EMC CX4 and ESXi 5.1 table updated 1 compatibility?

Hi people,

Can you please share what it takes to make sure you can run the VM without any problems or downtime when you use the EMC CX4 array?

my table has been updated at the last TORCH as per screenshot below:FLARE30.JPG

But anyway, VMware HCL and the KB site VMware KB: EMC CX and Firmware VNX and necessary ESX for the vStorage API for integration (VAAI) table support talking about something different and confused as per screenshot below:

CX4-240f.JPG

Any kind of advice and suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Al

In my view, that he won't be problem in the environment. If it is not compatible does not mean that it won't work but simply means its not supported. You could talk to VMware guy once lifting a SR or something. And sorting to be on the safer side. These are things that you can't take risks with because that its your storage array that we are talking about.

  • Dell M620 (VRTX) blade - ESXi 5.1.0 Update 1 installation upgrade to ESXi 5.1.0 Update 3 (latest)

    This morning I did an installation of upgrade to ESXi 5.1.0 Update 1 to ESXi 5.1.0 Update 3 (latest Version) on one of the blades of my VRTX M620 three 3.  I have the same problem that I met about a year, when I tried to update 1-2 update.  I had to go down to 1 update to see the data store.

    With update 3, the data store does not appear on this blade.  I did a scan to see if the data store is present, but he did not.  Also, I restarted the blade which did not help.

    I have to keep upgrading to 3 update due to the necessary correction of problem CBT.

    How to troubleshoot and resolve this problem of my data store does not?

    Note: I have very little experience with virtualization.  I just found today on how to access the interface from the CLI of blades.

    Thanks in advance.

    SOLVED.

    The original sas megaraid drivers (even installed on the blades of M620 Dell) had to be installed.  It is my understanding that several versions of the megaraid sas driver provided on the Dell ESXi ISO are meant to satisfy the VMware HCL for this material.  However, the more recent does not show the data store.

  • How to disable the index to the rows of the table updated

    Hello world

    I have a problem on a table with Oracle11g.

    I would update a table a lines opposite two in a table. This table has an index, and during the inversion, the index is duplicated.

    So, I turn off the index and then rebuild all indexes like this: How to disable the index in oracle

    However, I can't update a table when my index finger is rolled unusable.

    I create my table:

    CREATE  TABLE MY_TABLE(
      ID                         NUMBER(5) NOT NULL,
      TYPE                        NUMBER(1) NOT NULL,
      PRIO                       NUMBER(4) NOT NULL,
      CONSTRAINT PK_MY_TABLE
        PRIMARY KEY (ID, TYPE )
    );

    CREATE INDEX  PRIO_UK
        ON MY_TABLE(TYPE, PRIO);

    Then I selected all the elements and the results is:

    ID Type Prio
    1110
    2111

    Then, I tried to update this list with this script:

    UPDATE MY_TABLE set PRIO = 11 WHERE ID = 1 AND TYPE = 1;
    UPDATE MY_TABLE set PRIO = 10 WHERE ID = 2 AND TYPE = 1;

    I have an error on the first line, because the subscript for type 1 and 11 priority already exist.

    You have another solution to solve my problem?

    I thank you very much.

    Do not disable your index. Just perform your update with a single blow. Like this

    SQL> select *
      2    from my_table;

            ID       TYPE       PRIO
    ---------- ---------- ----------
             1          1         10
             2          1         11

    SQL> update my_table
      2     set prio = case when id = 1 and type = 1 then 11
      3                     when id = 2 and type = 1 then 10
      4                end
      5   where (id = 1 and type = 1)
      6      or (id = 2 and type = 1);

    2 rows updated.

    SQL> select *
      2    from my_table;

            ID       TYPE       PRIO
    ---------- ---------- ----------
             1          1         11
             2          1         10

    1.No. multiple tag will vary how to extract those and concatenate them into a single column. I assumed that his occrrence in 3 for example:

    Use the fn:string-join() function:

    path varchar2 (4000) of comments 'string-join(comments/comment, "-").

    2. how to set the value NULL if no tag is not present. Tag in XML record number can vary.

    You don't have anything specific to do in this case.

    Missing tags with a projection in the COLUMNS clause will produce a column NULL by default.

  • mutation in the triggers table problem (need to COUNT (col) and MAX (col) of table shot)

    I was looking for the solution and find many examples, but I do not know what is the best in my option and don't understand everything.

    I realized that can't do a SELECT query in the table where trigger is triggered. But I have need SELECT COUNT (col), then MAX (id) of this table, update some statistical info...
    And also need to row id update, so I can't do trigger of table instead of relaxation of the line.

    So this is my TRIGGER:

    create or replace

    update_stat relaxation

    AFTER UPDATE ON TABLE1 TO EACH LINE

    DECLARE

    juice FLOAT;

    all the NUMBER;

    end NUMBER;

    BEGIN

    IF (: old.ended <>: new.ended) THEN

    SELECT COUNT (id) FROM end FROM table1 WHERE fk_table2 = new.fk_table2 AND finished = 1;  -Error in the table of mutation

    SELECT COUNT (id) FROM everything FROM table1 WHERE fk_table2 = new.fk_table2; -Error in the table of mutation

    Juice: = ((end /all) * 100);

    UPDATE table2 SET suc = success WHERE id =:new.fk_table2;

    END IF;

    END;

    I also tried with

    pragma autonomous_transaction;

    trigger body....AND

    commit;

    But don't working right when insert more records.

