Can you tell me what is the problem and how to fix it.

You need to contact Toshiba for assistance with this process as the recovery disc process belongs to them, has not provided by Microsoft or Windows.

Help, please
Hi Michael,
You're talking about recovery disk from the manufacturer created from the computer recovery partitiion or are you talking about a generic recovery for repairs disk (making it impossible to reinstall the operating system)?
If the recovery disk from the manufacturer, please contact technical support from the manufacturer for assistance that the process of creating a disk of the partition recovery is their process and not Microsoft and varies by manufacturer and sometimes even my computer within this manufacturer model. We do not know how to deal with each type or how to handle a problem such as you experience with this process - even if we knew that the manufacturer make and model specific to computer which you did not (but with which we might be able to provide specific links to the manufacturer).
If you mean a recovery for the repair disk, then try using the following to do an and see if it works any better than any method that you use: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/141820-create-recovery-disc.html.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Tecra A10 - lost HDD Recovery for Vista
Hello Toshiba,
I bought a Tecra a month ago. Here are the details:
Device name: Tecra A10 - 11L
Unit number: PTSB0E-00C006ARFor some reason I have to downgrade the machine in Windowx XP (using the CD-ROM supplied in the packaging recovery). I do not use Vista.
Now I need to go back to the factory installed Vista Business.
I didn't create a Vista recovery CD before downgrading to XP.I think I lost recovery disk for Vista.
Then I found the site to order: https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/serial.aspx
1. I'm not sure I'll order the recovery Vista or XP Media?, it shows (price (including VAT): EUR 29.33)
What recovery media that I will get?
a. VISTA Business recovery
b. recovery XP Media? (that I have)2 is there a hidden partition that I can use it to retrieve the vista?
Can someone help/guide me?
Sincerely,
Andrew
You are right. After installing Windows XP edition family the HDD recovery went and it cannot be used to install more factory settings. There is no hidden partition and you can't do anything.
I really don't understand why you ignored Toshiba reminder on creating recovery DVDs.In any case, I think that you will get Vista 32 Bit SP1 Business (EN) because with this OS is delivered and preinstalled Tecra.

Creating space on recovery (D) Vista disc.
How to create space on the disk "D" of Vista?
Hello
The recovery disk is for all and should be left alone. Why do you want to create
space on it? To create a space you delele thing about whatever increase
the size of the partition. Each manufacturer has its own methods of recovery, then you should check with the system
Maker, their online documentation and their forums (if any).Better to leave the recovery only as long as it is operating normally.
I hope this helps.

Your suggestions to other users did nothing to solve the problem. I always get: 8000FFFF with update microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium. It shows that I have Service Pack 2, but it don't did me not run updates since 2009... I tried the steps with or without Norton anti-virus on.
Hi Okoserce,
You can try the following steps and check if it helps:
Method 1:
You can read the article and check if it helps:
If you have already run the Fixit from the link, then try the manual steps to change the registry settings and check if it helps.
Important: The above link contains steps to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
For more information, you can view the article:
For more information, see the article:
Method 2:

I recently lost a hard drive and I had a new installed in a laptop Toshiba Satellite A305-S6905. I ordered the recovery media and when I run it it starts copying files and then publishes the message "Cannot read from source file or disk" and says it's PREINST.8. I don't know what that means. The hard drive is new, the recovery media is new, and I don't know how to go further. It gives me the ability to ignore and I anpother error message which says 10-FC06-0002, and that the recovery does not and click on 'ok' to restart the computer. I'm at an impasse in circles.

You will need to contact Toshiba re problems with their recovery media.
This isn't their recovery process, Microsoft.

Change the drive letter of recovery drive (vista home 64)
I can change it from d to z: I need d: for another purpose.
Thank you
Peter
PeterK514,
It is safe to change the drive letter as long as no other program or service is dependent on growing location. The recovery discs, usually access you their data outside of the windows environment and the recovery console (by pressing a button of keyboard during startup), and so it would be prudent change the assigned letter. However if your recovery for you program manufacturer, or any other software that relies on this drive, run from Vista, it can interfere with its ability to operate properly. Consult your OEM for more details on their dependencies of the program.

Hello
There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.
And Microsoft sells more than Vista.
Try this:
You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:
"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html
And once the operating system is installed, go to the website of the manufacturer of your computer (In your particular hardware manufacturer case) and get the latest drivers for your particular model computer or laptop.
And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

If you want to try the Startup Repair tool, read this information:
Here is the guide to repair Options using a Vista DVD from Microsoft.
If a friend or a work acquantance of yours has one, you can borrow and use it for repairs.

If you do not or can not borrow a Microsoft DVD there is a download of a file ISO of Vista Startup Repair available that you can put on a Bootable floppy to make the above startup repair and that the method is recommended by a large number of posters in these Forums.
Unfortunately, you have to buy it.

my old hard drive broke a change ti year now I ave no file recovery
Hello
There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.
You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.
They should do this for a small fee.
Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.
If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

Gateway dx 4200-ub001a
quadruple-heart, 6 GB of ram. No hardware problem, that I can find.restarts just constant return to the windows error recovery screen.get a blue screen saying change the bios if it continues to happen, but nothing specific. Impossible to getBIOS screens in any case. nothing takes me out of the loop, I can understand.See if you can load (using F10 or F12) a free Diagnostics, bootable from here: http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html
If this does not work, then try F2 to enter the BIOS.
Together, the boot order so that the CD/DVD is first, then try to run the diagnostics bootable from here and free: http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.htmlfIf this does not work, then you need to try another CD/DVD drive (or take it to a shop for an estimate).
Good luck!

Hi all
system information: HP DV6 LAPTOP, windows vista sp1
When I try to install windows vista sp1 disks/recovery partition that I get the error recovery manager prompting me to choose either to see the details of the failure or restart: CTOERROR.flg as a Notepad on my desk. I did try 100 times but nothing helped. I can't restart after this recovery failure message because it shows the dialog box when restarting: windows security update is not properly installed or is not approved. So, I have to go through the process of recovery again to see the desktop (any operation - music video, internet, all), but only once.
The last time I got this message too. When I did the windows installation of recovery a few months back discs, this time I figured out to install all updates IMP to automatic update via update of windows. All updates have been installed successfully, then it restarted and gone through the process of language settings, time settings and everything...
But this time when I'm trying to update windows, I get windows update, error 0 x 643 which is updating security for .net Framework 3.5 sp1 and update family. I don't know the answer how to exit with this error "windows help" and also this forum too, which asks for the installation of the updates of the .net framework from the windows update site directly. But the problem is:
Updated Windows ask me to restart windows automatic or manual update installation takes place and restart causes problem because it shows the dialog box - windows security update is not installed successfully. I need to install all updates at once like last time of my understanding. :
1. so, if I install the update to windows (to try my luck as last time) it says error 0 x 643 for .net framework and you ask to reboot, and after that when I try to manually install failed 0 x 643 updated it asks me to restart windows for pending updates.
2. in the alternative, if I try to install the update failed everything first just after the failure of the recovery it doesn't allow me to install important updates for vista sp1 and asked to restart windows.
All I need is to update all updates via windows automatic update that is not happening at the moment.
Not even be able to upgrade to sp2 bcz it also restarts for installation.
Help, please.
Thanks in advance.
Hi harry973,
Download Service Pack 1 will not convert in a disc in Windows Vista Service Pack 1.
A recovery disk will not be useful to perform an Inplace upgrade to.
You will need the original Windows Installation disc.
If the disc that came with the computer, then it would be a drive OEM (manufacturer). This disk can only be used for a reinstallation of Windows.
Hope this helps!
