On repeated attempts to use Windows Update, I turned off Ad-aware (including using the task to end residue Manager), then partially using a custom scan started manually scan stops and error message appears. I tried to use the difficulty It Center and other suggestions with no suscess.

When you look at the history of my update - last successful was KB2698023 on December 3, 2012.
I tried Microsoft Fixit etc & different connections in order to ensure that it is not a firewall issue.
Have Norton 360 & performed several scans & malware detectors to see what I can find & no dice.

I am running XP; Security ESET says critical updates are missing. Update controls Windows Java is OK, then research and gives me error number: 0x8024402F. I then ran Fixit MS and he said a component had been repaired, still the same problem. Thanks the problem seems to be with the Web site, rather than on the PC. Is there another way to get updates? Also, try to reset the windows update components and verify if you are able to install.
You can reset windows update components by referring to article:

Download and save the fix it 50202 from the page above.
Close all open programs and browsers before you run the fix it.
As downloads fail, when run you the fix it choose its mode by default when you run the first time.
When he finished, check if download updates now.
If updates are still not download after running it, then run it again and choose his Aggressive mode.
Then reboot and see if the download updates now.

I'm getting this problem on windows update 0x8024402f.
When running in trouble it all problems are resolved except 0x8024402C(2015-09-27-T-01_49_46P) not set

Please provide a copy of your system information file. Type the system information in the search box above the Start button and press the ENTER key (alternative is select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, system information). Select file, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Not to place the cursor in the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new information file system each time system information is available. You must allow a minute or two before the file is completely filled before exporting a copy. Please download the file to your OneDrive, to share with everyone and post a link here. Normal mode preferred report. Please say if the report was obtained in safe mode.
Please download and share with everybody fresh copies of your System log and journal of the Application (two files) of your event viewer on your disc one and post a link here. You can delete any previous copies of your OneDrive records.
To access the system, log, select Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, Event Viewer, in the list on the left of the window, expand Windows logs and select System. Place the cursor on the system, select the Action in the Menu and record all events like (the evtx default file type) and give a name to the file. Do the same for the application log. Do not offer not filtered files. Do not place the cursor in the list of reports before selecting the Action from the menu. Do not clear the logs so that you have a persistent problem.

And I can see that you can not run the System File Checker and verify the disc because that do not have enough privilege to perform these actions. Now you can try to run the System File Checker and Windows safe mode disc, check
1. turn off your computer.
2 turn on the computer and when the POST (Power On Self Test) is completed, press the F8 key until you see Windows advance Options menu.
3. select Safe Mode, and then press enter two times.
4. connect to your administrator account.
5. run the System File Checker, and check the disc.May I know the results updating form new account?

We have a computer in the domain that was not able to run Microsoft Updates (Windows Update worked great, no problem). See below for the newspaper (sorry for the long list). The error lines have been marked in bold.
