  Hello!  I just create a movie using Windows Movie Maker (HP Pavilion dv6000/Windows Vista Home Premium).  During the PREVIEW, the first part of the video of my film sometimes will not play (view) while the audio continues.   may need to convert the video to a compatible format like

  project in DV - AVI format to a folder on your hard drive and
  then import the file .avi in DVD Maker to create a DVD.

  A few quick thoughts on this:

  Have you tried your video playback to test after you created it? Also, if you were to test on a DVD player, check the disc on a PC first to see if it works.

  Also check if the audio track has been added to the timeline of the movie (video).

  Last but not least, experience using audio in a different format and recording your video in a different format.

  Please check the above before you write back to a disk.
