Error starting InDesign CC: '... ". lack of sufficient permissions to access the folders preferences"

InDesign CC

After having successfully installed many apps CC on my Mac Pro desktop computer, I started to do the same thing on my laptop. However, after two attempts to uninstall and re - download the CC InDesign and creative cloud Office. When starting InDesign, several times I get this error message: "error: unable to launch Adobe InDesign that you don't have sufficient permissions to access the folders preferences.» Make sure that you have permissions, restart Adobe InDesign. "and can not go any further.

I can't find any instructions on how to do it, or make reference to anyone else get this error.

I saw this stock suggestion posted many discussions. I solved the problem with LiveChat with Support from Adobe:

Mohammed: If I understand well you're not able to launch CC apps since it gives error "unable to launch Adobe InDesign that you do not have sufficient permissions to access the preferences folders. Is this correct?

Paul: Yes

Mohammed: Open a Finder window. Choose go > go to folder. ~/Library type and you will get file Preferences.

Paul: In the library now

Mohammed: Are you able to find the Preferences folder?

Paul: Yes

Mohammed: Control-click on the folder and choose read information.

Mohammed: Expand the section sharing & permissions.

Mohammed: Click the padlock icon in the lower corner on the right. Enter your administrator user name and password when you are prompted, and then click OK.

Paul: done

Mohammed: Please click on + icon and add the Admin and showing all users.

Paul: done

Mohammed: Set permission read/write for all users and the admin

Mohammed: Click the gear icon and select apply point-to-point closed

Paul: for each of the individual users and groups?

Paul: one at a time?

Paul: I did it.

Mohammed: Open a Finder window. Choose go > go to folder. Enter ~/library/Application support and give all the permissions file to Adobe.

Paul: Who is over... I have added all the users and groups, given to each "read and write" and extended permissions to all of the included items.

Mohammed: Now please open a Finder window. Choose go > go to folder. File type support and give all the permissions file to Adobe.

Paul: Okay, I understand... I proceed to your instructions.

Mohammed: thank you very much.

Paul: I'm done.

Mohammed: Please close all Adobe Applications and then launch InDesign CC and let me know the result.

Paul: OK... looking for good Mohammed far... fingers crossed!

Paul: Thank you Mohammed... She has launched!

Mohammed: Excellent, I'm so happy to hear this from you.

Mohammed: I certainly appreciate your patience in this process.

Paul: And I have yours.

    Hi André,.

It seems your preferences and cache files have not all permissions. There are two things you can do to solve this problem:

    1. provide full access to the preferences and cache of InDesign files, more information on ERROR when you try to launch

    2. or create a new user on your system admin and start InDesign from there.

  • I can't change anything in the control panel. My computer says I may have not sufficient permissions to access the item.

We have tried everything we can think of changing the time in our computer.  Whenever we click on the small box in the lower right corner, he says - "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file.  May not permissions to access you the item.  In addition, we are unable to add or remove programs or making changes through the control panel.  Help

All the problems you describe are problems that could occur if the user that you are connected without administrator privileges.  The quick check of administrator privileges must right click on the button 'start '.  If "Open All Users" is one of the choices that appear, then you have administrator privilege.  Otherwise, you must connect to your machine like the built-in 'administrator' or a user in the group "Administrators".

Assuming that you have administrator privileges, things get more complicated.  User rights can be granted or denied to any user - even administrators - by group policy.  If you are an administrator and you have XP Pro, then you might be able to check or change the user rights by using the Group Policy Editor (from-> Run-> "gpedit.msc").  Search in the:

Computer configuration-> Windows settings-> security settings-> local policies-> user rights

path.  One of these user rights is "Change the System Time".  If your XP Pro machine was never part of a domain, I would consider also running a program anti-malware on your system.

If you have XP Home Edition, you don't have the Group Policy Editor.  You will need to check / adjust / modify your user rights by using the command line program "NTRights" provided with the Resource Kit.  Problems like that with XP Home would raise my suspicions that you have a malware infestation.

  • Cannot launch Adobe InDesign that you do not have sufficient permissions to access the preferences folders. Make sure that you have the appropriate permissions and then restart Adobe InDesign.

