I want to emphasize that IVR is not really necessary, but a bug - fix material, which was introduced at the same time as IVR.  Thus, the real need for Workstation 6.5 for AMD - V support is family 10 H and processors later.  Your CPU is family 0FH.

  • PowerEdge T105 - could not build bench

We are a non-profit with very limited budget, and we have a PowerEdge T105 server. We want to protect by the acquisition of a complete set of spare parts. I bought a motherboard (0D682C), a processor AMD Opteron 1352, a heat sink (GP172), a processor fan (WP747), a panel of control e/s before (GP461) and one power (L305P-01 NH493). I borrowed the RAM our server to work. I have connected a floppy drive, a SATA hard drive, a keyboard, a mouse and a screen VGA (all well known parties) and he set up on the bench without breaking.

It turns on but does not start. In other words, the light turns green power (but the front four lights in the Panel/o GP461 never turn on or off), the CPU fan turns, the powers of disk hard on and nothing else happens. I ordered another treatment, but it did not help.

Our production server has a reference number of 0P957K motherboard, which differs from the 0D682C that I bought. Could be the problem? (The Opteron properly fits into the 0D682C.)

Memory is well known and I tried another power supply, nothing helps. The disk is never accessible. There is never any VGA display.

Before you buy another motherboard, is there something else to try? The PowerEdge server have to make its case to start correctly?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

    Best regards, AndyA

The only requirements are the devices listed above, if the system did not come under this configuration so it is something about on these specific devices.

With the visionaries of diagnosis being it is the computer is turned off or a failure before the BIOS.

The Opteron 1352 shows supported, but you have the specific part for this number?

  • Installation of VMware ESX3.0 in workstation

    Hello everyone.

Im very new in VMware and im trying to install VMware ESX server version 3.0 in a VMwareworkstation.

but the problem is I get the message in the first step:

the thinking has been unable to find any supported network device

Press 'OK' to restart your system

can someone help me here please?

First thing physical nic card should support1gbps speed.

Hi, before you make the instalation ESX3.0 3.5 in the workstation 6. You must add two additional lines in the .vmx file. Create the virtual machine with Redhat Linux 5 64 bit for esx3.0. Bydefault VM store in your desktop computer in Documents/virtualmachine.

Edit the .vmx with notepad file add these two lines.

    monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = TRUE
    monitor_control.vt32 = TRUE

Check that a two other lines are available or not in the .vmx file

    ethernet0. Present = TRUE
    ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000".

  • Multichemin config in ESX3.5U3 and ESX4 difference

In order to frame the question, here is my setup.

I have four ESX servers. Three 3.5U3 ESX servers, the other is ESX4.

All servers have two HBAS, and each is zoned to the same LUN on a Clariion NS480 (SAN has two SP). This gives a total of 4 paths to 1 logical unit number to each HBA.

Each server is set to MRU.

ESX3.5 servers when running 'Manage paths' shows four paths, but lists only one of them as being active.

The ESX 4 server when executing "Managing paths" shows four paths, but lists two of them as being active.

Take a look at the attached .jpg. The left image shows what looks like the "Managing paths" one ESX3.5 servers. The image on the right comes from the server ESX4.

Am I missing something? I thought THAT SRM means that only one path has been active at the same time, and the others were passive. Not sure why the ESX4 shows active 2-way.

Config appears correct.  ESX4 recognized your device type and the ATAS approprirate is selected and activated the best paths based on the type of array.  / O will be on your way to active IO.  If you need to change your policy of round robin, you can see several paths as active of e/s, so you can see what paths are active for e/s and which are just active, who are waiting.

  • Problem running get-viserver on esx3.5u3 (123630)

I had no problem to run get-viserver on earlier versions.  Now, I get the message:

Get-VIServer: input string is not in the correct format.

    On line: 1 char: 13

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!!

    Yes, VITK v1.5.

  • You can add a vlan id vswif0 command line in ESX3.5u3?

    Hello

Have I missed something, but is it possible to add an id vlan to the vSwif0 Console of service by default, without having to rebuild the host?

