Discover and explore

When I click Start, and then click on "Explore", I get the feature folders and files of the Windows operating system.  When I click on accessories, then click on 'Explorer', I get the same functionality of folders and files.  Windows Explorer the feature folders and files, and Windows Explorer Internet browser?  Is "Explore" the official name of the functionality of files and folders?  It is referred to as "Explorer" in the Windows Help search field.  But only 'Explorer' in the search field gives information about the Internet Explorer browser.  What is a mixup?  Can you answer this question so I can teach people a terminology appropriate on the use of their computer?  Thank you.

Windows Explorer is the component in Windows Vista file management software (in some versions, he actually was called file manager - bit that was some time ago).  When you open it determines where you are placed in the directory (and what options show on the left side and Center) - there is no set location options or the application form all points (it is different if you enter by computer when you enter through your username).  Here is a good article on what Windows Explorer contains, what is done and how to do it: http://www.3street.org/windows_explorer/ and here are a few articles related to this previous article: http://www.3street.org/windows_explorer/explorer1.html and http://www.3street.org/windows_explorer/explorer2.html.

Here is an article on the history of Windows Explorer and includes most of the earlier versions, XP, Vista, and Windows7 http://www.bing.com/reference/semhtml/Windows_Explorer?fwd=1&qpvt=windows+explorer&src=abop&q=windows+explorer.  This could be useful information in your ranked.  Here is another article on the Windows Explorer, which explains its features and options (and includes links to other sites with good information): http://www.onecomputerguy.com/app_info/explorer.htm.  Here is an article on Windows Explorer that begins with XP but to halfway through comes to Vista - it is a little more advanced than some of the others but it's my no means unreasonable and could provide valuable information: http://www.anvir.com/windows-explorer.htm.  Here's a last article on Windows Explorer with images that provides lots of interesting information (although a little basic but important and including a few things): http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/windows_vista_explorer.htm.

Windows Explorer is NOT a browser - Internet Exploerer (IE). Spirit has given you some good links on the explanation that separate the program so I will not add to them since your question was about the Explorer Windows Yes, the names are similar and that they are the two "Explorer", but they provide completely different functions.  You can download IE on an XP operating system or an operating system to Windows7 and they works very well - but Windows Explorer does not have a separate download function and is part of the Vista operating system (and the only way to recharge it if something happens is to do a reinstall (repair/upgrade or clean) provided by the manufacturer () a Windows Vista startup disk or the recovery partition or a recovery drive) which is essentially a system image once ready to ship).  The same applies to other versions of Windows (you must use the version of the Windows Explorer version only and there is no separate download).  You can not search the web with Windows Explorer - which is the function of Internet Exploerer.  Both programs integrate well together and make Vista a much better and more functional program by both being present.  There are many alternatives 3rd party for Internet Explorer (for example, Mizilla Firefox), but there are only a few no alternatives to Windows Explorer (and you cannot uninstall Windows Explorer to use).  Both programs come with Vista (IE7 which came with it has since modernized originally to IE8) and original programs cannot be re-installed separately or together if something happens to them - the full operating system must be in place (or the unresolved issue).

I hope this helps you with your class.  It is always good to hear that information like this are passed on to the next generation (I have taught Microsoft Office classes myself, so I understand the joy get you what you do)- and I'm impressed that you took the time to ask this question rather than just give the best answer you know)-tells me that you are a great teacher and your students will receive the correct information.  A word of warning, the different versions of Windows are completely different (3.1, 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Vista, Windows7,...) so when you are a teacher always keep in mind what version you use and make sure everyone knows how differentiate them - it's often quite deep.  And you can not take the parts you like a fair system and combine them with those of another version (components other versions do not work on the installed system).  This is not true for programs 3rd party (even if it's in some cases - some programs work on XP does not work in Vista, and vice versa - this is especially true for the antivirus and security software).  Microsoft usually helps you with this so that they have a http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-vista/default.aspx Vista Compatibility Center where you can check to see if the programs works with Vista (if they have been tested) or if they must be removed or upgraded (and is the same for the hardware and the drivers)).  Windows7 has its own centre, although I don't think that all older versions of Windows have such a tool (they have something similar - but nowhere near as good).

I hope this helps and if we can be of any other assistance (for yourself, a student or your class in general), please do not hesitate to ask - we will do our best to help you.

