don't expect to remember passwords

Apple Safari remembers each of my passwords frequently used on web pages. I just downloaded and installed version 3.6.3 for Snow Leopard. I transferred all of my favorite Firefox yet some sites do not have to remember. I went to your help page and was directed to a "bookmark" - but couldn't find out how to use it?

URL of affected sites

1. you must click on the Remember password button, then select bookmark this link . If you right-click anywhere elsewhere on this page it will appear as a bookmark on this Page - you do not want to bookmark the entire page.

2. you can save this 'connection' by click and hold the Remember password button and dragging it in the bookmarks toolbar or in the drop-down list the bookmarks menu bar.

  • Why if I don't want to remember the story, can't I remember passwords?

I saw if I choose in privacy settings that I don't want to remember my historical web navigation of Firefox, I can't check (or uncheck) the security setting to remember my password on sites.

I think that these are two different things and maybe I could remember my password (protected by a master password of course) even if my not to save my cookies. You can bookmark pages even if you do not keep the story right?

    Thanks for reading my question.

You can only register a new name and a password when you are in normal mode and not in private browsing mode.
Mode PB, no data is stored on the disk (you can create/modify exceptions), then you will need to temporarily cut off private browsing mode to store a new password.

You can use an extension for private browsing mode support tab.

  • How options are related: "confidentiality > don't remember history ', ' privacy > settings customized user > permanent private browsing ' and ' security > remember passwords?

It is said in support of the pages that the option ' Privacy > don't remember history ' is equivalent to private browsing.
He said also that after you activate private browsing does not store history or passwords.

So how are related options: "confidentiality > don't remember history ', ' confidentiality > settings customized user > permanent private browsing ' and ' security > remember passwords?

    (1) if I activate "Privacy > don't remember history" fact it also means that the passwords are not stored?

    (2) activate instead
"Privacy > settings customized user > permanent private browsing."
This still implies that passwords are not stored?

3 If 1) or (2) are together, what is the role of the apparently independent option "security > remember passwords?

I'm sorry but the logic of the user interface is not really clear for me

    Thanks for your help.

    1. Yes. Setting "Firefox will: don't remember history ' prompts you to restart Firefox, after which 'always use private browsing mode' will be checked. The option "Remember passwords for sites" will be disabled and unavailable (grayed out).

    2. Yes. It's the same thing.

    3. as I said, in this case the option "Remember passwords for sites" would be unavailable (grayed out). The rest of the time, this option allows to disable the registration of passwords not in private browsing mode.

  • The "Remember passwords for sites" setting maintains have turned off whenever I close Firefox.

After the ESR 38.0.1 (and later upgrade to 38.0.5) the "Remember passwords for sites" setting is disabled after the closure of a browsing session. If I like the beginning of a new session, it works exactly as expected, but the setting never persists between sessions.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

Make sure that you are not Firefox running in permanent private browsing mode (don't remember history).

Many hotels offer wifi access with a good and an ID that you enter each time that you connect. I can can this setting somewhere or get the prompt back?
I'm never fast enough to click "remember password".
    Thank you

This happens on all websites, or just this one?

If there is a key icon located on the left side of your address bar, you can click this option to open the password prompt again.

If there is no key icon in the address bar, it is most likely because the site is configured to redirect to another page or a domain. Once you are redirected or navigate to another page, the password dialog box will disappear.

Unfortunately, if this is the case, nothing you can do, as the redirect is probably in the codes of the Web site. The only option would be to try to stop the redirection Web site by clicking on the button stop in the address bar.

You can also try temporarily turning the accessibility setting that prevents the redirection of Firefox Web sites. This can be changed from the advanced settings in the page options, on the general tab.

Let us know if it works.

Note: If you stop the redirection page, you probably to reload the page after you have saved the password, in order to allow the site load the appropriate content. If you turn on the warn me when forwarding setting, you will need to disable this feature, after you save this password, so that the website to function properly.
