png

I can access my vCloud knot web server interfaces and fine, but when I try to register that a node with the server is just completely turns off. The VCC server can ping the SCR node with the NATed IP of 192.168.60.24.
It is located on this screen and two tracks and leave real quick or he just completely dies. I tried to switch to the Public as well, but it's still doesn't work.

If I go to the server and I click the button on Client vSphere or cloud.vmware.com I see this error and that doesn't look good.

I have completely open ports in firewall for these two vApps and not *'s everywhere, and it always shows the same errors.

I was able to complete the vCloud connector install with zero problems when I just did a normal vSphere OVF import save it on my server vCenter. This isn't a problem with the OVFs.

    Thanks for any help.

I have not tried.  Of course in my setup, my NŒUD is vCloud with a NAT address and which works very well.  It is the SCR is the issue because it needs access to vCenter Server.  You can try to use an external live... or just move right in vCenter

  • How multi-tenancy is activated in Director vCloud?

    Hey,.

I would like to know, how exactly the multitenancy is enabled in vCD. So how are the resources of the user a user isolated b resources. I think it's on user roles and the network of course. Maybe someone can provide some more info on this; >

When you register for a service public vCloud they set up your organization and deployment device edge vShield for your organization.  All your virtual machines will run within an internal network on a VIRTUAL LAN for you (usually 192.168.x.x).  The virtual machine have internet access, but there is no access to the default internet virtual computer.  YOU must configure the NAT rules and firewall on the device of edge to allow traffic in your VDC.  Usually, you get a few public IP addresses with your VCD service.  You pick one and configuration of the NAT or Port Forwarding rules.

  • vCloud Director - SVMOTION ERROR

When I try to SVMotion a virtual machine. I get the error "this virtual machine is managed by vcloud Director solution.» It is not recommended to edit it directly. Instead, use the management console.

The virtual machine is turned off in State

Please suggest how to SVMOTION a virtual computer managed by vCLOUD Director

    Hello

Even if it's a warning, we can migrate the virtual machine as long as under conditions are checked.

Note: migrate through Storage vMotion is possible, but there are several caveats.

    • Make sure that the new data stores have the correct storage policy and are assigned to the correct hosts. There is no vCloud check engine steering investment using this method and it can cause serious problems if you do it right.
    • This is not recommended for virtual machines configured quickly as they are inflated to the full clones.
    • It is not possible for VAAI quickly put into service of the virtual machines being unable to Storage vMotion them vSphere.
    • Balancing of virtual machines on data warehouses is entirely manual.

  • vCloud Director agent 1.5 and 5.0 ESX install

So I was stuck on this problem all day. I have install a LABORATORY VC, vCloud Director on ANY 1.5 and imported the vShield device. 2 guests can see both the same two LUN 1 TB. In VC is all looks good, but the question is now, I cannot prepare my 2 hosts. I have rebuilt the 4 times each. Both hosts are in an active cluster with DRS. I get the following error in vCloud Director:

    "Cannot prepare host."

Failure occurred during the preparation of the host 'esxi2 '.
    -esxi2
    -esxi2

I tried to force a manual installation:

    / var/log # esxcli software install--force d /opt/vmware/vcloudagent-1.5.0-453916.zip vib
    Result of the installation
    Message: The Operation completed successfully.
    Restart required: false

    VIBs deleted:
    VIBs ignored:

But then goes to vCD, it is not ready... I tried everything I can think of.

Logfiles which I need to sift through on the host to submit more information about why the TI of fails?

    Thank you!

even if you manually install the VIB, you always run the step 'prepare' vcloud Director.  VIB itself is just a module, and it will be not configured correctly until you run the action to prepare vcloud.

Please make sure you have a persistent scratch location, if it was a compact installation.  If you are on an SD card or a USB storage, make sure that it happens soon enough to process the download and install it in a minute or two... or it's a timeout.

either elsewhere newspapers that you would need to look at are the vcloud-container - debug.log (from the time of the State of the error), and perhaps the esx host logs in case there is a Setup error.

I thought I would start my own thread on this...

I have trashed my original oracle installation - and did it again. But have the same problem...

I installed oracle just accept all the default values. So, things like the name of the oracle is orcl and so on...

I also followed to the letter the instructions in the installation and here - guide http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1025768 which are substantially the same.

Here's what I entered the configuration of configuration vCloud Director:

Enter the host (or IP address) to the database: orcl10g.corp.com

Enter the port of database :

Using the default "1521" for the port.

Enter the name of the service of database :

Using the default "orcl" database service name.

Enter the database user name: vclouduser

    Enter the database password:

    Connection to the database: jdbc:oracle:thin:@orcl10g.corp.com:1521/orcl

  • vCloud Director pricing

Bit confused about licensing a minimum configuration for vCloud Director.

    (1) host: I have a vSphere Cluster managed by vSphere Enterprise more than licenses.

    (2) vCloud Director licenses: a little confused here. It seems by the VM, but the picture here http://www.vmware.com/products/vcloud-director/buy.html

    didn't make sense to me.

    (3) I assume a physical server is recommneded run vCloud Director, so I'm going to need that.

No matter what other physics or a licence, I'm missing?

2 VCD is accredited by the VM, but's done it in packages of 25 virtual machines (where the price indicated on the page you referenced).

3 VCD can be installed in a virtual machine or on a physical server, depending on your preference and the material available.

4 oracle DB license is not included and must be purchased separately from Oracle.
