  First of all, if you have the menu bar show. (File-Edit-View-History-Bookmarks-Tools-Help), then you won't see the orange FireFox button because in the new version of FireFox button replaces the menu bar.   Check the msconfig-> Start up tab and take a look at the list of background processes.

  Regarding the patch you downloaded for KB 950750, you may have a corrupt hotfix package or can you download the bad patch for your platform.

  There are three platforms for download:
  x 86, x 64 and ia64.  Is your platform a 32-bit or 64-bit?

  The fix should detect which system you have.
  For example, on my system:

  We have detected that you are currently using a browser that has these attributes:

  Platform: x 86 Language: English (United States)

  At this point, you can ask to download only the file to my system or you can view all three packages.
  Please see if you can copy the file downloaded on another system and try to unpack.  Or try to download another package and see if you can decompress this file. What do you use to unpack the file?

  If please post again and let us know if you are able to unzip the file and install the strongest hot or if you need further assistance.

  A lot of AVs will not install if they find one already installed (and you must have an AV installed in any case).

  Another problem may be how you try to install it:
