Edit 'videos' in iMovie on iOS

Hi, just trying to do something as simple as editing a video in iMovie on iOS, the video source has been imported through iTunes which is a video made using photos on my Mac which is then exported to a video format in 1080 p. Open the videos on the iPad app and it is classified under 'videos' parts very well. However try to modify the said video in iMovie, it can't import and don't even see.  I guess simply put my question should be how the hell import a video into my iOS device I can then edit in iMovie for iOS.

Copy the finished film in your app Photos - or - save on iCloud drive - or - he dumped from your Mac to your iPad. You should then be able to access in the media browser in iMovie iOS (as long as they are in a compatible format).

  • Looking to edit video with iMovie more

I have a MacBook Pro with El Capitan, and I'm looking for video editing software which is not too powerful for me. I tried Adobe Premiere, but that seemed as if it was much too expensive for what I wanted to do. iMovie, on the other hand, seems like he doesn't do everything I want. I hope I can get some recommendations on where to go from here.

Basically, I need to be able to:

    • make picture-in-picture
    • have a transparent overlay image
    • be able to create basic titles
    • being able to export on YouTube (easy best)

It seems that iMovie can't quite manage this, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. I would like to know if there is any other information that you need me for a suggestion. Thank you!

iMovie has each of these features. Make your transparent image as a png with transparent background overlay. When you say 'create' base titles, do you mean beyond the titles contained in the Gallery of titles? Export to YouTube is a simple click, once you set up YouTube with your credentials.

  • iMovie for iOS iphone 6 iMovie 'some of the videos in this project must be uploaded to the cloud '.

Help!  I love editing videos on my iPhone 6, but suddenly when I try to edit a film in the folder "projects" on my phone, I get an error message everytime that says "some of the videos in this project must be uploaded to the cloud."  Fine.  Very good-not much, I received this message before.  But it's almost every element in the montage, and worse yet... they never end downloaded, so I can't access it.  I'm not talking that they download even when I leave it alone overnight.

I've looked everywhere I can think of is somehow cloud-ish (?) nothing works.  I do not know where are these clips and why this is happening now, when he has never before.  At this point I didn't even care - I want to just download the clips and store them on my phone instead of the cloud, so I can end this very sensitive time in video editing.

I appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you!  -Mary B.

    Good afternoon, Marie-

Thanks for your question.  Looks like you have videos that are not stored on your iPhone that you want to edit with iMovie for iOS.  You have iCloud library enabled with the option "optimize"?  If so, the videos are stored in iCloud instead of on your device to save space.

    iCloud photo library

iCloud photo library automatically keep each photo and video you take in iCloud, so you can access your library from any device, anytime you want. And any changes made to your collection on a single device, change on other devices.

iCloud library keeps all your photos and videos in their version original high resolution. You can save space on your device when you turn on the storage optimize.

On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch:

    1. Go into settings.
    2. Tap on iCloud > Photos.
    3. Choose [device] Optimize storage.

The resources below will explain how to download video clips so that you can edit them.

iMovie for iOS (iPhone, iPod touch): the transfer of media to your iOS device

Video browser only displays video clips shot in iMovie or in your library. The tasks below describe the different modes of transfer of the media in the library of pictures from your camera so that the media appears in the video browser.

    Use iCloud photo library

You can use iCloud photo library to transfer items between iOS devices. For example, if you take a photo on your iPhone, the picture automatically appears in your iCloud photo library and is available for you to use in your iMovie project on your iPad.

Important: iCloud library requires an account iCloud and iOS 8.3 or later. When iCloud library is enabled, you cannot transfer your photos or video clips using iTunes.

    1. On each device, go to settings > iCloud to make sure you are signed in with the same account iCloud.

    2. In iCloud settings on each device, press Photos, and then click switch to iCloud photo library.

    3. Open iMovie for iOS, then Open a project for editing.

Video clips or photos in your photo library from iCloud, but not on your device are displayed in the video library of browser and media with an icon of clouds . Pressing the video clip or picture it downloads in the library of photos on your device.

For more information, see Add video clips and photos in the photo library.

    Have a great day!

  • IMovie 10 can be used to edit videos of 2 hours?

I live in a community band events for others to view later. Until now, the volunteer writers have used iMovie 6, because this version, say, is the most recent who can edit videos of 2 hours.

I would switch to iMovie 10, which is what I have on my new iMac.

Someone got experience with iMovie allows you to change this kind of long videos of 10? Any tips?

I would just try, but I have to learn iMovie first, never having used it before, and I won't unless she goes to work where I need!

    Thank you.

    iMac El Capitan

    iMovie 10.1.1

There is no limit to the duration of a video project in iMovie 10.  You just ned to have sufficient memory on your computer.  It may be wise to break up a long project in shorter projects easier to manage, which can be joined together when the editing is complete.

