  • Definition of ADE as default epub reader?

How can I configure ADE as player default epub on export on mac ID CS6? EPub files currently open iBooks automatically.

Thanks in advance for your time.

In InDesign, you can set your EPUB reader. In CS6, you can't.

However, you can set the default EPUB reader in Mac OS X. In the Mac Finder, select an EPUB file, and then choose file > Info. In the section open with Control Panel, choose Adobe Digital Editions. Click the button change to set it as the default application.

  • Can't make ADE 2.0 my default epub reader

When I installed ADE 2.0 I ticked the box to make it my default epub reader, but it did not.  The old epub reader I used was still listed in the Panel by default, and when I try to manually change the default value for ADE, Windows can't find it.  Even when I choose Browse and click to access ADE 2.0 and tell him to open in the player by default, nothing happens - Windows does not recognize it as a drive.  I even tried to uninstall my old epub reader, and then the epub files will not open at all because WIndows (7 incidentally) is not find ADE epub reader optional.  I had no such problem with 1.7.  Any ideas (or even a way back to 1.7 if possible)?

    Thank you!

You can install v2.0 and v1.7.2 simultaneously if you wish.

This occasional inability of Windows to associate file types with ADE is a more particular and irritating Windows bug.

You could try a third-party app like Types http://izt.name/apps/types/ and see if that helps.

Not so convenient, but useful for emergency cases: you can always open files .epub from ADE with ctrl-O and .acsm file by drag drop from Explorer to ADE.

There are a lot of bugs in ADE2.0.  Try to replace ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.

Version 1.7.2, is a little hard to find, available on the website of Adobe for Windows and for Mac.

  • What ePub reader to use all of the iBooks issue?

I have the same problem as many other readers, iBooks will not sync between devices and does not download iClouds books. So, I need another drive ePub iBooks in the meantime be repaired.

So what I want is a player ePub that synchronize between devices. Any suggestions? Pros? Idiots?

  • EPUB reader for iBook G3 (Dual USB)?

Has taken my old iBook G3 Dual USB (with Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger) of the closet; works perfectly (but oh, so slow!). I would use it as a reader; no problem for the PDF, but I need a software to read the epub. Any idea what I could use? Caliber, I have on my other computers, doesn't seem to be old enough to work on the iBook.

I just shot to the top of my PB Pismo Tiger because I remembered have Calibre on opening "reluctantly" it...

To read the information, there was no 'number' - only a text of presentation on the web looking for something (?)

I'm always careful and WHERE I download from. This link is the Web site - http://calibre-ebook.com/download_osx

    Note

    1. If you are using OS X more than 10.8 (Mountain Lion), the latest version of calibre who works on your machine is 1.48, available here. < this link is the DMG to install
    2. The application cannot be executed from within the dmg. You must drag it to a folder on your file (The Desktop, Applications, wherever) system.

  • Failed to read the docs epub, cannot install the epub reader (not compatible with Firefox 8.0.1)?

I downloaded a Smashwords.com manuscript to EPUB. This is my manuscript, and I must be able to read in this format. However, it is incomprehensible. I tried to install the epub 1.4.1.0 drive, but got the message that it is not compatible with Firefox 8.0.1. I also tried to install digital Adobe and Adobe 7.0, but Firefox is not letting me. I need to be able to read this epub document! Thank you.

Please install this Add-on . This should dispel the compatibility issues.

  • Supported EPUB reader for mobile that supports DHTML (hotspots expanding)?

    Hello!

I used the HR 10 epub output to generate an epub to our online help, but I was not able to find an ereader for mobile application that supports hotspots (DHTML) expanding what we have throughout our thousands of help topics.

Calibre works very well for this purpose, but is only available for PC and Mac. I'd like to be able to source unique several of our client-facing documents (release notes, tutorials, etc.) of our online help since it already contains each procedure of our operating system, but I would like for the customers to be able to see and use these ebooks on their mobile devices. CHM readers also work great, but are not suitable for mobile applications because they are not redistributable.

Anyone know of any application or browser based which can support hotspots in expansion? Thank you!

You say you want users to be able to see your KB on mobile devices. Hence, I assume you mean of tablets and smartphones. If so, you could better use a HTML5 output.

Don't you think that people there will access your KB by using an eBook reader?

  • I try to use epub reader add to firefox

It is wrong version I'm on Tablet nexus7

Extensions for Firefox Desktop don't work on Firefox for Android, unless the author of the extension was specially modified to run on Android.

  • Since Firefox updated, it won't open my EPUB files more. What's wrong?

Whenever I click on my digital books in the .epub format, I get a dialog box asking me what program I want to use to open the file, or if I want to save. When I have Firefox to open the file, Firefox is to open another tab with another dialogue box and the process simply repeats and repeats and repeats. Firefox gets the EPUB reader?