I couldn't see anything in the esxcfg-vswif command, or the following:

    sysconfig

    / etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-vswif0

I have rebuilt an ESX host adding an id and vlan even against the above files, but couldn't see an additional line for id vlan

    Thank you

    Matt

    esxcfg-vswitch:

Pei |-pg = portgroup specify a portgroup to operation

Use the SET to set the VLAN ID on all exchanges

v |-vlan = id id vlan Set portgroup specified by Pei

    0 would disable the vlan

  • No installed operating system - Dell Poweredge t105

I installed ESXi 4.0 Update 1 successfully, but at startup, I get the message "No. Operating System" installed Any ideas/suggestions are appreciated!

What type of disks / RAID controller you have in your system?

Some controllers with multiple LUNS or RAID sets configured, I saw a question where ESXi does not list the LUNS in the same order as the RAID controller, so when installing ESXi on disk0 (the first drive presented by ESXi) I found myself with "no operating system". I have not found the cause of this yet, however when I installed ESXi on the second disc it worked.

  • Installation ESXi4u1 to the workstation 7

Not sure if this is the same process as ESX3.5 to Workstation 6.5.  Could you be it someone please let me know if they did it and perhaps a few pointers?

ESX 4.0 is a taken guests supported to workstation title 7.  Simply select ESX 4.0 as your guest operating system type, and you should find painless installation.

  • ESX 3.5 is very slow in the workstation 6.5.2

    Hi all

For test purposes, I installed ESX3.5 in my 6.5.2, work station it will take a very long time to get the final screen. Can u please help me solve this problem.

the details of my office are:

    Motherboard - intel DG31PR-LGA775 socket.

iPROCESSORquad core 2 ntel Q9400 2.66 GHZ, 6 MB cache L2, LGA 775 95W(it has the feature of the technology intel VT).

    RAM - 2 GB DDR 2

HARD - 160 GB SATA DRIVE

working on the OS platform: windows 2008 Server

I've tried editing the .vmx files, I followed all the steps specified in "How to install esx3.5 in workstation 6.5" also. but still, it will take more than 30 minutes to run a single esx [ram allocated is 1024] in a worksation.

What will be the question. Help me solve this problem?

Yes, I think that VT - x is locked on the feature control MSR.  However, the CPUID instruction reported that your processor has no ability of VT - x.  Before, we look at the feature control MSR, the CPUID instruction must declare that the processor is able to use VT - x extensions.  To resolve this problem, you need to update your BIOS.

Another this VMDK the biggest machine we have everywhere else is less than 500 GB and we never had problems.

As far as I know, there are no problems to know. Consult with ESXTOP what really the problem during execution of this work.

  • Backup Exec 12.5 and VCB - support requirements and agent

I noticed there is now an agent, which you can purchase from Symantec that allows you to save as many guests on the particular host windows as you want without any agent (though law enforcement officers are still required).

    http://eval.Symantec.com/mktginfo/Enterprise/other_resources/b-solution_brief-bews12.5_agent_vmware_virtual_infrastructure_09-2008.en-us.PDF

My question is this - from what I can find on the web, ESX 3.5 U3 does not support the latest integration modules Backup Exec (pre and post backup scripts etc.). So based on this, using Backup Exec 12.5 with VCB Symantec agent is needed giving you the GUI (no longer need to customize scripts for VM backups).

    Can someone please clarify this?

The Agent gives you a GUI with VCB integration. You should always install VCB, just not the integration kit. You can always do it the "old school" way. The modules BE did never seem to work 100% anyway and you can the House push something pre and post if you do not want to pay for the agent.

I think that VMware just stopped creating integration because the older kits kits are relatively stable. I tested with esx3.5u3/vc2.5u4 and have no problem. There is no update for VCB, so there is no update for the kits.

I know that you have done this before, then you probably haven't this info, but I just posted a guide on the VI:OPS on VCB as a generic facility backup->http://viops.vmware.com/home/docs/DOC-1392
