ex6100 Extender

Hello

Bit of a numbskull with these questions, simple answers would be appreciated please!

Chat live Netgear have set up my wife's cell phone and smart phone to recognize the Extender, my laptop while acknowledging the existence of the Extender to the router not connecting open and I cannot open Netgearmart set up engineering even if initially before the live chat has done its job, it would be. Any ideas why this please and how to fix or do, I'll be using live chat?

Hi CAL,

What operating system is running your laptop (OSX / WIN)? Please, try to remove the network profile and reconnect to the EX6100.
Can you confirm that your laptop wireless card has an updated driver?

You can also check if the EX6100 is the latest firmware running.

Let us know if you need more assistance.

Kind regards

NhanN

I am still at the initial stage of the implementation using WPS. All the lights are working properly and the new network is visible, but the password for my original router is not be accepted. It is the correct password because it is printed on the router.

I've seen a few posts to not accept passwords, but they say all adjust the parameters in the genius of netgear.

How do you get it on without first putting the password?

Engineering does not connect unless you use the new connection extender!

    Have sorted it.

Reset everything and then completely ignored the WPS configuration.

  • EX6100 EXTENDER no light client

For some reason, the Extender does not connect. The light of the customer does not come. There is no change after resetting, powering the network and start again, wiring of the Extender to wireless router. This has not happened before. The light on the router is enabled, but not the light of the customer. If anyone has experienced this?

    Thank you. Chris

I forgot the obvious. After you have moved the Extender around the House a little, both lights green. Conditions seem to have changed.

  • Netgear Extender 6100

My PC is in my study, while my TalkTalk router is in my room before some 30 feet away. I'm not very technical interest, but as I had problems connecting with my PC I decided to try a 6100 Extender. It is in an outlet in the lobby between my living room and my study. First set up was easy and I was soon connected and delighted that the number of bars shown on my connection went from two to five. I also have a streaming hi fi in my study so I connected it to my extension as well, but then that in the past, he would lose connection on the odd occasion, plugged into the Extender it lost connection every ten to fifteen minutes. I solved this problem by connecting the hi fi back directly on the router and it now works again.

This morning, the PC said there is no internet connection, but like the hi fi play webradio I assumed something was wrong with the Extender. I tried to connect the PC directly to the router, but it still says no internet connection, I checked my Tablet and phone which are connected to the router and they were both very good. I had to disable the Extender and restart the router and on back - turning on the PC it is reconnected to the internet through the Extender. The kit else happily reconnected to the router.

I've never had this problem with my PC and don't understand why it wouldn't connect. Also why does my internet radio not connect via the Extender. This is not a problem because the reception is very good most of the time. I have however read others say that the Extender loses a wi fi connection and I wonder if there is a problem with these. I wonder if I should have bought instead powerline adapters. If so these will work with the extension sockets?

    Hi CornishDave,

There are two ways to update your EX6100.

Either automatically by clicking on "check for update" in the settings page

or by manually downloaded the file from the link provided above, then download it on the settings page.

The download is a. file zip , you can open it with a program like WinRAR. Inside is a. chk file, you would have to download this file in your settings page.

  • EX6100 thin antenna and positioning

Can someone tell me if the two antennas on the EX6100 are for specific purposes, such as 2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz, or router communication vs. communication device? It would help to position the antennas as well as the device itself.

    Hello siriusbs

They are both of those things to receive the signal from the router and broadcasting 2.4 and 5 ghz wifi so I would like to try your best to position the Extender on the edge of your routers wifi signal but if she still is a good signal.

  • The Lord of the rings extended editions in iTunes Store

Do not know where to write this request...

I'm a fan of long standing of the Lord of the rings and the Hobbit.

As a fan, I want as much I can, and I have the extended version of the Hobbit.

But for some reason I can't find the long version of the Lord of the rings, and they give more sense when you read the books.

Is this really a wish or someone know how to get in iTunes DK/EU?

I have them on DVD but I have in my store on my ATV.

You can try to contact the Danish rights to the film holder and ask them to put them in the Danish store. You can also try to asking them through iTunes, but without the agreement of the holder of the rights, Apple will not be able to sell it: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • Impossible to extend the existing wi - fi with time capsule airport

    Hello

I have one Capsule of airport TB 2 hung on an Ethernet in my study (lower level).

I already have an existing wi - fi network to ISP modem/router to my media box provided at the top level.

In addition, I have an Extender provided by the ISP of lower level.

I would try to expand the scope of the wi - fi with my time capsule without creating an additional network.

I tried several times to do so, but either it freezes up or creates its own network despite the

mode bridge as stated in Airport utility.