There is an add on that could help with this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/fire.../epubreader/

  • I try to open a book that is an extension of the EPUB. Firefox does not open it. What I am doing wrong?

My sister-in-law gave me more than 600 books and install on my laptop. The files have the extension of the EPUB. I downloaded Firefox to open the EPUBfiles but its not working. Can you please provide some suggestions.

You need an EPUB Reader addon:

  • I installed beta 2, and it froze on the epub add on. I uninstalled is installed again the same thing. uninstalled then installed 1.1 epub removed then uninstalled and reinstalled beta 2. everything freezes on the 1st page. I can COMPLETELY remove to reins

I installed beta 2 of FF4 and initially it worked fine. Then I went to add ons and it froze in fullscreen with epub. I have the screen shot so its all good. It sfull screen and symbol RSS feed at the top left of the screen then below Whats new - epub reader Version 1.3.0.3 then below which its says of bug fixes in some cases FF4 crashed when an ebook with epub reader has been loaded and tabs where switched.
Anyway, I uninstalled the beta version 4 then installed 1.1 and removed the epub reader. Then reinstalled FF4 B2 but it hangs right on the opening.
For short holder, I used 2 Beta it seemed wise great speed over previous versions.
I think if I had to be able to been completely remove firefox and do a claen install it can work.

Looks like you are using Firefox for Maemo (Nokia N900).

If you want a completely clean install, you can get rid of your old profile by typing this command in the X Terminal app before launching Firefox:

    .Mozilla CD; MV fennec.bak fennec

(Who will move your profile in a backup location, so a new will be created. This will hide your bookmarks, history, cookies and Add-ons, but you can restore the old backup profile if you wish.)

  • How can I convert PDF files to text EPUB?

I want to files ePub simple, legible, without excess of formatting and especially bad formatting such as erratic font size changes, additional line breaks, etc. I want to be able to sideload these of my ebook reader and check these without eye strain.

I can copy the text from the pdf document and if necessary filter in Textedit, although I have rsi and want to avoid too many extra steps.

iBooks author is supposed to be for multitouch. I am disabled and cannot use the multitouch. I installed it anyway, but it is heavy on the custom formatting, when I don't want any layout format further, just plain text, paragraph breaks, chapter breaks and a functional table of contents.

I do not use iBooks himself, because I had trouble with this passage from the titles, etc. from one file to another, making it more difficult to find the right file of the wrong title.

Have you done a google search on "convert pdf to epub?  Have you tried all the solutions mentioned?

Because the PDF is not really intended to be transformed into something else, the results of these processes are often poor.  What is the purpose of your doing this - to allow you to change the police and the font size?  Calibre is a common conversion application.  See

  • Wrong colors when the EPUB export

I have a book that I want to export to EPUB format. When I export to PDF format, the colors are good. When I export to EPUB, the colors are washed out, as CMYK. The color profile of the document is Adobe RGB 1998. All photos are RGB. I checked around to see if there is a setting that's not going to, but I can't find something that's not going to. Not sure that understand the difference of output export?

    1. For any web application (and it includes EPUB) use sRGB.
    2. Don't expect accurate colors, as none of the EPUB reader app supports color management.
  • Fixed provision ePub - please help me embed videos and/or use overlay Folio with web content

    Hello

I have a file In Design to create a printed book (11 "x 11") and decided to use CC 2014 to create a layout fixed ePub 3 for a digital version.  I converted the book on minor issues of having to change the font and it is very beautiful.

I want to add videos at the end of the book to take advantage of the flexibility of the digital format.  I create a slideshow of my photos year-end and host them on Vimeo.

    I tried the following:

Using the standard Vimeo include the code in an HTML element

The use of the old flash Vimeo embed code and conversion to HTML - worked great on iBooks on Mac but not on iPhone/iPad as based on flash

Accommodation and a link to the videos on my own web server and using the media - link to video mp4 file

Accommodation and a link to the videos on my old server of smugmug.com photo

I can integrate real videos, but to their smaller size, they increase the file size of the ePub to 78 MB, 400 MB...

I thought then that I would use an Overlay Folio - Web Content.

The idea is to use this blank page on my site that would look for all purposes useful to another white page in the book - 2012 slideshow - Oren photography

The overlay works in preview but not Folio when exporting as an ePub

Is this a limitation of the ePub format?

Any help/advice/suggestions on fixing this are greatly appreciated.

    E

The format of Vimeo is not supported when you place in InDesign.

Overlays using Folio is a feature of the DPS, which is not supported in EPUB files.

With the help of streaming video is not a good idea because it presupposes that the EPUB reader is connected to the Internet. Most people expect an EPUB content will be autonomous.

I would like to used embedded in MP4 format videos, but use Adobe Media Encoder to Downsample to reduce their file size.

A slideshow of images should be no problem, and you can create them with the Group of objects. You can create buttons to control the slide show display.
