Files zip backup gave 'temp' defeats attribute set, backup software

Hello world

I do regular backups of my Lightroom Catalog. I also have my backup catalogue included in the backup of my system. However, when Lightroom creates a backup of the catalog, the zip 'temp' attribute is defined. It's quite understandable, some (including mine) backup software will ignore files with the attribute set temp for the Catalog backup is not saved. See the 'T' in the column 'Attributes' in the screenshot below:

Note that Windows displays normally all attributes. You must explicitly add the column for the display as shown above.

I use 10 Windows on a PC with the latest 64-bit LR. I consider that this is a bug in the LR backup. The backup files are not temporary! I'm posting here hoping that Adobe's technical team will recognize and correct this problem.

Thanks for reading,

Brian

  • Backup file Zip isent really a zip file.

    Hello

I just got a new pc :) Restored my old backup and all that's fine luckly Pentecost.

I tried to put my lightroom to perform backups again and he does, but on my old PC he did a single Zip file as backup. It's now 2 files. 1 name: catalog Lightroom

2 name: Lightroom Catalog.lrcat.zip.1049f7b8 the number after makes it so I can't unpack it. I can rename the file and unzip it but ther must be a way to just a zip file? He did it on my old pc.

Sorry for the English a little bit:)

    Marius

There is in fact no need to worry the ZIP file with the extra characters at the end. Just delete it. You also have a real copy of the catalog file. You can take this and run 7-Zip top to compress. Yes more work.

The problem is in your computer. Something in your computer, perhaps material, perhaps other software (such as a virus scanner), prevents the backup completes successfully. It is not LR by itself.

  • In the associated file zip file is missing. How to restore?

    Hello

My OS is Vista Home Premium SP2.

Recently, I confused a zip for a .rar file.  I changed the file association by default for zip to a rar program that I downloaded.  When I discovered my mistake I deleted the default rar to zip file program.  Subsequently every zip file I extracted gave rise to a simple white icon with the name of the file, and when you click on products a popup that read Windows could not open the file.  When I checked the associations to file again, I discovered .zfsendtotarget with a plain white icon and unknown Application as default file and no Zip file.

I found a Microsoft article in Google which offers the download file Association Fixer to fix the default value of the zip file.  After reboot everything was as it had been.  Another suggested article I'm doing a sfc/scannow high that would find and fix and Vista issues.  I did the scannow but he pointed out that he has not found any breach of integrity.

I hesitate a moment lost and to be honest to try something more because of my limited computer knowledge.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

You have no need to set the binding for 7-zip.

Once you have installed, right-click on a compressed file... 7-zip will be on the list from the context menu, click on it... Click on extract files... just follow the guests to complete the extraction.

    It's very simple. Try again.

  • Could not create the work file. Check the temp environment

After I did my Vista SP2 update, the only thing I could do was to reformat the HD. After all, including Office 2007 reloading, Outlook and work has worked well. variable. I am alos having other problems in Word. Help, I can't find all the answers!

Follow the steps below at our own risk.  Set a restore point before doing this. Make a mistake in the registry can have bad results

In your registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\User Shell Folders\Cache Database Cache data value must be %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Close all programs. Then in the registry editor, once you get in the folder above, right click on "Cache", make a left-click on "Change", paste in "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files" (without the quotes), on the left, click 'Ok' close the editor of the register. Restart the PC.

    This should solve your problem.

    a. start-> Run-> enter "regedit" and press "Enter" to run the program to change registry variables.

    b. navigate to the folder-> "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\User Shell Folders\Cache"

    c. check the values of variables [for everything in the "User Shell Folders" folder] - all the variable should have values from '% USERPROFILE%\ '. ». Any variable that is not of this starting point is probably damaged. In my case, all variables corrupt has been a correspondent of "Backup_VariableName". Example: my variable "cache" was damaged when there is a variable called 'backup_cache' with the correct values

    d. change the value of variables corrupt to correct the values. Example of change variable value "cache" in "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files" and so on.

    e. close all of Ms Office programs, and turn. The problem should be solved now.

