• Essbase dimension build shared members

  Hello

  I will have questions and he drives me crazy!

  I'm building a dimension using parent child references. The first generation of dimension puts members stored in place. The second generation implements the shared members. I am not getting any errors and still 'shared' members are not being built with shared member label. Documentation, I was under the impression that essbase should realize that they are shared and mark them accordingly during the generation of dimension?

  I can go through and manually set the shared in EA after than the build... but it kind of defeats the object.

  I feel I missed something just really hehe. Any help would be appreciated.

  The only time where the outline you would save with members not be labeled as hared, is that if you have names of members in double lit in the sketch, otherwise you will get errors.  One thing you can check in the generation of dimension properties is that you do shared members is more verified and allow moves is not checked

• dimension members start with zero (0)?

  Is it possible to have essbase dimension member names starting with number as say 0123? Its getting stored as 123. The 0 (zero) as the first alphabet is ignored. Pls help.

  Certainly possible. Naming limitations are described here: Naming Conventions for Essbase

  What do you mean when you say that it is getting "stored" without the zero? I wonder if your recovery in Excel and Excel is stripping the leading zero significant (use an apostrophe as a prefix in Excel in this case).

Now I want to add another dimension, a custom8 (UD8) in the script in order to avoide compensation all data in custom8 ESSBASE dimension.i want just to filter the data on compensation for the value in the dimension custom8.

  I have a problem with exporting data into Essbase, it works slow veeerz.

  Steps to reproduce->

  1 start export step in order to export/load data into Essbase. Starting export message display processing, please wait... and it hungs here. Export process never ends.

  Thanks for the reply. Problem solved. Problem was in configuration. In Essbase dimension entity adapter has been disabled, and in the script, in addition, there was an inplanted value '-'. When we activated the entity dimension in Essbase adapter, export to Essbase lasts 20 sec.

  The time dimension, I believe only applies to the epma essbase dimensions and creates a time dimension essbase.
  The period dimension can be applied to planning, essbase, consolidation.

  So if you create an application of epma essbase and want the functionality of a time dimension, then you create a time dimension.

• No way of filling Essbase members in Excel drop down list in Excel Add-In

  I have a requirement I need to fill out a member of the Essbase Dimension to a Drop-Down in Excel Add-In, which should get updated when members will be updated in the outline.
  I don't want to use the method to take members of Essbase to another worksheet and using them for the Drop-Down in Excel via the 'Data Validation' option because it will be static and will not update once the Member in the outline is being updated.

  There is no simple solution to what you ask. Essbase Excel add-in is a simple tool for watching a manipulation of the data in a "simple". The rest is directed by Excel, using excel functions. You must have the use of any tool of reporting (analysis, OBIEE, website etc.)? These tools can help you a lot in the analysis of the data and you can do almost anything with them.

• Best way to migrate (RDBMS and Essbase) planning data between systems

  Hello. I need to migrate data from planning (fact data relationship of Planning (time and text comments) and Essbase). Migration of Essbase is relatively simple (migration of Essbase dimension data and then export and reload fact Essbase data) but I'm not sure on the best way to migrate relational data 100% done. Should I do a dump of the schema and then migrating the other system of planning? Thank you.

  -> Model created for both technologies & boning, the tables and the dimensions are extracted in both models

  Imported KM as

  RKM Hyperion Essbase,

  LKM SQL file

  LKM hyperion Essbase Data SQL

  LKM hyperion Essbase Metadata for sql

  LKM oracle to oracle (DBLINK)

  LKM Oracle to oracle (datapump)

  LKM sql for oracle

  IKM sql for HyperionEssbase (DATA)

  IKM Sql for Hyperion Essbase (METADATA)

  Drag and dropped the Oracle Source (table) and target Hyperion Essbase (Dimensions) and mapped the respective records from source to the target

  An LKM is responsible for loading the source data from a remote server to the staging area. It is used by the interfaces when some of the data source stores are not on the same database as the staging server. In your scenario, the target cannot be designated as the staging area as Essbase is not a relational technology, so you would need only a LKM if your waiting area was not also on your Source (the Oracle database that contains your source table). If this is the case and you have a separate staging of hotel for example SUNOPSIS MEMORY engine you must a LKM as LKM SQL for SQL. If you set the staging area to be on your Source then you will not need to specify an LKM.

  This is why, according to the location of your staging area you need the following KM, LKM SQL for SQL and SQL IKM Hyperion Essbase (DATA) or just the SQL IKM Hyperion Essbase (DATA)

  I use FDM 11.1.2.1 with Essbase adapter.
  
  I've set up a validation rule to report the entities that were loaded, but which are not on the lower level of the dimension ENTITY.
  To do this, I added an account "+ LevelNumber + ' is Essbase ACCOUNT dimension, which returns the current number of entity level.
  The rule is defined as the #ModeRule and the logic of the rule is "+ |, LevelNumber, | ' > 0 + ".
  However, when the validation is performed when the 'registration' in the workflow and the report is generated, an error of 'RESEARCH' in the value of report column and each entity has a status of "error".