Good luck! Lorien - MCSA/MCSE/network + / A +.

  • Infected Winlogon.exe and explorer.exe accidentally deleted on XP Pro PC - need help from recovery console

    Hello

Windows XP Pro SP3 Dell Optiplex and been infected by Trojan in winlogon exe files and Explorer. AVG asked me if I wanted to force deletion and I foolishly agreed. Now, I get the BSOD and the message 'Windows logon done unexpectedly '.   It is a work PC and the CD only we have is the Dell CD to re - install and I know that I need as the first step recovery console. I don't know if the recovery console is on it, and then I need help for the uncomprressed explorer.ex_ and winlogon.ex_ and in their right place.

I'm not a total newbie, but it's been some time that I used the recovery console.

Help?  Thanks in advance and greetings to all

    Morey

Try to be more specific with the error messages you see, so it does not guess or try things.

Here is an example of a popular error message that sounds like yours (maybe):

    STOP: c000021a {fatal system error}
    The Windows logon process ended unexpectedly with the status of 0xc0000034 (0 x 0000000 0000000 x 0).
The system has been shut down.

    What exactly tell your message?

There should be copies of XP system files backup all critical already on your hard drive in the windows\system32\dllcache folder (it is this case), you may not need any expansion.

I would like to see the exact error message, make a CD bootable Recovery Console, run chkdsk/r even if he doesn't find anything to do and then see the replacement of missing persons or suspicious files, either by copying it in the backup copies of replacement of the recovery, or from another CD Console, you can do if the Recovery Console gives you a hard time (first do the CD Recovery Console).

First of all, you need to start on something...

You can do a restore bootable XP CD as follows:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the command prompt.

Start by checking the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.  It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

  • When I try to open Firefox and explore, I get a menu of recommended programs and asked me to choose the program with which to open the file.

Original title: open Firefox and explore

When I leave early to Mozilla Firefox or Explorer, I get a menu of recommended programs and asked me to choose the program with which to open the file. When I do, I get a security warning asking if I really want to do. If I check "Run", I get redirected to the previous list, and I find myself in a circle without end. It does not matter what choice to make. Used to be that I went from starting Firefox directly.  I can get in if I have Firefox right click and choose to run the file as an administrator and then give permission to open the program. How can I cut these two additional and direct access, that I used to enjoy. I run Vista. The same thing happens if I have to explore. Would be grateful for the help.

    Hello

1 during how long have you had the problem?
    2. don't you make changes to your computer before the problem?

I suggest that you follow the steps below and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

When you run an .exe on a Windows Vista-based or Windows 7 computer file, the file may start another program
    Method 2:

    Step 1:

Make SFC scan and check if this is related to missing or damaged system files.

    Step 2:

After the SFC scan, set the file association and check.

    Method 3:

Test the issue in a new user account .

  • My CPU runs at the age of 100% of use and explorer.exe is 93% _

How can I solve this problem? I tried scans, I cut my startup programs. Explorer 8 is my problem? I need help please?

Internet Explorer and explorer.exe are two different things - explorer.exe
is what is used when opening Windows/computer explore / your user profile
Such problems can be difficult to nail - but the most common cause is
    probably of malware any.
You say you have run some scans - what? You must run a full system scan
with you to update anti-virus and at least a spyware cleaner - MalwareBytes
    Anti-Malware is current best-of-breed.
Second cause is a problem with the hard drive:-run a CHKDSK
of right search box and see if it says errors - if it runs then one
elevated command prompt and run CHKDSK /F (windows will work say that it cannot)
Run now and ask to start after reboot - answer Yes and restart).

Third is the file system - a high command prompt and the command prompt
type SFC/scannow - and wait until it is finished, what might be some
    time.

See if that lot helps and post back with the results.

    Good luck

    Hi Livia

I checked the file and can see that you have used a browser background slide show, the filling of the page is the image of Heroes where thumbnails are disabled.

If you delete the slide show then the problem is solved as long as the red bar at the top and a white bar at the bottom comes very well with all browsers.

Please remove the background of the page slide show and use the same image in browser barrier that will correct the problem.