Guide gently with the method or Protocol correct to put that in place.

    Thank you

I would try to expand the scope of the wi - fi with my time capsule without creating an additional network.

It sounds like you may try to extend the network of your "main" router wireless

The time Capsule will not be able to extend wireless network if your 'main' router is also an Apple AirPort base station.  Or... in other words if your 'main' router is not an Apple product, then the time Capsule will not be able to extend wireless network.

So, the first question to ask here would be... What is the number of brand and model of your router "main"?

If you intend to leave the time Capsule connected to your main router with an Ethernet connection, the Capsule must have the maximum value of "create a wireless network.  If you use the same wireless network name and password using your 'main' router, Time Capsule will provide additional wireless coverage in the area where it is located.

  • Can I use an old station Airport Express to extend your network using a new Airport Express Terminal?

I had an old Airport Express station and wanted to exchange for a newer version and use the old ones to expand the range in our House. Is this possible?

By 'old' are you referring to the AirPort Express (model A1084) to 802.11 g? If Yes, then you won't be able to use it to extend the latest Express with a wireless connection between them.

However, you can use it in a roaming network configuration, which would force base stations to be connected by Ethernet.

  • AirPort Extreme: extend only 5 GHz network

Attached to my TV Sony is a transmitter Brightech DoublePlay HD Bluetooth 4.0, running on the band 2.4 GHz effects seriously communications on my WiFi network (demonstrated unequivocally by the device to the USB port on the TV).

If I can force time Capsule 802.11n (4th generation) in my living room to expand the WiFi network exclusively on the 5 GHz band.

I named the Base Station Airport Extreme 802.11n 5 GHz network (5th generation) and have set up time Capsule 802.11n (4th generation) in my living room to expand the 5 GHZ network named (not WiFi Dual Band network) but me uncertain whether time Capsule 802.11n (4th generation) in my living room is locked on the band of 5 GHz. is there a way to check this.

    Appreciate your help, any...

WiFi performance was dreadful while listening to the sound of movie via Bluetooth head sets, take several hours to be ready to play a movie in iTunes or play will stall and plans several hours to be ready to resume.  If I can lock the time Capsule 802.11n (4th generation) in my living room on the network of WiFi 5 GHz, I think I'll have the trouble of sorting.

If I can force time Capsule 802.11n (4th generation) in my living room to expand the WiFi network exclusively on the 5 GHz band.

Sorry, but no. When you extend an Apple base station, two radio stations are extended.

  • WDS Airport Roaming vs vs Extended Network

    Hello friends,

In a roaming network, all airports have the same wireless network name and wireless security settings. If I'm not mistaken in WDS also the same rule should be followed. Is also applicable to a network of Airport Extreme Extended (1 main base station connected to a broader base station)?

If this is the case then a user can move freely between these extremes of the airport with the same user name and password in any scenario 3. So what is the difference besides the AEs interconnected via ethernet and wireless in 3 different topology?

    Thank you.

In a roaming network, all airports have the same wireless network name and wireless security settings. If I'm not mistaken in WDS also the same rule should be followed.

It is basically correct. Routers for Apple, there are three types of networks "scopes": 1) expanded that using wireless connections between fixed stations, 2) Roaming using connections between base stations, & 3) Wireless Distribution System (WDS) wired. WDS uses also all wireless connections.

The first two replaced WDS that was designed to be used only with the old base station 802.11 g. He has a major advantage. You can extend a network in a series as employed the use of a "main", "relay", and "distance" base stations. This feature is not embedded with the new models, elongated or Roaming.

Is also applicable to a network of Airport Extreme Extended (1 main base station connected to a broader base station)?

For the most part, Yes. The extended base station that's exactly right and the extension of the primary Wi - Fi network. So it would have the same network name and use the same type of security and password.

If this is the case then a user can move freely between these extremes of the airport with the same user name and password in any scenario 3. So what is the difference besides the AEs interconnected via ethernet and wireless in 3 different topology?

The main difference is overall performance of bandwidth of a Wi - Fi. Maintaining an extensive network using wireless connections only requires treatment of additional network traffic. This overload can reduce the bandwidth available to normal wireless traffic. This problem does not exist with a roaming network.

The other problem with a network extended wireless all is loss of bandwidth. Each added to the extended network, base station reduces overall bandwidth almost in half. Again, this is not a problem with the network of mobile type.

Finally, with a network extended wireless all base stations which extend to extend the hand to the same bandwidth it receives from the hand to this place. So the wireless clients connected to one of the extension of base stations will produce ever and when then are connected to the main.

