  I see that you have problems when you try to import MiniDV video from your camera to your MacBook Air. I see that you try to use a USB FireWire-cable to achieve this. I would suggest that you use a FireWire adapter rather Thunderbolt as a USB connection does not allow you to import the tape media in your computer.   Unless you need to keep the Windows files you put on the disk and copied to the computer, then I suggest that you simply re - prepare the drive for use on Mac. Because the drive has been formatted on a Windows system you cannot partition via the Mac. But you can re-prep. disk using the partition scheme GUID for the two partitions and format of one of them for MS-DOS or ExFAT using Windows. But as I said earlier, if you do not need to use Windows and want to use for the backup on the Mac, then he prep exclusively for Mac. Use Time Machine backup requires a volume that is at least 2 or 3 times the capacity of the computer HARD drive.

  Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere, I could not find another post as of yet with my set of circumstances.  I have a Macbook 2014 as shown air above 10.10.5 running and have had installed Boot Camp and windows 7 working for more than a year.  Recently, I tried to boot into boot camp and got the dreaded "No. Bootable Device" error.

  When I go to the startup disk in the settings I see BOOT CAMP Windows option to restart, but I get the above error when I restart.  When I restart and hold down the option I am not isolation presented with the option to boot into Windows or bootcamp.  I can see the boot camp partition in finder and disk utility.  I tried to create an installation disk Usb 2.0 with the latest version of windows software support in the Boot Camp Assistant.  I tried to use this drive to try to repair the disk, but cannot use the touchpad or keyboard or external keyboard.  Tried to use a player great external mac with a windows 7 dvd and had all the same problems.  I tried swapping usb ports and don't have anything yet.  I read somewhere that this could be a problem with the Usb 3.0 ports and drivers with windows 7.  Now I'm at a loss on how to recover it without having to reinstall.

  If I can see the data of the boot partition might be the problem?  I don't know what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I checked the purchases tab in the app store and it's not here. I really don't want to spend $14.99 on a soft which originally came with my computer.   I was getting full boot disk error on my Macbook Air 2012 model a few times, and then it stopped starting (folder flashing with question mark began to appear). I followed the instructions on this site If flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac - Apple Support

  but failed to copy data from the drive on an external hard disk. I could see my boot (MacintoshHD) on the disc utilities drive, but could the volume seems to be not mounted.  The size of the disk is 128 GB and only 12 MB seems to be free.

  Boot into recovery mode, open Terminal.app and type

  Mount - uw /.

  close Terminal.app and reboot.

  The Mac can read and write to exFat without problem. The problem is probably that the card is too recent for the readers into your computers.