A big differencein iMovie 10 from previous versions is that you can't remove pieces of imported video clips - you can of course use the parts in a project, but the iMovie library still contains the complete imported clips.  If this will give problems of space you trim away the unwanted images for example using Quicktime player before its import in iMovie.

    Geoff,

  • Color grading is possible in iMovie for iOS?

I looked around, but can't seem to find any color basic ranking of options in iMovie for iOS.  I expect something similar on the photo settings menu, where you can change the brightness, contrast, Saturation, etc..  All I see are filters, which seems to assume the video that I am importing already has a perfect color.  I would prefer not to have to buy a third-party app part just to adjust the levels in my videos.

Color grading is possible in iMovie for iOS?

    Sorry, but no.

iMovie is designed as a basic video editing application and does not have the functionality that is built into most professional applications.

  • Unable to save a video in iMovie

    Hello.

I made a video on iMovie and I want to record on film.

I tried to put in 540 p and 720 p but nothing has worked, it is underway and almost at the end instead of 'copy the movie to the video library' I see a pop up message that says "an error occurred during export. Is it possible to fix it?

P.S. I'm using iPhone, the video is 11 minutes and I have 9 GB of free space.

Hi, I have the same problem on iphone 6 s 64GB. I get the error, as shown in the picture

the project has been started with ios version 9.3.3 the arrival of the problem (maybe) after update to ios 9.3.4

This general error message there make me creazy, I tried to reduce the export all shape resolution 4 k to 360 p, released more space on my device, now I have 18 GB free... still the same error.

  • Importing video into Imovie Photos

    Hey,.

Since IPhoto has been replaced by pictures I can't understand how to import the video I took on my phone in uploaded photos.

    I use IMovie 10.1.2 and ElCapitan 10.11.5.

IMovie opens well and all the media I had in the past is there and usable. I can't drag Photos videos in IMovie and when I try to import in this I can't open pictures and see new videos.

I promised my girls coach I would burn the video on DVD from our last game of gold medal to show our team party end year tomorrow. '

    I'm desperate! Can anyone help?

I'd still be for in your debt!

I can see the videos in my library of Photos in iMovie, like this while watching a project:

    • Select the photo library in the sidebar with the libraries.  Wait.
    • Set the switch on 'Albums' and select one of my albums, that contains only videos:

This will allow me to drag video clips in the timeline.

Is your library of Photos stored locally or a library iCloud?  If the videos are only in iCloud, select the videos you want to use in iMovie and use "file > export > export original...". "to export your videos in a folder on the desktop.  Then add them in here to your iMovie project.

Drag / drop photos won't work, because by dragging will export just a preview of the edited version.  It reduces the quality of your videos.

Added: The menu on the left of the search box should be set to 'All' or 'Video', no pictures. Toggle it to "videos", to ensure that it is excluding videos.

And if your photo library does not at all appear in iMovie, look at the Photos > Preferences > General.  The option 'Use as system library' must be gray, to indicate that it is your library of photos of current system and other applications can access.

If you need to change this option, leave pictures and leaving iMovie after you activated.

  • Passage to the SSD for late 2008 MacBook for editing video: Samsung 850EVO or Pro?

    Hello

There are a lot of things out there on the upgrade the bowels of SSD and I narrowed my choice to Samsung 850 Evo or Pro, but there are some details that I found not covered elsewhere. The idea is to give to my MacBook Pro a few years in addition to be able to edit HD video (currently, it slows to a halt). I'm also upgrading to 8 GB of RAM.

My questions are: both the EVO 850 and 850 Pro actually work in my model, old as it is?

I would notice the difference between the two while editing video, taking into account the difference and compatibility issues/limitations of price? (Limits of SATA would effectively slow the levels of the EVO Pro?)

If/when I get ahead, it is advisable to keep my entire modification on a with the main files external HARD drive, or should I keep makes it / cache on the SSD drive?

    Here are my specs:

MacBook Pro (15 inch, late 2008)

2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor

    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory

    Macintosh HD boot disk

NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M 256 MB graphics card

Running OS X El Capitan 10.11.5.

Please keep in mind, I am a techno-idiot and 90% of the above words I learned again in the last two days!

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Graeme.

    Yes.

Probably not.  You willing MBP of SATA2 connectivity and the full potential of each SSD not happen.

It's your choice.  If the capacity of SSDS is quite large, personally, I like to keep all data on a single disc, but maybe it's not convenient.

    Ciao.

  • is it possible to organize videos Theater iMovie

Videos in iMovie theater can be organized into groups, for example, the way apps on iPhone may come across other applications and it allows you to appoint a group to hold these applications?  Or maybe in some other way other than just in newest to oldest?

You can group the videos in folders in the Finder, but even I know there is no way to do within the iMovie app.  I'm sure someone on this forum will correct me if I'm wrong.
