• Drop-down list complicated, making several text boxes

  Hello everyone. I searched high and low for something to talk about exactly how to do what I want - but I'm not finding anything that is quite right. Anyway, I want a drop down (with potentially hundreds of choice - I'd like to limit the number, but there is really no way...) where someone can choose their selection, then, after this election, several other text fields are filled with the corresponding information. I would like to have a file of database with the drop-down list of choices, then define somehow this on the ground and then what information goes into the next text box. This way you can get something from the menu drop down and the other boxes get filled correctly. Is this possible?

  Hi Joel, I think, if the information does not change much then your best bet is to stay in shape, as independent as possible, is to have the information contained in the form.  There are a number of connectivity problems that your users could suffer with an external data source.  I do not expect performance to be a problem, I developed forms with thousands of selections in a drop down, you can find the example I did a drop-down list of useful research in the Adobe Cookbook section, http://cookbooks.adobe.com/post_Drop_Down_List_Control_with_auto_complete__Searcha-18402.h tml, if your data contains a hierarchy then there are a number of examples around dependent dropdown lists to try , like this one http://thelivecycle.blogspot.com.au/2011/01/multi-level-dropdown-list.html.   The problem is, it does not take the value that the user selects in the drop-down list and the text field. It takes the default value as "January" and the year is '2013' as these two values are given as selectedIndex:0 and editContents: "2013". I compared the coding with a few other scripts work as well, but it does not work. I added several alert boxes to check the value we get.

  In addition, search for it and change also does not work. Please help me on this. Thank you.

  I've read about the binding of the two drop-down lists when you select something in the first box and then it adjusts the options in the second drop-down list box.  I love those who can use in the future.  I have a question a little.

  Can I have two lists that both selections control what fields appear below drop-down list?  For the examples list 1 to A, B and C list 2 has red, Orange and yellow.  I'll choose different combinations of the two and have different things to be displayed.  At Red and has fields 1, 2 and 3 show.  B and yellow display 1 and 3 and so on.

  Is this even possible or do I need to create different combinations all in one field and script the different responses that, I think I know how to do?

  Hello

  The problem is that you are hiding the subform, BUT you try to assign to the presence of individual boxes in the subform visible. It won't work, because the subform itself is set to hidden.

  Look at the boxes to check and see if you can group them in series that are always hidden or visible. Then script against subforms and NOT the boxes. If you can not group the boxes then you will just have to refer to them individually.

  The textfield object was just a typo.

  I don't write js, but can grasp what it did when I hang a sample edit and re - purpose. I have a form simple fax that already resets to the opening. Here's what I'm doing:

  User selects the sender's name in the drop-down list of about 15 (grow w / hour)

  Fill in the following text field "sender Fax #" with the number of direct fax (xxx-xxx-xxxx in the js) user

  Are also complete this later text field "sender Ph #" with the number of direct ph of the user (xxx-xxx-xxxx in the js)

  Hello. I have a javascript code to click a button and it will insert the date in a text box named "Controller_PDF_Creation_Doc_Control_Date" in my form. I also have a drop-down list called 'Release_Approval_Initials '. Everything I'm doing is when there is a date of entry in the text box, I want that the 'Release_Approval_Initials' of the menu drop-down default by selecting the option "TM".   I figured out how to make it work. I just had to add parentheses in the right places to make it work. Here's what I did:

• Value of the drop-down list instead of the text

  I want a drop-down list that includes complete definitions for the user to watch but when they choose the item they want only the abbreviation indicating on the form. For example, in my items list is said 'Illinois', but when they select "Illinois" she fills the field with the bind value of 'IT '. Is this possible?

  I place a TextField on the top of the drop-down list and setting the rawValue selected the TextField... In the case of exit of the combo I hide list drop-down and display of the textfield object. Similarly, in the event you enter in the text field, I am displaying the drop-down list field and hide the text field.

  This way I can show 'IT' If you choose "Illinois" in the menu dropdown.

  I quiet new to LiveCycle designer ARE for a few weeks I am working on it.

  Right now I have problem with filering XML Datasource with the drop-down list.

  I have XML files which includes data for the States and the city. I have one of my drop-down list associated with the State. My requirement is that I chose the 'State' the corresponding city names must appear in the second drop-down list.

  I searched the net and got two or three samples on it. But I failed to do my job of form as a requirement. Even if I generated the XML file structure given in the examples.

  Please check the attached xml file that I created.

  I have struckup right away. So, help me do this.

  Hello, my name is Zac.  I spent a lot of time trying to figure this one out for myself, but I couldn't find what I needed.  A few threads looked promising, but I realized that they only apply to the LiveCycle.  Many other threads link to discussion 2006 Thom Parker on this subject, but it is very advanced and I feel that what I need is not as complex as the solution he proposes.  I've never used Adobe Acrobat until a few weeks ago, but with the help of Bernd Alheit and George Johnson I managed to create a document with fly-out help windows and scrolling lists and radio buttons which dictate the choice.  It's great and it works.  The last thing I have to do is to create a text box (or some kind of box) which will display a pre-written block of text based on the user choice in another area (a drop-down list box).  Like this:

  

  I wish, it is also easy to create because it draw a picture of him!  If the user selects "Algebra 1", for example, a specific description display below.  There are a lot of courses and descriptions, and the descriptions are long enough (as shown).  It is not necessary for the user to make changes to the description - in fact, which would be terrible.  But I would like to be able to copy text from it and paste the text in another area of text on the same page.

  First time post here - wahoo!  :-)  Brand new user of LiveCycle, and so far I'm loving - very cool app!  I am a bit puzzled, however, and hoping someone can help...

  I am using LiveCycle version 8.05 and try to build a form that has a drop-down list with departments in our Organization.  If the user selects the elements 1-5 on my list, I want two other fields at autopopulated (one for the Admin Assistant) and one for Dept Head.  If however the user selects 'Other', I want a text box (it will be hidden the rest of the time) where the person will be able to type in the Department they work for.  For now, I'm only interested on getting the box 'Other' to appear; I'll worry about the other stuff later.

  Elsewhere in my form, I have a functioning drop-down list that displays a text based on the selection field; However, for some reason this logic does not work with the situation described above.

  After many fruitless hours yesterday, I got only to the extent where the code below; This was more or less copied right out of a post here.  When I click on the drop-down list, select 'Other', the text field is displayed.  I tried the definition of the text field to the times 'Hidden' and 'Visible' through properties of the object, but no luck.  I tried to use IF statements, subforms and anything else I could think of but am getting nowhere.