    Thanks, Urban

  • HP ESXi 5.0 to update update 1

    Hello

    I am not entirely new to ESXi, I installed 3.5 and 4, but never an update.

    Our servers are installed with HP Image custom/iso "5.0_Oct_2011_ESXi_HD_USB_SDImgeInstlr_Z7550_00253".

    Now I would like to update the servers to 5.0 Update 1 without having to reinstall them.

    I found the iso-U1, but I think it is is not update... shouldn't it be a zip file or have I misunderstood something?

    If anyone can help find the right way to update U1 servers, including CIM/NMI suppliers/drivers?

    Thanks for the help!

    Simon

    You can upgrade using the ISO HP, present on your server when you are prompted to perform an upgrade rather than a facility.

    Iso HP includes CIM providers and drivers.

    Although I always perform a clean installation rather than an upgrade, if you have company liked, you can use a host profile to save the current configuration and reapply after the new installation.

    You reset the content of the table $Results on each iteration of the baseline.

    Try like this

    $Results = @()

    It will give the installed and lack of patches which are defined in the non-compliant baslines related to the ESXi host.

    I use VUM and attached to a base called "Critical fixes to host" line to my esxi host (I have only one 441354 5.0.0).

    But when I do a scan I respect 'Missing' in the two plots

    You will need to add another host in the cluster or V2P your instance of vCenter to a physical host.

  • DRS cluster: You can mix 4.1 ESX and ESXi 4.1?

    Not very complext, but we have a DRS cluster of 8 hosts x 3850 of IBM on ESX 4.1 and we will upgrade them both to ESXi 4.1 update 1.  There will be questions mixing a cluster of ESX and ESXi servers?

    Yes, 100% supported!  both are the same hypervisor, so you should have no problem running in the same cluster.  After all it is the best way to do a upgrade spread, and how we made our move between ESX and ESXi.

  • Virtual computers slot between 4 of ESX and ESXi 3.5?

    Hi, we are in the process of updating our ESXi 3.5 servers to ESX 4. We take off all virtual machines 1 ESXi 3.5 upgrade to ESX 4.0, then bring back the virtual machines. The question is, where the new ESX 4.0 is down and we are obliged to return these VMs ESXi 3.5, will update these VMs to hardware worm 7 means that they can no longer be able to run on ESXi 3.5?

    What about the VMtools? When we upgrade to version 4.0, any question their execution back on ESXi 3.5?

    Thank you.

    Hong Boon.

    VMware Tools are not a problem.

    You can run the latest version of them as old VM or VM on old ESX.

    The big problem, as written above, is hardware virtual: ESX 4 can run two VMS in format v4 and v7, but ESX 3.x can only run VM in v4 format.

    So wait to upgrade the virtual hardware and upgrade only tools VMware, if you want to return to ESX 3.x

  • Installation server ESXi 4.0 to ESXi Server 4.0 Update 1

    "Upgrade package of ESXi Server 4.0 to ESXi Server 4.0 Update 1.

    Using the download listed above:

    What is the best practice for the installation/upgrade to update 1?  Is this possible via the host update utility 4.0?  And if so, how should we do about this process?

    Thanks in advance, TAndrist

    You should not manually download any file at all.  The host update utility does all that for you.

    Open the utility, add the host ESX (note a hack to run on Win7 before publication U1).

    Click on file, download patches for vmware.

    Then click on "Scan for Patches" and enter credentials for the host to ESX

    Once who did button changes to 'host patch', click on it, then install.

    Make sure that all virtual machines are stopped everything first.

    Please give points for any helpful answer.

  • Local concept of method hotadd VM Backup using VCB v1.5u1 and ESXi 4 datastre

    Hi all

    I would like to get clarification using ESXi VCB v1.5 Update 1

    Backup VM with method -hotadd in vSphere 4 (all servers are ESXi 4)

    The objectives is to make the backup of virtual machine faster since most of the

    VM is in MD3000i_SAN VMFS and between the ESXi host is a direct connection

    both ESXi1 and ESXi2

    The setting is as follows:

    1. Windows Server 2003 x 64 Standard VM +.
      VCB framework deployed on the ESXi1 and the local Datastore SATA ESXi2, namely VCBProxy01and VCBProxy02 all had only 40 GB HD size

    2. VM empty created on the two ESXi1
      and ESXi2: VCBProxy01(VCB-HELPER) and VCBProxy02(VCB-HELPER).
      All this without hard drive

    Organizational chart: http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/7607/esxir.jpg

    The command I have published:

    * vcbmounter h

    virtualcenterHOST u Administrator Pei AdminPASSWORD - an ipaddr:server1.domain.com

    Server2.domain.com server3.domain.com - r D:\OUTPUTDIR t fullvm - L 6 - m hotadd *.

    but then I got the error:

    Error: the extra arguments unexpected encounter.

