  I have a Satellite A80-127, its been 1.5 years... now. I have this fan makes a lot of noise... as if the rotor is gone. Neon else faced a similar problem? or is it normal to have this noisy turbine like noise...

  If not then maybe it s something wrong with the cooling module, for example: ball bearing.
  It of not impossible that cooling fans working wrong maybe it must be replaced.

  Hi Levooz,

  I agree with the user above. Normally the A80 was equipped with Toshiba Recovery disk that you can use to restore the factory settings. You must boot from that disk and follow the instructions on the screen.

  It is there no partition recovery or something like that for this laptop

  So, if you have n t drive recovery, to ask if authorized service provider they can order it for you. :)

  I recently bought an SA80 and sometimes use it to stream audio, but its volume seems to be quite low. I tried using all options available through volume control the volume.

  I've just updated Microsoft Office in my Toshiba Satellite A80, MS Office 97 to MS Office XP, and it is not working properly.

  The problem is that MS Word, Powerpoint, and Frontpage get suddenly closed as soon as I type anything. Excel and Access are working perfectly. I Don t understand that is the problem.

  Please find below some information on my laptop:

  This isn't a laptop problem, but certainly something wrong with your Microsoft software.
  In addition the Toshiba laptops are not delivered with Microsoft Office software.

  I think you should contact Microsoft technical support for more details.

  A hint; I recommend reinstall the MS Office XP again. Do not update from Office 97 to Office XP, but perform a new installation.

  I have a Satellite A80 127. I have a problem with my CD player.

  When I tried to upgrade my XP Home Edition of XP Pro SP2, display said the restart that he couldn't play in my CD player. During the inspection, I found that my CD/DVD drive is unable to read CDs if it can read the DVD. From what I remember, it was working fine a few days before.

  I tried to locate the source of the problem and with the option of troubleshooting, I found that I have a yellow exclamation mark against my SCSI/RAID host controller in my device (with error code 39) Manager.   I have a Satellite P200D-127 (part number: PSPBLE-02100LEN) which has a tired motherboard. I have a white screen when I turn on the laptop. All lights are on and I can hear the HDD spinning in life, but nothing on the screen. I have tried just about everything I can think of:

  External power supply tested - no problem
  HARD drive removed and put to the test - no problem
  Readability HDD tested - data
  Tested display - VGA screen attached to the laptop. Still no image
  Etc. of cables/connectors/motherboard tested memory for the creep of the component - reinstalled everything

  Then... Any idea where I can get a replacement for this laptop motherboard? I 'Google' Satellite P200D-127 replacement motherboard (and variations of!) and I don't seem to be able to find anything.

  You don't say what version of Windows Media Player you have. However, there will be a graphic equalizer option somewhere, but it can be well hidden.

  I recommend you to download the latest version from the Microsoft Web site.

  The graphic equalizer WMP V9 is available by clicking on an icon in the small window at the bottom left of the screen (if you move the pointer above it is called ' select now playing Options ") which gives a drop-down menu on which the third element is called IMPROVEMENTS. This will be expanded to show the graphic equalizer.

  Of course, you can use other software to read CDs. If you right-click on the CD-ROM item in your workstation
  you will be able to define which program you want to use to play CDs.

• Satellite A80-154: Questions on BIOS/cooling

  Dear Sir or Madam,

  I recently bought a Satellite A80 154 of the German retailer "Media Markt" for only EUR 1299,-.

  Although the general impression of the laptop is fine, I have two questions that make me think back to the seller. The questions are:

  (1) cooling system is too strong, in particular Linux, which is my main platform. However, the problem occurs on Windows, where I am able to slow down the CPU frequency (but not GPU) with an average success in terms of reduction of sound intensity.

  (2) bios of a laptop is by Phoenix and not Toshiba, which I expect to find (it's a big problem for me, since the Linux kernel for Toshiba laptops support is much better than that of Phoenix BIOS).

  Here are my questions:

  Toshiba selling different versions of the Satellite A80 154? (for example a good market with Phoenix bios and more expensive with a Toshiba bios and improved cooling). If they did, I would invest the additional EUR 300,- and buy one directly from Toshiba (if possible at all). I also ask, because I tried to update the Bios with version 1.70 - WIN (is this Toshiba BIOS?) from the BIOS download site unfortunately without success (he complains about the size of the bad bios).
  Is it possible to operate an A80-154 with BIOS Toshiba (and this would reduce the level of noise)?