  • CS6 - file zip on a DVD like OSI, or...

Win 7 - I downloaded the zipped CS6 file on the desktop.  I want to burn the file zipped on a DVD-R DL (double layer).  The DVD disc will be kept as a backup/reinstall drive, and I'll also install the app from the DVD to a 2nd pc that will use the app...

    1. in case the zip file be burned as an inspection on the SPOT, or simply as a file?

    2. is there something special about burning a disc double layer?

3 would be preferable to transfer the file compressed to 2nd pc and unpack or unzip of DVD to a folder on the hard drive?

    4. is there something special to watch the installation of CS6?

    Thank you.

    Hi [email protected],

CS6 downloaded files contains 2 files and one with the "7z" extension and the other an executable '.exe '.

The 7z file is a compressed file and the .exe file is an extractor used to extract compressed files and start the installation.

You can copy the two files to a flash drive or burn it to DVD for archival purposes.

In AR evous want to install it on a 2nd PC, copy the two files to the desktop, and then run the executable file (.exe) to start the installation.

Make sure that you have adequate permissions or by using an administrator account during the installation of the suite CS6.

  • Automator - how I got a file zip "with replacement"?

Automator - how I got a file zip "with replacement"?

I have an action that selects a folder - then creates archive in a chosen folder

Currently - it uses the name of the source folder, and then brings new archives every time as:

    My folder.zip

    my zip 1 file

    My 2 zip. folder

I wish there was only a single zip and the new version would ALWAYS OVERWRITE the old.

Q: How can I get what's going on?

or how to do that with applescript?

    Hello

In an Automator workflow, you can use this script in "run AppleScript" action.

    ----

on track {, parameters} - script for Automator

-create an archive in the parent folder, it uses the name of the folder, it overwrites one archive existing and returns the path of the archive

return fileZipper (item 1 of the entry) - entry is a list and it contains the path of the folder

    end of race

    on fileZipper (thisItem)

    tPath thisItem text value

If tPath ends by ":" and then

the value text delimiters oTid point

    the value point text delimiters {"": "}

tPath the text value 1 through the text element - tPath 2

the point text delimiters oTid value

    end if

zip (tPath & ".zip") the value as a text file

shell script "/ usr/bin/Ditto - c k - rsrc - keepParent" & (quoted in the form of tPath POSIX path) & "" & quoted form of POSIX zipFile path ".

return the zip as an alias file

    end fileZipper

    -----

This script create a new archive or overwrite an archive existing with the same name as the folder.

The destination is the parent of the selected folder.

If you want to move this archive to a specific folder, add "move Finder items" action after the action "Run the AppleScript.

  • What is the component of the ONECARE file backup? Is any other automatic backup software available?

OneCare security package included a function of automatic backup of files.  This feature is not in the latest Security Essentials package.  Is there another file automatic backup program available that would be able to interface with the files saved by OneCare?  I have no idea how to get back my backup files, or how the current backups.  My backups are on an external USB hard drive.

Windows Live OneCare has retired several years ago.

You can use the Windows backup utility, or one of the many 3rd party products.

Hi-Speed USB-CD-Burner can Memorex Ultra speed I store files of backup on it

    Hello Chris,

While there is no reason why you can't burn files to your CD burner for backup, most people use an external hard drive and backup Windows for this purpose.

The reason behind this, I think, is that CD can get scratches and become unreadable, while external hard drives are more resistant.

If the answer is "Yes you can", but there are other methods that others use.

Let us know if that helps.

  • How to find my compressed files [ZIP]

Reference Dell restored my laptop to factory - cannot find the compressed files [ZIP]

    Hello

    Where records have been saved?

A restore to factory wipe the hard clean throughout the process. The only option you have is to use a recovery program to recover files deleted from your hard drive. But I doubt if this will help. If the files were very important, then you can give it a try. Search using your favorite search engine to learn more about third-party data recovery programs.
