  CS5 cannot go higher than 6.7. If your device requires a more recent version, download the free Adobe dng converter. You convert your RAW to DNG, which can then be processed 6.7 in camera raw.

  I want to do two-pass sharpening - capture and output - with output just before printing. I do the initial sharpening (capture) in the Panel of the cab detail/sharpening, with amount slider game for example, 100.  Then, I open the PS CS5 image as a smart object and use layers and masks for more editing.

  My question is, can I go back to ACR for the final (output) sharpening pass?  When I re - open the file in ACR, the sharpening amount slider is zero, but the other three sliders are still at the settings I used at the beginning of the process, i.e., capture sharpening.  If I still once set the amount slider to a positive value, and then open the image in PS for printing, will be my second pass through the ACR sharpening Panel take effect - it will accumulate on top of the initial sharpening?

  Moreover, the reason why I want to give sharpening in ACR, rather than, say, PS Unsharp Mask, is if I can use the masking slider in ACR, which is much easier than the comparable techniques available in PS.  I am aware that some people say that you shouldn't perform any masking for output sharpening. I would, however.

  Not sure about the amount reset... I think that something is happening out there. But to answer your question, the details of Camera Raw Panel is designed to be a capture sharpening and not designed to be output sharpening. Controls are really designed to regain lost sharpness turning light pixels with an optical system only.

  In Adobe Camera Raw, if I put my 21 canon 5 d Mark II as a 50 megapixels, and it looks a lot like my IMac 27 in. monitor, it's the size and my comparable as the 21mp, each has been set at 200 resolution.

  Also, if I open my 21mp resolution to 72 0r 96, I get much more of the image, then in PS, I just to the top of the resolution it at 300 and it is very nice too.

  You need to understand the basics better.  MP is the number of Pixels.   The resolution is the size of a Pixel is to be printed.

  72 DPI means pixels are 1/72 "x" 1/72 there is 5 184 pixels per square inch.

  300 DPI means that pixels are 1/300 "1/300 x there is 90 000 pixels per square inch.

  Your sensor 5 d MkII is 21MP 5, 616px x 3744px

  Printed at a resolution of 72 DPI these 21 MP would print 78 ' x 52:

  These 21 MP would print at a resolution of 300 Dpi and print 18,72 "x 12,48"

• Adobe Camera Raw Update 9.1 - do not install in PSE 13

  9.1 ACR update is out for months, but it was not installed in my 13 PES recently bought when I downloaded it.  Now, I get the message that I am aware, but the card in the list still shows ACR 9.0.  What will be the fixed Adobe?  What can I do?  I wonder how many other updates, I'm missing.  I got 13 PSE for not quite 5 weeks.  Should have waited for 14.  I'm guessing that Adobe should concentrate more on bringing to 14 the problems with 13.  This is typical.

  On Windows 7 64 bit, I have Photoshop Elements, 13/13.1/Premiere elements and Photoshop Elements 13/13.1 14/Premiere elements 14.

  Elements of Version 14 ships with Camera Raw 9.1. Version 13 to update Camera Raw is 9.0.

  While Camera Raw 9.1 cannot be obtained with 13 / 13.1 to help Menu/updates, the file of plug-in obtained from different sources can be installed manually

  1 download the DNG 6.6 converter and install profiles:

  6. right click on Assets2_1.zip and click on extract all

  

  7. rename the 1002 in Camera Raw.8bi

  

  8. right click on the Camera Raw.8bi and choose copy

  9. go to:

  C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Adobe\Plug - Ins\Elements 9\File Formats (vista 64-bit)

  or

  C:\Program Files\Fichiers Adobe Plug-Ins\Elements 9\File Formats (vista 32 bit)

  10. slide the old plugin raw from the camera to the trash and then right-click in the empty space in the folder and choose Paste

  Start the editor of PES 9 and less help > about plug-in > Camera Raw should say I hope than version 6.6.

I have download the NAVE images for my HP laptop using a memory card reader. I installed creative cloud bridge. When I check in Photoshop CC 2014, it says that the Camera Raw plugin 8.7.1.311 is present. But if I try to open a picture from the NAVE, it fails and says it is an unsupported file type. When I'm in Bridge, the option 'Open using Camera Raw' is faded and cannot be selected. Then what should I do? TIA, Rob

  Success! My problem is I had the old version of the Nikon software on my computer and I used to upload photos. I copied the NEF files directly from my memory card reader and then could not open no problem in Photoshop CC 2014. Thanks to gener7 and everyone who made suggestions.

  You can temporarily disable all add-ons and check what is happening.

  Your second question:

  In Bridge, click Edit > Preferences > file type Associations.  Scroll through the list to find the types of files you want to edit in Photoshop, click on the arrow down.  Click Browse and navigate to Program Files > Adobe > Photoshop and select Photoshop.exe.  (I'm looking at an older version of PS as I type this, but you get the idea... I hope so).

  Once done, launch Photoshop and click Help > about plug-in > Camera Raw.

  And check the version of Camera Raw, you see there, it should be the most recent.
