Distiller composefont PostScript error

Can someone take a look at what's wrong with the supplied PostScript. He works at the Distiller 9 with someone else, but on my pc, it fails with the following error:

. Joboptions \Standard (3)

%% [Error: undefinedresource;] [OffendingCommand: composefont] %.

Battery:

[/Verdana]

/ Identity-H

/ TemporaryFont

/ Font1

I'm out of ideas. I can't remove the identity-h because that's the way the tool use us (altsoft) it generates. Altsoft said that it generates on their pc.

There is nothing wrong with the postscript file.

Same postscript file distilled very well in earlier versions, so I think it has to do with the latest version of Adobe.  Tried the parameter f without success.  Few postscript files are working very well.

I also notes that, according to the documentation, the TEMP folder is writable. Maybe if you set TEMP under the current folder in the shortcut, and execute a file from there, it will work. Clear your error it tries to write a 'XSFT01.img' file in the current folder.

  • Distillation/Printing Postscript files with TrueType fonts

We have the possibility to include marketing inserts full pages (PDF format) in our documents/letters. These inserts put in the full postscript file that we send to a printing facility to print and send.

Whenever a new insert marketing is created, I run an audit before the flight custom to ensure that fonts are included and transparent do not exist.

The thing is, we use a few printing facilities, they have printing problems of resources/PDF files into postscript that have TrueType fonts. I also see some errors when I try to distill files with TrueType fonts: "Impossible to extract the embedded police 'JOLMKC + Times-Roman'."  Sometimes, I can edit the PDF to convert Type 1 fonts, but not always. Is it possible to convert TrueType to Type 1? Why TrueType fonts do not work? I did some research, and everything I've read says that TrueType fonts should work in postscript.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    What I use:

    Adobe Acrobat Pro XI

    Windows 8.1

Police of example I used with the error:

    Times-Roman (embedded subset)

    Type: TrueType

    Encoding: Ansi

    It also came with Arial:

    ArialMT (embedded subset)

    Type: TrueType

    Ansi encoding

Fix. In my view, that the file PDF is turned via Ghostscript.

I did eventually find out using Adobe Acrobat 9 (only tried the reader, not Pro), I got all the fonts to Type 1 fonts. I followed the exact same steps as I did in the 11. I don't know if they both incorporate different ways, but each time I have incorporate into 9, it incorporate all Type 1 fonts, not just some of them such as 11.

I get more concrete information on the technical process, but at this point, I have solved my problem. Thanks for the offer of help!

How to fix a undefined error?

It looks like what you were doing was trying to run distill directly on a document .indd InDesign file. Who will absolutely not work. Distiller processes only the PostScript (.ps) and Encapsulated PostScript (.eps) files.

The appropriate method of creating a PDF file from an InDesign document (no matter whether someone else can advise you) is to open the InDesign (.indd file) document in InDesign, and then use the function export, Save as PDF (print), by specifying the name of the destination file (and directory) as well as the appropriate options (generally PDF/X-4 parameters or printing of high quality performance best results for most of the cases).

    Hello

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

    Yes, very simple.

Distiller converts PostScript files to PDF. It is impossible to convert Word Documents to PDF files. You got an error because you tried to feed to distill a .docx instead of a PostScript (.ps) file file.

You create a PDF from Word of in Word itself of the print dialog box by using the Adobe PDF option (at the bottom of the print dialog box).

The problem is probably due to the printer driver options set by default for the printer PostScript of PDF from Adobe driver instance.

To resolve this issue, quit programs and go to the Adobe PDF printer Properties . On the Advanced tab, press the button default printing . Select the Adobe PDF settings Look for option rely on system fonts only . Uncheck this option. Then press OK. Select the general tab, and then press the button Preferences . Still once, select the Adobe PDF settings Look for option rely on system fonts only . Uncheck this option if it is not already unchecked. Then press OK and click OK again.

This should fix the problem. Please report back with your results.

  • Map explanations ArcGIS - LimitCheck error - PDF please?

    Hello world

I try to print to PDF from ESRI ArcMap.  There are 5 cards very complicated A0.  I could use the export function, but it doesn't produce good results.

When I try to print to PDF, I get the following error:

A limitcheck error indicates the buffer data are too complex for the PostScript interpreter to deal. "eoclip" means that you have curves with too many points, and it is, unfortunately, a common problem with maps. You need to talk to ESRI - it is their dialog, nothing to do with Acrobat.

Acrobat: Acrobat 9 PRO Extended (version 9.0.0)

    I tried the following:

    1. open Acrobat Distiller-> font settings, remove all the fonts except the one with "Resource\font". Closed the dialog box and reopen the Distiller. I don't see any sign that Acrobat Distiller tried searching the entire hard drive for fonts.

Please advice, thank you! FYI, PDFCreator works well in this case.

So the bottom line here is that Distiller cannot find Cambria. Distlller is not to search the entire disk for fonts - do not know why you think he would, because you must add the directories of fonts to remove them can only improve this problem - only worse. Try to add the specific font directory that contains Cambria.

  • Error to distill PDF

I tried helping my colleague to solve the error Distiller in vain for the day of class below.  When you print a PDF with tags and bookmarks, the pdf file gives an error in Notepad and the pdf fails to print.  I searched forums and have found other people with similar problems, but no answer on how to solve this problem.

The really weird part is that I can print out the pdf very well from my computer, but my colleague may not print the same book file in PDF without the error.  I would just print the file for it, but there are several other similar to print, and they all produce the same error at the same place.

    Hi Richard,

The "findfont" offending command indicates that there is a problem with the specific font or text element.

You should perhaps consult the doc KB link mentioned below and try the troubleshooting steps:
