  • DTA migration issues

In order to gain visibility for DTA migration issues I've mentioned several times in other threads, I thought I would post a new thread and kick off the coast with two of my favorites:

Events of 'no time' 1) recurring are moved to the previous day.  If you look in the .mdb (Microsoft Access) data tables, created by the new Palm Desktop 6.2.2 you will see that these events are stored in GMT, instead of any time you have set.  If you're at (for example) EST/EDT, then a "free time" event in GMT will begin the day previous (GMT 5/4 hours located prior to the EST/EDT).  Palm Desktop 6.2.2 these events appears correctly (maybe corrected 'on the fly' for a few screws previously known upward in previous versions from the Palm Desktop or Palm devices stored these events), but during the migration to the front via DTA, they appear the previous day.

    (2) recurring events which were to "12 months" (instance, father's day, which is the 3rd Sunday of June, is set up by placing the event initial OK Sunday of June and then by setting the recurrence for "3rd Sunday of each month 12") are changed during migration via DTA the Pre, reproduce every month.

These are both very reproducible and took place during three separate migrations of DTA.  The Calendar database have been verified by the latest version of DbFixIt and found no problem. The Treo 700 p and Palm Desktop 4.1.4 and now 6.2.2 display them correctly.  Only the Pre after migration DTA shows these questions.  The Pre is runnning WebOS 1.0.4 and is configured to only use the Palm profile for the backup.

I'm ready to ask for a SOLUTION to these two questions, with these workaround solutions:

    (1) to prevent the traffic events "without time" days prior (for those of you at the time of the zones West of GMT/UTC) Please make sure that your pre got your time zone local network, or if not, that you set your time zone manually to match that of your host, before migrating to the DTA.

    (2) If you have each year (in fact any interval of more than 9 'days', 'weeks', 'months', or 'years') "byday" (e.g., 3rd Sunday of June) or events (e.g., May 13) "bymonthday", you will need to:

    (a) after the execution of DTA 1.1, and before unplugging the USB before, open a window File Explorer and move the file migration.mig from PRE USB key to your computer.  After that, you can leave the pre connected or not, depending on your needs.  As long as the migration file is not in the USB when the Pre is disconnected, it does not start a data migration.

    (b) using a suitable text editor (for example, Wordpad on Windows), do a find on (for example) "FREQ = MONTHLY; INTERVAL = 1"(without the quotes).  Inspect the field 'SUMMARY' current record "VCALENDAR" to determine if this is really a monthly event or (for example) "byday" or "bymonthday".  If the latter, change the 'INTERVAL = 1' clause' RANGE = 12' (or whatever the actual range is supposed to be.  Repetition of finding suspicious items until you are satisfied you have found and fixed all.

    (c) save the modified file.  Check the file name to ensure that Windows has not renamed it "migration.mig.txt".  If so, rename it to "migration.mig".

    (d) If you had unplugged the meadow at the end of step one), he re - connect as a USB and copy the file "migration.mig" forwards, in the root of the USB stick.  When you do a "safely removing" pre, it will find the migration.mig file and start the migration.  With WebOS 1.1, the pre now entertains you with a progress indicator.  This is actually very useful, because if you connect the Pre to as a USB key before the migration is complete, it will start a 2nd an and start in double filling your calendar, etc.  So be patient and wait until the migration is completed before making any transfer files USB with the Pre.

This procedure should be performed with the DTA 1.1 (or a later version, if later versions don't fix this issue) and WebOS 1.1 (which seems to have solved the calendar gray/frozen screens that had suffered me since the day 1 of pre availability (06/06/09 in the United States).) Please note that this is a problem with the program of the DTA, not WebOS, so it cannot be solved with a future WebOS update (Garbage In, Garbage Out or GIGO as say the).  Please note that I am not synchronized with any service, but use the Palm profile as backup.

Now that I feel I have a pretty good handle on getting a solid migration of DTA, I'll probably then address a Google account instead of the Palm profile synchronization and see what falls from that.

Thank you, PDAGuy and Anachronistic, for all your help.

EDIT: I found a new failure in the timing of the front.  I'll start a new thread, so we can more easily track it separately.