    Thank you

  • Time of loading very very very slow (Firefox and explore) with Flash content

    Yes Details:

    Professional Win7 64 bit

    Flash Player version: 11.1.102.55

    Problem:

With the two browsers (Firefox and Explorer, the latter with 32-bit and 64-bit versions) it is impossible to use the web pages with Flash content, cause the loading time is too large (more than a minute) and during this time, the browser seems frozen.

He began to arrive after the last cause upgrade to Flash version for a long time, I faced a strange behavior: whenever I rebooted the PC, a window with the request to update Flash appeared, and even I did the upgrade, the next time that I restarted the window appeared again. so after a lot of this, I decided to switch to the latest version available.

But now, I had to disable the Flash option in the two browser for surfing the web, otherwise it's impossible to do.

    Can you help me???

p.s. I already tried to uninstall everything with Adobe scripts, I also uninstalled Explorer and Firefox and installed everything again, but nothing!

How to do a clean install of the Flash Player?

  • Is it acceptable to detail discovered while exploring the Simulator?

I'm late to the game (but catching up, I hope) so I may have missed in the messages earlier, or perhaps in some subtleties I've "skimmed."

Is it possible to display the information discovered, for example, while exploring the Simulator?  I've been poking through the file system, for example, to see what I can learn, and there are some interesting things to find.

Certainly, nothing found this medium and written by a non-official person may be invoked, but some of this information may be useful to others in the understanding of the architecture of PB (current), features available or possible and so on.

For example, there is a file/usr/fonts/font_repository with a bunch of different fonts TTF in it, well beyond the obvious Alpha San BB and BB Global.

As a follow-up, after reading for a good part of the SDK License Agreement (which most or all of us accepted during the installation of the SDK), I note that the article "12. Confidentiality"applies quite largely the kind of information I thought post, so I won't start a"Hidden secret"thread for now.

Suffice it to say that everything I've learned has come as the result of the execution of 'nmap' on the Simulator, then taken quite evident with some reading on QNX.  Much of the same information could also be learned just browsing the files with a file Explorer app in the Simulator.

I expect that new versions come out, and we see what they document or begin to hide, it will be more obvious to know what kinds of detail should stay calm.

  • ronvix. R and explorer.exe

My laptop Lenovo G550 Win 7 has been contaminated by the horse of Trojan Win32\Ronvix.R (I think).  What he does is commissioning multiple copies of explorer.exe running huge amounts of cycles CPU, input/output, and paging.  Whenever I kill the process a new appears.  I'm unable to launch applications by clicking a desktop icon or by using the 'Open' in the menu drop down right-click.  No more that I can use 'Run' on the Startmenu. (I tried to run the "sfc/scannow" Command.  I always ' Windows cannot access the specified path.... "  You do not have the appropriate permissions... ».  Believe me, I do! And my AV isn't the cause.   However, I can get, IE Firefox running by finding a boot application that is already running (IE ESET Smart Security) and by leaving open Firefox from a hyperlink embedded.   I have run AVG, Malwarebytes (and their rootkit scanner) scans.  I have also discovered ESET detects the threat but cannot remedy.  Malwarebytes says I have 2 "forged disk sectors", but can't seem to put it in quarantine.  It seems Windows Explorer is shot.  Is it being restored? Any help or experience would be appreciated.

my start page since always yahoo, after 33 of firefox updated itself, the page quite a bit bizarre, his yahoo but not as the ordinary classic. I can't seem to go back even when I cut and paste the web address off chrome or explorer, where the yahoo page looks like classic its normal self. WHY is it be changed in mozilla firefox 33? I know in firefox 32 it is normal, when I go in chrome or Explorer, it looks good and yet not flip over in my mozilla firefox even though it uses the same adresse_web. Its driving me crazy, please tell me I'm not the only one this has happened (today 15 October, 2014) and what I can do to heal/fix and do go back to the way it was.

  • The letters and numbers are properly, am I not a compatibility issue? Is there an adjustment for this? My computer programs and explore are ok.

If I move the cursor over the letters or numbers that they snap up bright. In about 30 seconds, they return to the hazy State. This only happens on Firefox. not to explore or my regular computer programs.

This can be caused by incompatible Firefox with your graphics card driver. To test this theory, try to disable the use of Firefox hardware acceleration of graphics and fonts.

the button Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) > Options > advanced

In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

It will take effect after you exit and then restart Firefox.
