Downloaded Firefox 8 and history, tools, etc. in the upper bar disappeared... where t0?
With the old Firefox, there was another bar located above the tabs for history, tools, etc. Home button for google, etc... where is this bar go... very confusing!
"Firefox" button > Options (2nd column) > [x] Menu bar
Also uncheck the tabs on top
You can return to the new mode via view > toolbars >...
Needless to say that I think that a large part of the new formula which wastes space and give you very little control. The top 10 items get back you to what you had, if you follow it down with some styles you get all your old stuff in the same space as the new style (assuming that you have need of tabs and bookmarks toolbar)
You can make Firefox 8.0 look to Firefox 3.6. *, see numbered items 1-10 of the next topic difficulty Firefox 4.0 UI toolbar, problems (make Firefox 4.0 to 8.0, resemble 3.6). If you make changes, you must be aware of what has changed and what it takes to use changed or missing features.
It is much more beyond these first 10 steps in the list, if you want to make Firefox more functional.
Before and after the customizations, the following also includes hair changes outside to rearrange toolbars and toolbar items.
- Toolbar bookmarks- Files/Bookmarks Toolbar Fx4 blue, red/bookmarks
- Tab-borders tab color highlighting active/read/not read (Fx3.6) red = tab active, blue = read, green = unread, magenta (not shown) = load

A necessary thing, to see when you sign into a site id Web Audit Web site as provided by companies like Verisign. In Firefox 4 the Verisign warning symbol that changes when unknown elements are found on a page is no longer located on the page or the bars of the window of the browser. Is there something that should be set up to see this vital protective function?
On older versions of Firefox - it appeared as a small lock wicker. If the site was a suspect the lock would show with a red bar top (on earlier versions), then with a small visual extension. It's all above and beyond the https in the address bar. Any information on this would be appreciated. Best regards, John to Brothertown books
The padlock shows only that there is a secure connection and does not guarantee that you are connected to the right server.
So you could always be connected to the wrong server if you make a typing mistake in the URL and someone said that mistyped the URL.
The lock feature has been replaced by the How do I know if my connection to a Web site is secure? on the left end of the address bar.See also:
You can click on the How do I know if my connection to a Web site is secure? on the left end of the address bar to see the padlock, if there is a secure connection.
Click on the "More information" button will show more details of the connection.
The background color of the "Site identity" button on the left end of the address bar will change color (blue or green) and show the field in the case of a secure HTTPS connection.- Pass it How do I know if my connection to a Web site is secure? see "Verified by xxxx".
- Click on the "Site identity button" on the left end of the address bar to see the padlock
- Click on the "More information" button in this ToolTip to see additional information about the connection.
You can use this extension to get a lock on the address bar.

For example: I could type 'facebook' in the address bar and it would automatically take me to facebook.com now he takes me to google.com and shows me the search results. I want that Firefox take me directly to the page as before I installed Firefox 4.
I hate this new feature. Here's how to disable if:
Come on in "subject: config" in the URL
type in 'keyword' in the filter bar
Locate the property "keyword.enabled.
Double click on it to make sure that the value is set to FALSEeventually Firefox will take you directly to a Web site when you type in, instead of doing a search for it. Know that, if the word that you type does not lead to a Web site live while you're not going nowhere.
To counter that, for example, if you want to go to Facebook.com , but don't want to change anything in the settings of Firefox, hold down the 'Ctrl' on Windows when you enter a URL. Which will automatically add the ".com" at the end of any word you typed in. Note that this adds only the ".com" and will not automatically recognize ".edu", ".gov", etc.

Versions of Firefox 3.6 + have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar.
Press the Alt key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open view > toolbars and select menu bar, so it has a check mark.
The F10 can also be used on most PCs to temporarily reveal the menu bar. -
How can I get the back toolbar that says "file, editing, history, tools, etc.?
Don't see the menu bar (file, publishing, display, history...) (Help)? Hold down the key (key in OSX) and press the following letters in this exact order: V T M
The bar of menus must now appear permanently, unless you turn it off again (view > toolbars). Turn on/off the menu bar is a new feature in version 3.6.
See the other bars under view > toolbars. Click on one of them will place a check mark (display) or remove the check mark (not shown).
To display the status bar, display, and then click status bar to place a control mark (display) or remove the check mark (not shown).- If items are missing then see if you can find them in the view > toolbars > customize window.
- If you see the item in the window customize then bring her back in the window, customize the Navigation toolbar.
- If you do not see this item then click Restore default set in the view > toolbars > customize window.

just downloaded firefox 8 and disabled mcafee site Advisor how to get back to version 7
just downloaded firefox 8 and it disabled the Advisor site on my mcafee security suite. How to get back to version 7 until the site Advisor is compatible with version 8?
Although I gave up on it for now, if you don't have a lot of extension, you can run it in Version 8, actually if you ran it 7, you're probably doing something else that activate. As their website says you a version number you suggest to reinstall and restart Firefox twice, see
I have reactivated it as I had turned it off and it works, guess I'll try it for a few days now that I'm on 8.0. While the difference between what I ran on 7.0.1 this is I have reactivated earlier "McAfee Site Advisor" but then the main reason that I have no problems is that I avoid bad extensions.
I see that it is not marked as compatible with 8.0 but many of my extensions are not anyway. I have
- extensions.checkCompatibility.8.0 set to false
and my McAfee Site Advisor is 3.4.0
The extensions that I use are listed hereand I actually have links with the compatibility reports it for each extension, but were not check things there for several months.

I downloaded Firefox 5 and discovered that it disabled my McAfee SiteAdvisor as inconsistent. No compatible version of the SiteAdvisor has been found. How do I remove the Firefox-5 and reload my old Firefox 4 so I can reactivate the SiteAdvisor?
Thank you
McAfee Site Advisor 3.3.1 expansion was the number 2 cause accidents in one of the versions beta Firefox 5.0 and Mozilla Blocklisted it. This extension is disabled in Firefox 5, Firefox 6.0beta and Firefox 7.0alpha versions. McAfee is working on a new version of re-written extension of the Site Advisor to solve their problems - ETA is mid to late July.

Since the installation of Firefox 8, when I type anything in the address bar and then press "enter" or click on the arrow for "go to the address in the address bar", nothing happens! Similarly if a place is indicated by the location bar AutoComplete feature. I hit "enter" or click the "go to" and nothing happens. " Keyboard shortcuts to "complete the .com, .net, etc. addresses" doesn't work or the other. The address bar has worked well for entering web addresses before Firefox 8. Help, please.
Try Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there.
A way of solving problems, which disables most of the modules.
(If you use it, switch to the default theme).- You can open the Firefox 4, 5, 6, 7 SafeMode pressing the SHIFT key when you use the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
- Or use the Help menu option, click restart with the disabled... modules while Firefox is running.
Do not choose anything at the moment, just use 'continue in safe mode.
To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the shortcut of Firefox (without the Shift key) to open it again.
If it's good in Firefox Safe mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one.

I downloaded Firefox this am. Had to leave before the end of the download. During the day, electric circuit breaker closed computer unexpecedtly. After the reboot, downloaded Firefox again, dragged icon to the applications and had 'cannot use Firefox on this OSX' Finder message have always used Firefox to the default browser. Don't know what I did. Should I uninstall Firefox and try again?
Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5. You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla is working to keep Mac users with non-compliant systems to enter the notification on Firefox 4 and also do not display the button 'Download Firefox 4' on http://www.mozilla.com