  • Database Migration procedure

A customer wants to migrate their existing SQL Server data base of the remote instance of process Orchestrator local (2.3.4) to a database server.  Is there a procedure documented for this published anywhere?  Is it as simple as the backup and restoration of the TEOProcess and TEOReporting databases and edit manually the connection string in the Tidal.Automation.Server.exe.xml configuration file, or are there additional steps necessary?

Something like that, you should contact TAC to make sure that you have the right measures. I think that you have most of the right markets, but there may be more.

I have some ideas I want to have a clear definition for them.
If possible, please provide me with useful links or definitions and keywords.

    4. how to use PL/SQL to reords in packages tables

Hmm, I guess that's the issue of the objectives of the review "Oracle Database 11g: program PL/SQL ', isn't?
If so, this objective of the review is: "... to use PL/SQL tables * and * records in packages", not "tables * of * records."
This test subject (tables and records) is very wide and there is a lot of documentation related to this, for example here:
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/AppDev.112/e17126/composites.htm#CIHIEBJC

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/AppDev.112/e17126/tuning.htm#BABFHGHI
I have not found any special chapter that covers arrays of records, maybe except this example documentation:

    Hello

I am migrating the database SQL 2012 for vcenter 5.5.  It worked fine, but I can't create jobs of Roll-up on the new SQL Server, because the vCenter database uses the custom schema 'Raphael', cumulative patch-work scripts fail to run because they are written to the default dbo schema.

I don't know how to change them all to work with the custom schema.

  • Migrating from a SQL Express 2005 local database to SQL 2008

I was reading up to the migration of the "shipped" vCetner 4.1 to a database SQL 2008 database external recently and came across these two articles VMWare KB:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1028601

    and

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/documentLinkInt.do?micrositeID= & Popup = true & LanguageID = & externalId = 7960893

The difference I see with these is that you have just to back up the database, import, reinstall vCenter, while the other has you just stop vCenter, migrate the database and re-create the rollup SQL Agent jobs. What article we should be followed? Both? Just the first one will be?

Thanks for any input you can provide!

    -Brian

Since MSSQL 2005 Express does not have the SQL agent, vCenter Server manages the hourly job.

Switch to MSSQL 2008 Edition nonExpress would require for you allows you to deploy the necessary jobs.

So, my suggestion is to use http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1028601 with a small change:

After step 7. (there is a lack 8. you'll have 'implement' :-)) you must deploy the jobs described in http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1029824 (section 1))

  • Data loss Virtual Center Database migration sql 2000 2005

Hi, (sorry for my bad English)

I moved the db installation remote sql 2000 Server remote sql 2005. I basically followed these steps:

To migrate a database from the server vCenter 2.5 of SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005:

    1. stop the vCenter Server service.

    2. stop the vCenter on SQL Server 2000 database.

3 take a backup full database vCenter.

4 copy the backup of the database to SQL Server 2005 host.

    5. create a new database on SQL Server 2005.

    6. restore the backup SQL 2000 vCenter database to the newly created database.

7 correct permissions (same account, same password) see KB6565318

8 native ODBC SQL connection change

    9. perform a change/repair Panel vCenter & gt; Add/Remove programs.

10 in the Repair Wizard, I select custom and choose the newly created in SQL Server 2005 database.

11 the authentication type used on SQL 2005 is the same as that used on SQL 2000.

the license screen has an option box that says "I want to evaluate the product first," Setup does not correctly recognize the previous VirtualCenter database. » ???

Now I can access the BDD via ODBC, and I am able to start the VC service. However, when I opened the client - I SEE NOTHING. Everything is gone. Totally empty. The data is still there well. I can go in sql 2005 and open the tables and see my hosts and virtual machines listed.

    Help, please.

    Thank you!

I think that really there is a permission problem, but I'm not only deeply in SQL servers.

Did you check for orphaned users?

The permissions that are defined for the database of RESUMES?

    Kind regards

  • W2K8 R2 Licensing Issue: passes during the migration of parallel hardware

We have a very old application server run on W2K8 R2 stand-alone (no advertising).  We decide to migrate the server to new hardware.

  • During a planned migration, which method of database migration is the best?  Data Pump or RMAN?

I ask this because I recently had to migrate a database to a new feature of ODA and our application developer head was upset because I used pump data to the database to the new platform and it took a few post import scripts to set permissions to what they were before the move.  He suggests to use RMAN, because it will restore the database to exactly how it was previously without having to restore the permissions.  I would like to know what methods are you using and which one is better?

  • What do I need install Oracle Database 11 g 2 for the Oracle 10 g database migration?

    Hi all

Would you be kind enough to help me with the following question!  I currently have Oracle Database 10 g on the old servers to my work and I want to install the GR 11, 2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Oracle database to new servers for upgrade.  I also forms, reports and Designer 10 g to maintain our existing applications.  So, I already looked in the Certification and found the following:

Latest version of the product: latest version of the database server window weblogic

    Form Builder 11.1.2.0.0 11.2.0.4.0 7, 2008 R2, 2008 10.3.6.0.0

    Reports           11.1.2.0.0                                           11.2.0.4.0                                                 7, 2008 R2, 2008                                   10.3.6.0.0

    Designer 10.1.2.6.0 11.2.0.1.0 xp, vista, 7, 2003 (all 32 bit)

For Designer, it is approved for a 32 - bit window, so I'm having trouble with the new requirement of system this window must be after 2003.  I want to take all of the availability and follow the Oracle certification (except that I will be given Designer because of compliance) as above.  I'm new with Oracle, and I don't know what comes with what to do it is complete.

    1. I'm going to install a database server (free 11.2.0.4.0 as described above) in a new server (2008 R2), then what I have to install the WebLogic Server with it?

    2. I'll install the generator of reports and Forms Builder (11.1.2.0.0) in another server (2008R2), so what I have to install WebLogic Server as well with her?

    3. what else do I need to install on this two server so that they work so that I can begin to migrate all existing data, forms and States more?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Remember that this forum is targeted to the Oracle Forms product, for questions about the database can be better answered in one of the areas of database.  That being said, here are my comments:

1 I'll install a database server (version 11.2.0.4.0 as described above) in a new server (2008 R2), then what I have to install the WebLogic Server with it?

A database facility didn't need of WLS (which I am aware). Consider what you want is a typical design at three levels. Database - average level (applications server) - Client (tools and end user).   Each level has nothing to do with the other installation point of view assuming that they are not installed on the same computer. WLS is a middleware software (medium level). Be sure to check the product documentation before performing any installation. The 11.2 DB docs can be found here:

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/index.htm

    2. I will install Forms Builder and Report Builder (11.1.2.0.0) in another server (2008R2), so what I have to install WebLogic Server as well with it?

Tools (Forms Builder, generator of reports, etc.) are not remote or web tools.  These must be installed on each developer's computer.  The installation of these tools does not require that WLS be installed first (on the developer's computer), but there is no need to be run unless the developer wants to apply locally for testing.  For a production deployment (multi-user), a similar concept will be used.  WLS will be installed first, followed by the forms and reports Services (runtime).  It will be on your remote server (medium level).  Software distribution you use will be exactly the same for the developer and the installation of intermediate level.  The difference will be in the options you choose during installation.  If you want to include manufacturers during installation, simply check the appropriate boxes when you are prompted.

Also, if you plan to use the forms/States 11 GR 2, I recommend not using 11.1.2.0 and instead use 11.1.2.2, which is the latest version. F/R 11.1.2.2 installation requires that you first install WLS 10.3.6.  You should refer to the product documentation before beginning any installation. Specifically, carefully examine the product Setup Guide and Guide to the system requirements. The 11.1.2.2 doc library can be found here:

3 what else do I need to install on this two server so that they work so that I can begin to migrate all the existing data, forms and States on?

Looks like you've covered everything.  The granular details will be covered in the Installation and Guides to the system requirements.

    My recommendations:

o ensure that each machine has at least 4gig of RAM

o ensure that each machine has a static IP address before you start any part of the installation.  This can be done without a static IP address, but you must take additional steps (see Guide to Sys Req).

o on machines where you plan to install WLS, make sure you have a 64 bit JDK installed first.  If you don't use a F/R 11.1.2.2, you must use Java 6.  However, if you decide to use 11.1.2.2, you can use Java 6 or 7.  Do not use Java 8 in all cases.

When it comes to the designer, it must be installed on an old machine.  In General, I do not recommend to use it longer.  Although there is currently not a way to full migration out of it, you can use SQL Developer to manage the db objects that were created/used with it.  There are several MyOracleSupport documents that discuss the issue.  You can search the Knowledge Base of MOS to find or contact Support for more information.
