  • I get the 0x8078012D error code when I run the Windows backup on an external hard drive.

I get the 0x8078012D error code when I run the Windows backup on an external hard drive.  I have Windows 7 Professional.  That suggests this error code is the problem and how can I solve the problem?

For people who read this thread, I offer the following information.  I solved the problem by noticing that the problem could have been caused, when the system image is created.  So I did a backup without creating the system image and backup is complete without error.

Then I used the backup program to create a system image.  This time error (0x8007045D) was displayed.   The error report says "the operation failed for a device error encountered with the source or the destination. If the volume of the source or the destination is on a disk, run CHKDSK /R on the source volume or destination and then try again using. »

So I ran chkdsk/r, and this program is a bad sector on the hard drive of my computer and fixed the error.  It took about an hour to run the program.  Now, the image of the system and the backup of data file work again.

So I think that the main cause of error (0x8078012D) is deborahgarbe of i/o error (0x8007045D).  So if you get the first error code you can search for fixes for the second error code fix the root cause.

  • How can I prevent Windows Update to write data to my external HARD drive

I have Windows XP running on a controller NI PXI-8106. On this same controller, I have two mapped drives.
1 C drive where Windows is installed
2-external SATA drive mounted in RAID0 used to save sensitive data in our application.

We discovered that Windows update has written files to disk external DRIVE instead of the local drive as we would expected. What could I do to prevent this. It is very important for us, given that the RAID0 data should not be upset by any means. We cannot update Windows to write outside of the C: drive.

I look on various forums and it seems that I'm not the only one in this situation where Windows Update writes data to an external HARD drive, but I have not seen anywhere a solution to avoid this, in addition to unmaping the drive.

During the installation of updates, Windows Update downloads the installers (only) for updates to the drive with free space available. You can either disconnect the external drive when you need and/or free up space on, for example, your boot drive.

  • My new Kindle Fire HD when connected to USB causes files on my external HARD drive to go away, they come back when the Kindle is disconnected and after a reboot, any help please

If after installation with kindle, connected external HARD drive disappears

USB ports are usually "matched" in groups, called hubs root.  These root hubs then control and distribute the power to the USB ports.  If any device on one of the two ports, the hub root, requires too much power, the other port loses power.  When a port USB Hub root loses power, the devices connected to the port 'disappears' of the Windows session.  Normally, after you disconnect the devices from the USB port and reconnect them "must" bring these.

A free USB powered hub can help.  These allow usually additional power over USB ports, on its own USB ports.

    Hello

Do you remember any changes made to your computer?

Follow the steps mentioned below and check if that helps.

    Step 1:

Check if the files are hidden .

    Step 2:

You can also try to connect this external hard disk on another computer and check.

    Step 3:

If none of the steps to help, you may need to get a third party software using your search engine that would recover your lost data.

    WARNING OF THIRD PARTY

Or get a drive for recovery of your computer manufacturer, or borrow a DVD of Vista from Microsoft and reinstall Vista,

    Read the info below:

How to get Vista recovery Media.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • In Windows 7 when you try to copy files to an external hard drive, getting the error "are you sure you want to copy this file without its properties?

I know there have been a few posts on this in the past, but I have a slightly different query.

To copy files from my drive NTFS of Windows 7 64 bit for my Western Digital My Book World Edition II 2 GB player manually, not with the WD software provided), for some files, the following message appears.
"Are you sure you want to copy this file without its properties?  The X file has properties that cannot be copied to the new location. »
After investigation, it appears that Western Digital My Book World Edition II is not NTFS format and is, in fact, driven Linux.
Their technical support has confirmed that, despite the message, it is safe to copy files and rely on this backup (I want to backup my drive HARD whole so I can do a clean install - so it's really important!).
Is anyone able to advise exactly what means the message in terms of properties lost?

If you right-click on one of the files in Windows Explorer, then select Properties, you will see the Details tab of the properties he wouldn't if the files have been copied to a drive not NTFS. They are written in an Alternate Data Stream (ADS), and the FAT format readers include ADS.

It depends on the file type of the importance of these properties. If you have spent a lot of time, adding titles and comments and authors and authors e-mail addresses to docprops your Word documents, for example, that the work would be lost.

If you can live with the loss of these properties, go ahead - standard properties will be re-writings in the file when you restore from backup. It's of course time and resources.

To avoid this problem, format your external drive to use the NTFS system.

    Hello

Remember to make changes to your computer before the problem?

Follow these steps and check if the problem persists.

    Step 1:

You can check if the backup and restore services are started when you try to make a back up of files.

    a. click on start
    b. in the start search box, type Services
    c. click right on - RUN as ADMINISTRATOR

These are the services that must be running when you try to make a return to the top.

    Automatic started Windows event log
    Task Scheduler started auto
    Backup Windows stopped manual

    Step 2:

You may want to consider temporarily disabling your security software and then try to save.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Step 3:

I would also say that you check your disk for errors.

    Check a drive for errors

  • Change formatting without erasing the data on an external hard drive

My post HD format is Mac OS extended (case-sensitive, journaled); It was by default when I used it all first.

But now I want to make changes for Mac OS extended (journaled), as I assume that I will not need to enter the password for authentication whenever I have copy the files thereon.

Is there a way I could format my HD Ext. without erasing the files that are already in HD? Because it would be very awkward to copy the folder back.

Thank you very much in advance!

    X

Sorry but no... you must reformat the hard disk, which will erase the content.

"Case-sensitive" should not be originally to enter your password. "Case-sensitive" is rarely necessary.
