  My Internet Explorer on Windows 7 began operation very strangely for several days; for example: I should rarely to my page desired by clicking on links in Google, rather it would be opening a new browser (instead of his usual tab) and take me to random webistes.  Close the page and clicking on would work again normally, but not always.   So... here I am. I tried 5 or 6 different solutions on this forum and those offered through windows update, but still nothing. I am getting very frustrated. My computer is only 6 months old and I have no problems so far. It seems like he just decided to hate me. I can't safely use internet or do the job because I'm afraid he's going to get infected.

  The last update was on 8/14 and since then I can not access the server for updates.  My machine is a Toshiba Satellite L555, CPU Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB, 64-bit with Windows Home Premium.  I get error code 80072EE2. I installed Norton Internet Security.
  This problem also exists on two other computers.  One is a Dell Inspiron with Vista which has had the problem for several months and the other is a same Toshiba that is fresh out of the box and has no additional firewall or antivirus protection.  I would be very appeciate any assistance.   Comment: As I pointed out in my first post above, your mobile Wi - Fi connection may not always reliable enough for Windows Update in order to install Office 2007 SP3. If this is the case, you may need to carry your computer in your son & DIL House to install it, possibly manually (which would require to download the "fullfile" 351,9 MB Installer).

  I really appreciate your response, however, I was able to solve it with the system restore and reinstallation of several windows updates.

  It turned out that a third-party software was the culprit.  Once I made this discovery, I reinstalled the software uninstalled, and carried out the system restore and updates.