    VMware Consolidated Backup - Virtual Machine set up Utility Version 1.5.0.4948 (build 150805)

    No idea how to do several VM (online and offline) hotadd method through command line please?

    Kind regards

    AWT

    Hello

    You can not pass several VM arguments in a single command. It must be only 1 VM. In your case, by looking at the settings, I guess that you pass the name of the virtual machine and no ip address. If you give - an ipaddr to be ip address of the target VM to back up. Else to move the VM name, it must be - a name: vm - name.

    Still, you can't spend several VM in a single order VCBMounter names. To run the backup for several virtual machines you should run several instances of the command line with the corresponding target VMs name / ip address. I hope this helps.

    Thank you

  • Change in the merger of insert and create a procedure for updating the records after

    Hello

    I have a table that contains about 50 M lines of partition, and every day I have an application that performs a merge to insert records statement about 100 k per day and it's 300 M updates a day.

    Because I both update and insert the application performs a merge.
    I need to make at least 500 M, updated day by day, and for this reason this solution doesn't have enough performance for what I'm asking.

    I think another solution that I will try to implement now, and I just posted this in an attempt to get help on the option that I may have to do.

    I want to start putting in place:
    -Locations is updated 'last_record_date' using 'KEY1' and 'Key2' "KEY3";
    -Change the application to only inserts into a temporary table.
    -Have two procedures, one that takes the new records from the temporary table and inserts it into the final table, and another that selects records which is updated and perform an update.
    -This two procedures will choose the records and delete them from the temporary table (or mark them as updated\inserted).

    The volume is very large, so performance is a challenge! That's why I'm writing this, because a solution with enough performance for the intermediate stage will be difficult.
    My final table is partitioned by date and the date is the area that I need to update (instead of create daily partitions in order to reduce the frequency of the movement of the line, I create monthly partitions)!
    It is currently my table definition:

    Hello

    My version is:
    Oracle Database 11 g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64 bit Production

    It's the DOF I used to create the database.

    The merger is common during every day for about 10 M records.

    There are several methods to do the update, but they do sequencially to avoid deadlocks (because I can't control the source and each process can update the same keys.

    The update uses "KEY1, KEY2, KEY3" to update the value 'LAST_RECORD_DATE' have impact by being date or varchar2?

    I'm still waiting to receive permissions in order to follow up the matter, but in the meantime, in that I am trying to implement this work around in order to accelerate a development in the case where it would be necessary! Comments only I have at the moment, it is that he is not able to process the total amount of records timely (order book is generated).

    Thank you
    Ricardo

    Well, the first thing we do is to change the type of data type varchar to a date. The main impact is that a date is not a string, it's a date. If you are adding data processes in different date formats (which is possible when you use a character to store information) you're going to be very sad (good luck converting back an effective date).

    An example of how this can happen easily.

    ME_TUBBZ?select to_char(sysdate) from dual;

    TO_CHAR(SYSDATE)
    -----------------------------
    12-jan-2012 10 55:33

    1 row selected.

    Elapsed: 00:00:00.01
    ME_TUBBZ?alter session set nls_date_format = 'yyyy-mon-dd';

    Session altered.

    Elapsed: 00:00:00.01
    ME_TUBBZ?select to_char(sysdate) from dual;

    TO_CHAR(SYSDATE)
    --------------------
    2012-jan-12

    1 row selected.

    Elapsed: 00:00:00.00

    Assuming that the client passes the column as an Oracle DATE will make an (implicit) conversion to store the data as a string, which will be based on the current settings of the NLS for the session. This allows also for someone to completely non-jour the information in the column (super bad). It's just really bad form to use strings to store dates, numbers, anything that is not naturally a string.

    Based on the description of your problem, I can't imagine how your partitioning scheme performs one action in another that require more work in order to process the updates (which are most of your needs). Partitioning does not equate to increase performance. It is a tool that, like every tool has its place, but I do not think that this is justified for what you do (certainly not how you currently use it anyway).

    I say no partitioning can not be useful for you, but I don't think that on the column that you are currently using is 'good '.

    Something I would like to personally study (must be able to compare this approach to your course, if you need parameters for comparison) if I were you would be using a Table Index organized for it. It will take more time to perform the operations insertion, but that is a small part of all the work that you do for this process. For updates, it should eliminate a lot of IO, assuming that you are doing an INDEX seek followed by a table access by ROWID to perform updates. This recommendation assumes that everything you said is true. You have 4 columns in your table, of which 3 are components of the primary key and the 4th is a date (note I did not string :)) and that you refresh mainly, not fit.) Also that you have no 'secondary' on this entity index (and none are needed).

    I would investigate this approach before the solution of temporary table that you are currently studying.

    See you soon,.

    Hello
    First comment
    The way you update is correct from a results point of view, it's one of the incorrect point of view performance.

    The sample code given, in my view, it can be done in a single SQL statement each ratehr than to do it in a loop.

    Come to the error you get
    Can you DESC the tables, and then it could be very obvious why you get this error message.
