Firefox 33.0.1 crashes frequently on MacPro - didn't happen before the last update. How to fix?

Have you tried to start in safe mode (option double click) immediately crashes if I go on Apple.com. Tried to disable hardware acceleration, not good.

You are welcome

  • How to open search results in the same window in Firefox always done before the last update 22

Before the last update, on that I would do a search let say Google and when I found what I wanted and clicked on, that the window would turn to the result in this window, now it opens a new window. Another question is I noticed when I have gmail open in a window and open another window that result is displayed, and then switches to the original which was open, modified window and the new window is reduced in the bottom taskbar, and I come back to open it again. Whether measures should be taken, please list them.

Hi years.1, Flash is used by many sites to play videos and audio. It is also used by some sites for menu or the overall presentation systems. Some sites also use Flash to downloaders of files.

Firefox in general will let you know if a site needs a plugin to display all of the content, but you may also see a message on the site. These messages are not always specific to Flash, but can sometimes say that JavaScript is disabled or else referring to the problem.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

The only reason why I didn't completely Chrome switchd was the facility to change to a different search option. I could just click the dropdown in the search box and click the seardh option I wanted. Now, a new window opens where I have to click another menu dropdown to access my search options. It sucks! I want to go back to the previous version but don't know if it's possible. • Following the last update how to quit Firefox without blocking down

Type of computer: Mac BookPro Mac OS X 10.6.8 Version
I use the Mac Safari & Firefox browsers for blogs. Since yesterday when I downloaded the update to Mozilla Firefox, I am unable to exit Firefox at all (No button or tab to select an exit to get back to the office and Safire). To exit Firefox I have to press the button exit manual to restart the computer. I need a release of Firefox link to enter again the Safire browser and the desktop without closing the computer.

I use Windows, so I don't know, but could check you this:

If you click on the button '3-bar' menu of the main toolbar, when the Panel opens, there should be a button on the lower right corner of the menu to exit Firefox. Is it on Mac?

  • Since the last update, I now get the applications instead of the firefox icon icon

My icon of Firefox is now identical to the 'applications' of firefox icon, and the traditional firefox icon disappeared. This happened after the last update. This only happened on my laptop. I'm puzzled. What should I do?

    Hi betti1dl,

I've seen that happen periodically, but it is easy enough to fix. Simply remove the icon from your dock. Then re-create by dragging the Firefox icon in the doc from the applications folder.

    Hope this helps!

  • Firefox Initialise OK with latest update crashes, bu then always in short time (very reliable). When are you going to get rid of the last update?

Firefox last update allows you to initialize OK, but then in short time suddenly block it) whatever the operating mode, but immediately always when you use multiple windows). Obviously the last update has not been sufficiently tested. When will you update the update?

    Hello Thomas.

It is possible that you have a problem with some Add on Firefox which is an obstacle to the normal behavior of your Firefox. Have you tried to disable all add-ons (just to see) to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you must make sure that it is not caused by one (or more) of your installed modules, whether an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do this easily and cleanly, start Firefox in safe mode (remember to select disable all add-ons when you start safe mode). If the problem goes away, you know that it's an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode and allow them one by one until you find the source of the problem. See this article for more information on troubleshooting extensions and theme and this one for plugins.

If you need help with one of your modules, you will need to contact the author.

the advantage of this feature to scan https is at least questionable. in order to make it work, avast has sort of a man-in-the-middle 'attack' in order to access the contents of the encrypted connection (firefox supports a feature called pinning of key which can be used by Web sites to address these MITM attacks and who also seems to pick up interference from AVAST).
When you download files via a https connection, they will be analysed by the AV software once they land on your hard drive in any case. However, it should be the job of the Navigator to make it impossible to get infected by malicious software trying to surf around...

Edit: Please try to restart the browser once again, it may take a new session for the change to take effect.

  • After the last update of Firefox, youtube videos do not play. The answers I've found are not relevant or too complicated.

After the last update of Firefox, youtube videos do not play. The answers I've found are not relevant or too complicated.

Hi Cbella, YouTube is generally used with an HTML5 player, who is a player who does not use a plugin video in MP4 format (for example, it does not use the Flash plugin).

Now, I based this assertion on Windows, Mac may vary.

Could you do two tests for me?

    Test #1:

To verify which player you see (which does work), try a right click or Ctrl + click on the YouTube Player and check the "context menu" that rises. If it's the Flash, there will be a menu short, referring to the Flash on the last line. If you do not see that, if you get a regular menu of Firefox, it's probably the HTML5 player.

    Are what player you?

    Test #2:

If you open the following test page, which videos to play?

    http://www.quirksmode.org/HTML5/tests/video.html

    • The video "H.264/MP4" play?
    • The video "WebM" play?

    Thank you.

Also, you can check if your Flash plugin is up to date? You can use the site Mozilla Plugin check for this (please ignore the other plug-ins page wants you to update at the moment avoid making the situation more complicated):

    https://www.Mozilla.org/pluginCheck/

  • Cannot open google automatically when you click on the button new tab since the last update of Firefox.

I was able to do so until the last update... I spent through the process several times since, but without success... including adding the complete URL, etc.. The only suggestion so far is that 1 of my modules could be the cause, but I have still the same as before (they are edge Adblock, S3. Google Translator and yet another Smooth Scrolling)... it's frustrating!... and I'd love some help please... Thank you.

Hi, for reasons of security, 41 of Firefox, you must use an add-on like tab override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the page tab.

Once installed, open the Add-ons (Ctrl + Shift + A) Manager > Extensions, and then look for the new tab override and click Options to set your preference.

Note, if you want only the new tab to be the same as your home page, you can use the Add on new tab homepage instead.

You will then need to restart Firefox for all changes to take effect.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

You are right. Now, I have to solve other problems of this update the so-called.

  • After the last update on Wnidows 7 Firefox opens just a blank screen (black).

After the last update Firefox on a machine Wnidows 7, Firefox opens just a blank screen (black). It worked fine until the latest update. It does not open in "safe" mode I tried several facilities clean and using various other compatibility settings. I also tried various changes of display. Closing X is still under the black forest as I can by conjecture activate this.

Get a black screen after updating to Firefox 33 can be caused by a problem with hardware acceleration in Firefox.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver.

Try to start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the shift/Options key.

    Disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

    • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.

You will need to close and restart Firefox after enabling/disabling this setting.