I'm unable to launch InDesign CC2015 and I get the above message. A little history: my daughter (college House) had already installed CC2015 on our computer at home for little work. It has access through his school. I decided to sign for my subscription to the CC and were able to open Photoshop, Illustrator and other apps that I downloaded, simply not InDesign. I deleted his old copy and re-installed InDesign, but still no luck.

I am connected to creative cloud through my account, not his. Any suggestions? Thank you.

She motioned to his account of cloud so the computer would be 'open' and waiting for you to sign IN?

You use an account that has ADMINISTRATOR-level permissions?

Do run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says again and also to Adobe all emissions] will sometimes fix errors "weird" or "authorization".

  • permissions to access the inventory

    Hello

I have a little problem I do not understand why or how to fix properly.

First of all, I am trying to install Oracle 11.2.0.1 on a server that I had simply reassigned.
This server has already been implemented with Oracle 11.2.0.2.
The server is running Linux 2.6.

First of all, the server was initially arranged irregularly so I more or less repartitioned it and starting over.
I disassembled the old partitions and downloaded Oracle 11.2.0.1.
I ran first and he apparently found the former location for the oraInventory, (probably because I had the old road still in my .profile).

Anyway, so now I've cleaned my .profile and I renamed the directory that was the old oraInventory.
For reference, it was located at/opt/oracle/app/oraInventory, but I didn't ' want to use this location.
How can I get the installer YES to stop staring at this place?

It keeps me in error (now that I've renamed "app" to "_app", so it can not find).
    The error I get is:

You do not have sufficient permissions to access the inventory "/ opt/oracle/app/oraInventory. Installation cannot continue...

So I unzipped even my software downloaded again, but that has not helped.
Is it puts a file somewhere that he wants to read?
    I have cleaned up/tmp already.

    THX.

Yes - edit the file (or rename this file and create a new one) to point to the location of the inventory, you want to use.

Also, your operating system is Linux 5.7 (not 2.6)

    cat /etc/redhat-release

    Hello Bill,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

This problem usually occurs in one of the following scenarios:

    • The system group doesn't have full control privileges.
    • The Everyone group has full control privileges.

Try to give a full permission to the installation of the program files folder. Then, try to install the application.

    1. As stated in your question, go to the location: C:\Programdata\microsoft\windows\startmenu\programs
    2. Right click on the folder to , and click Properties.
    3. Go to the Security tab and click Edit.
    4. Click on Add.
    5. Type everyone in the space to enter names.
    6. Click check names , and then click OK.
    7. Checkbox control in the list of permissions for all the world.
    8. Click apply and then click continue on each pop-up you receive later.
    9. Click OK.

After having done with the above steps, try to install the program and check if the problem persists.

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

  • Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You can not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

    Hello

I recently changed to use AVG free Antivirus Vista 2010 edition and since then (next day) seems to be locked out almost everything on the computer other then IE.  Open any kind of .exe translates into "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You don't have the appropriate permissions to access the item. "I can access the Control Panel, but when I try to run something (a user restore Sys account) nothing happens or I get the same error.  I can not even access/cmd?

Operating system is vista 64 bit home premium
Computer has 1 which is defined as administrator SP1
Tried to do a restore of the system in normal mode and safe, the two will not start.

I have a feeling I know what the problem is, that when you look at the properties > Security "Progam files" in the 5 groupnames user administrator has not enabled in the lower area of permissions?  Guess a virus has locked all accounts to use the machine key files? (When editing and allowing the admin to have full control etc. in written authorization, I get an "access denied" Message.)  Be honest this really problems out of my PC knowledge, I would usually just reformat if I hit I can't solve a problem, but this time reformating is not the best option.

Thanks in advance for any help, I would really appreciate it, it left me speechless!

PS. read through the similar questions and have used the "fix windows' programs, with nothing working or me being not able to access something used.

    Hi Dany88,

First of all, I would say that you uninstall security antivirus vista 2010 of computer software, since there are several questions on the computer after installing. This software may have created conflicts between other programs on the computer.

As you face problems to access items from 'Control panel', I would say you visit the security software vendor's Web site and search a tool of suppression using which you can uninstall the software.

Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

If questions are set after uninstalling security software, I suggest that you change the security antivirus vista to some else software or contact the vendor of the software for more information.

I would also say that you are investigating the computer by using the methods mentioned in the link below.