  • How to reconfigure wireless network extended with several base stations

I have a wifi network in an Airport Extreme wired to the modem from our Internet service provider and an Airport Express Terminal extended wireless in another part of the House. I recently added a second Airport Extreme (also extended wireless) to boost coverage in another area of the House. I want to have the Express and the extreme second each wireless connection directly to the base station to the modem to have the shortest path to the main base station, but the Airport utility network diagram seems to keep showing the network of linearly (main Extreme base - second extreme - Express). So, two questions: first, represents the schema of utility Airport the signal path real (linear Express by Extreme II, then to Extreme II/modem)?  And secondly, if so, how to reconfigure the network to have both Express and Extreme II forking the extreme base I directly, rather than having the food by Extreme II, then Extreme I Express. The network showed that the desired branched network yesterday, but today went back into the linear trajectory. I tried a simple drag and drop graphic to move the Express, thinking that surely the Apple would implement such a simple, logical and direct way to manage the network, but no. Have not seen another way to configure the network manually, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

It is very important to understand that Apple "extend a wireless network" works on signal strength.

In order to have the AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme to extend the network of the 'main' extreme wireless, two conditions must be fulfilled:

    (1) the AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme extension should both be on the same relative distance of the extreme 'main '.

    (2) AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme extension must both be closer to the extreme 'main' they are to each other.

In other words, a well put together would have your "main" AirPort Extreme in the middle of the House, with a Terminal AirPort Express on one end of the House and the AirPort Extreme to the other end of the House.  In this configuration, the two airports are about the same distance from the extreme 'main'... and... "" oth extending airports are located more close to the "main" airport that they are with each other.

  • Airport Express does not extend WiFi range

OK, I posted a long time will cost about an airport older Gen Express not extending my wifi range when implemented to extend (wireless) and connected to a network of Apple (Airport Extreme). No solution, so I gave up.

Still frustrated by the lack of a strong wifi signal to my back door / Garden (it is a small house!), I bought a new Express and set it up again to extend my current network, placed it on my window sill back room (where I get a pretty good wifi signal on my iPhone and iPad), but about 6 feet of him, the other side of the glass in my garden I get a flicker of 1-2 bars the signal strength that is de-energized intermittently.

I get no significant (or even vaguely reasonable) increase in force wifi when I approach from the Express, but increase next to the extreme.

Or should I put either the express until properly (I'm sure I'm) or I am fundamentally misunderstand the term "extend a wireless network. Alternatively, I bought 3 years 2 defective Express apart.

    Can anyone help?

    See you soon.

You have a handy Mac laptop? If so, we can run tests to understand the current quality of the signal at each location where you want to have a Wi - Fi access. If all goes well, we can find better place to place your Express extension for your goals of networking.

  • The LAN on an Express port still works as a LAN port when in mode "extend the Wi - Fi network"?

Assuming that the current versions of all units in the airport:

If you have an extreme as your primary access point, and you have an Express "extend a Wi - Fi network" mode, the LAN on the Express port still works as a LAN port?

Yes. You can connect any Ethernet device to that port.

  • Using Extreme as Extender TC

Current configuration: Time Capsule tower (a/c version) as main router and using Airport Extreme (A1143) as extender via Powerline (AV2, gigabit ports).

Thanks for all the great advice on setting up the network in previous posts.  I have a few specific questions, I saw not specifically addressed:

    (1) I have implemented EI using airport utility to expand my main network.  It seems that I'm set up correctly, because airport utility shows a line full of my TC to my AE (indicating a connection between the two ethernet).

However, looking at my AE settings in airport tab wireless utility, "network" Mode is set to "create a wireless network.  Is not this set to 'Extend wireless network A?'  As the airport utility is configured this way, I don't want to mess with it.  But because the router is in "Bridge" Mode, why the network Mode is not set to "Extend"?

    (2) using the application Explorer of WiFi on my Mac, I see two entries for my primary network, which I suppose is normal with my setup.  Sometimes these two networks is on the same channel and sometimes not.  Is how important it?  Should I put them aside from the same channel?  Or make them use separate channels?

    (3) I guess my configuration using Powerline adapters is better than wireless devices, but less to connecting directly by ethernet.  Is this correct?

Thanks in advance for the help!

However, looking at my AE settings in airport tab wireless utility, "network" Mode is set to "create a wireless network.  Is not this set to 'Extend wireless network A?'

N°... "Extend a wireless network" would be used only if the AirPort Extreme connected using a Wireless connection, and it's not. It connects using Ethernet.

Tip... whenever an Ethernet connection is established, an airport must be put in place to "create a wireless network.

Use the "Automatic" setting on the two airports and then forget.

    Fix.
