Firefox asked me to download a update?

I got a tab pops up telling me to update to Firefox. I closed the tab, and she appeared later upward.

I did not really him trust, but she appeared again. So I downloaded the 'Installer' requested, but it has not installed.

Then I went to the Home Page of Firefox, and it tells me that I am already using the latest Firefox... Version 26.0 and when I click Help - about Firefox - it tells me Firefox is updated. and I never installed the update I downloaded.

Download came NOT from mozilla.org, and so - do not trust her, I have not installed it... I even deleted the file to update my file download and the Emptied then the trash to get this program completely off my computer.

Is there some sort of virus out there, trying to deceive people by downloading an unnecessary update for Firefox, who's going to do God knows what on your computer?

Someone should be aware of this!

Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files must be updated.

DO NOT USE ONE OF THE LINKS PROVIDED.

If this can be a legitimate message, could also be a Virus or Malware.
No matter when you want or need to check updates.
Go to the website of the real owner of the program in question.
For example, for Firefox, go to Mozilla.org
or Firefox in any language.

  • In preferences, I chose to have Firefox ask me before you install updates - but rather Firefox installed updates without asking.

Earlier, I went back to my laptop to discover that Firefox had installed an update. The only option that gave me was to restart now or later. I checked my preferences, and I finally got them to have FF ask me before installing.

The window 'asking' what you want to do only awaits if long an answer until it times out (if I me remember when it happened, it waits 30 seconds) and then download them the update.

  • How do we stop it Firefox asking to update the password on the secondary registration pages?

Many sites Web uses a name of user and password and a 'secret question' sign in. Part II contains usually enter the answer a random question, as 'the mother maiden name. " 'place of birth' etc.

When this happens, Firefox asks if I want to update the password that it stores. I have obviously not because it will change my real password, and the answer will be different the next time in any case. This happens on all the signs in and there is no way I can tell Firefox not do; the only options are up to date or "not now".

I always feel like Firefox to remember the user principal name and the real password, so how do I prevent him from asking questions about these pseudo passwords without turning off the main connection details record?

Hello gheathen, enter Subject: authorizations in the address bar, locate the site in question and block its ability to store passwords (which should not affect the currently registered).

  • Firefox help-> about-> check for updates don't ask if I want to download the update

I just want to know if an update is available. I want to decide if I want to apply the update.

    Any way to do it?

Look for the updates appears in the window of Firefox when the automatic update for Firefox is disabled. No, when you click this button, it checks and automatically downloads the update, if available. No way to separate those that the way it was in versions prior to Firefox 4.

  • Firefox asked out of the blue if I want to download afr.php - what is it?

I forgot to take dumps of the document screen. AFR.php has been described as a text file and I thought I'd have a glance. However, firefox has warned it was a script, so I gave up the download. A hacker attack?

    > A hacker attack?

No doubt. I can't say how or why it happened, but that's what I think:

A malware has attempted to open a PHP script on your local system, and it seems you didn't have not a Web + PHP server install on your system, so that the script was not run, instead, Firefox is a file download and asked if you want to download it.

  • Because I downloaded the update of firefox I have more the firefox screen and will work not all of my favorites. Why?

After I downloaded the latest update firefox I knew he disappeared. The opening of the screen is no longer the fox logo. The area of search in the toolbar indicates that leads research. And I find that not all my favorites still work. Example-I have to go to att to access my e-mail. That's fine if that's the way it is supposed to work, but if so I would like to know how to change my home screen - or at least the first thing I see when firefox opens on the site of att that I usually use my computer for e-mail. I'm also used to use google search and I'm an old lady of cat crazy I'm not really ready to change the way that I am familiar with my computer.
Ideally, I get photo fox with the google search screen and click on the marked bookmark mail back on my computer?
I'm not computer unless it is as it always has. Thank you, dawn

Hello dawn, please be aware that there are malicious sites that will trigger the update of fake reviews/popups that try to get you wrong download software bundled with adware. never click on such websites or run these files offer - updates are managed automatically by firefox and do not download any file to it (always manually, you can check if you're up-to-date by going to firefox > help > about firefox).

Please try these steps to find your firefox:

    1. Reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
    2. then go to firefox > addons > extensions and where there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
    3. go to the windows control panel and remove all installed software recently where you don't know what he has or other suspicious looks.
    4. Finally, run a full scan of your system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to ensure that adware is not present in other parts of your system as well.

  • After you download the update of Firefox 25.0.1 Firefox does not open. Help! Thank you!

I downloaded the update for 25.0.1 and he ran. Instead of restarting, I stop the laptop (Vista Home SP2, 64-bit).
When I started the laptop again, I tried to open Firefox, but Norton Internet Security leader Insight could not check the update as a reliable file and did not allow for Firefox open.
I tried to disable file Insight but got the same results.
I ran Live Update to update Norton Internet Security and then tried to open Firefox again.
This time this Norton Internet Security displays a message saying that updater.exe wasn't careful and eliminated.
When I try to open Firefox, Norton now detects Updater 25.0.0.5046, said he trusted, but Firefox does not open.
I want to save the history if possible.
How can I get Firefox to work with recorded history again?
    Thank you!

Hi iamjayakumars - I was not able to create a new profile, because the Profile Manager does not open. A message from Norton seems "Updater.exe is sure.", but nothing else would happen.
But - the links you sent were very helpful, and I was able to solve the problem by making a UN-installing and then re - install Firefox:
    1. backup of the profile.
    2. download the installer of Firefox from Mozilla.org with another browser.
    3. un-install Firefox from the control panel (ensuring "Delete my personal Firefox and customizations data" was NOT selected.)
    4 reinstall Firefox.
Firefox starts successfully with all my old settings and all the tabs I had open the last time it was used appeared as I had hoped.
Thanks a lot for your help!

  • Downloaded the update for Firefox, and now I can't get rid of AOL.

Downloaded the update for Firefox, and now I can't get rid of AOL. I tried to remove anything that is related to AOL and when restart Firefox... There are once again AOL. I even reinstalled Firefox... He was there again.

Where AOL is displayed - homepage?

I think the first thing to check is if you have any modules related to AOL. These can replace your regular settings. You can view and disable all extensions essential or unknown here:

Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > addons > Extensions category

Note that in most cases, you should use the link to restart Firefox to actually disable the extension that you have chosen to disable.

Then, to fix your homepage, try the procedure described in this article: How to set the home page.

If there is a problem with your suppliers of research from Google for AOL, try this extension:

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/SearchReset/

Firefox is always kept open on my PC. When I have an update of the program, I accept that but then Internet Explorer opens for me to download the update. It would normally usually Firefox. Why opens Internet Explorer and not open in Firefox as per normal?

Which depends on the program involved. Some programs will use the default browser , that the user has defined in preferences, while others will use the browser that comes with the operating system. IE in the case of Safari on Mac and Windows.

You have Firefox set as default browser in Vista?
