Firefox Sync is disconnected after booting

After upgrading to Firefox Sync 1.4, Sync does not automatically connect (or synchronize later) after the launch. This doesn't seem to be a problem of less than 1.3. I do not save passwords or a master password. Only passwords in my FF password mgr are for synchronization (login + encryption).

This has happened

Each time Firefox opened

== I switched to Firefox Sync 1.4

Firefox Sync 1.4.1 seems to fix the problem.

  • Firefox Sync lost all my data after 3 months of inactivity. Can I fix this?

Is this normal for Firefox Sync wipe data after a period of inactivity? Account.Services.Mozilla.org said that I use 158 KB of data. This sounds like the amount of data that a fresh firefox profile would be download Sync, or is it perhaps even my data?

Is it possible to access the logs? There is nothing in my profile weaves/logs directory.

    Hi dismayy,
There is a new synchronization service that was introduced in version 29. Accounts.Firefox.com is the place to sign in. sync your bookmarks from Firefox, history, passwords, etc.

However, to access the logs are the same. With respect to the loss of data, please make a local backup to back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox

    • How can I activate synchronization logs:
    1. Talk openly about: config and turn on: services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess and services.sync.log.logger.engine.bookmarks
    2. Restart Firefox and look: subject: sync-log
    3. Logs and error messages are placed here

Please use pastebin.mozilla.org for sharring all errors that relate to this issue.

  • How to connect to the firefox sync through sync key?

    Hello.
Prior to re - install Windows, I saved my Firefox Sync key.
After installing windows, I can't to access my firefox sync account for my favorites! It is said: unknown account, register!
But I have a KEY, I need my favorites back!

Help me, please, to the recovery of my favorites back!
    Thank you.

You must use a very old version of Firefox if this version has always used a separate key for synchronization.
29 Firefox and later no longer use a specific key synchronization, but derive the key to the synchronization of the password of the Firefox account that you use to sign in to this account.

You need a version of Firefox 28 to connect to an old account of synchronization that uses the key of the synchronization.

  • When will there be a version of Firefox sync 9.0.1 firefox?

I did a few Ubuntu updates today and now my Firefox sync is broken after 9.0.1 firefox is installed by saying that firefox adds synchronization is not compatible. I edit and synchronize bookmarks a lot. If it will not be an update version of sync soon. He is training to return to the previous version of firefox?

Synchronization is a standard feature of Firefox, from the version of Firefox 4.0.

It was only this add-on for Firefox 3.5 and 3.6.

  • Firefox sync forget me each session

Whenever I run Firefox, Sync has disconnected from me and I have to re-setup Sync for it to start my sync data. When I forgot to do so, I get to my other machine to find that my favorites are not synchronized. My settings dictate that almost everything is disabled (history, passwords, etc.) whenever I close the browser, but I don't think that my connection sync would be part of this (and maybe the problem has nothing to do with it). This happens on several computers desktop, Mac and PC, who share all the same strictly "clear memory" settings every time FF is closed.

    Try:

  • Firefox Sync synchronize after reinstalling windows.

Afret reinstall I loged in Firefox sync and started to wait for the synchronization. Nothing happened. I tried once or twice, restart firefox, and sync still doesn't work. I decided to reinstall firefox with removing profile folder. After that, I loged in F sync and it downloaded history and etc., I created a few minutes ago. I don't understand why it won't download my latest profile news.

The previous answer is outdated information. The 'sync key' (aka recovery key) last used in Firefox 28 with the earlier version of Sync. 29 Firefox and later versions (with Sync 1.5) can an implementation of the 'key' that the user never sees, which is created from the selected password. As mentioned above, if you change the password data in the synchronization server are wiped to allow you to continue using this account with a new password and to prevent your access data by an unauthorized person.

In addition, you use Sync in a way that was not intended. Sync to synchronize the data of Firefox across multiple devices, not as a backup media for a device, as it looks like you were trying to use.

  • Cannot use my old firefox sync account after reinstalling

After reinstalling firefox I can't use my old Firefox Sync account. I am told that there is no such account here https://accounts.firefox.com and I created a new account with the same email as my old account.

After some research, I found this https://account.services.mozilla.com/ which I can connect with my old account.

Now, my problem is that I want to retrieve the information I had in my old sync and I can't find a way to do it.

In addition, because I lived the problems of severe performance using firefox, I deleted some files in my machine with Firefox (after uninstalling) including what appeared to be the location of the profile for firefox.

What is really important to me is: how to recover my old Firefox Sync account data or synchronize it with the new Mozilla account?

    Thank you
    V

Hello, firefox 29 and up is using a different synchronization system which is not compatible with the establishment of accounts in the old versions.

in this case, you'd probably have to use a workaround and download the version of firefox before 28, turn off the automatic update for the moment (in options > advanced > update), bind it to the old sync account (with user name, password & recovery key) and upgraded after you successfully restore your data in this way...

Install an older version of Firefox
Synchronize your bookmarks Firefox, history, passwords, etc.

Try typing the key to recovery without 5 dashes.

  • After having successfully imported the My Favorites in Firefox Sync from my old computer to new computer, can I purge the old computer and still have the bookmarks on the new

I want to update my computer and made a Windows Easy Transfer to my new. My Firefox Favorites do not show on my new computer so I used Firefox Sync, which worked well. Now that I have the bookmarks on the new computer, I can delete the old computer and keep the bookmarks on the new.

First, unplug your old computer of Firefox Sync, so you do not accidentally delete data synchronization, but yes, you should be good to go.

  • a few missing bookmarks on mobile device after firefox sync

I have 12 of Firefox installed on my iMac, running Mac OS x 10.6.8. I successfully setup my Firefox sync and tied both my 3rd gen iPad and iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1 s. In addition to the process of synchronization still holding, I also noticed that a few bookmarks are missing on my devices. I tried to re-synchronization and the fact of separate devices and reissue of links and I even deleted, recreated and resynced my account but the problem persists. Is be the same missing bookmarks on both devices. What do you advise?

    Hello!

Firefox Home is just a client of Firefox Sync and download any changes to servers so it is unlikely that this process has affected bookmarks, preferences, or the history in your computer. If this is the case, you can accidentally delete this bookmark or there is an add-on of messing with them

If, however, you MENTION is that your iPhone / iPad lack both the same bookmark, it is possible that an individual has not been uploaded to the server again. Allow your computer to extra time to connect to our servers you open (this process happens in the background) so everything can be pushed to the server, then to your phone.

    I hope this can help,
    Ibai

  • My Firefox synced the 'wrong way' and I need to recover my favorites.

Wednesday, I opened Firefox on my computer WORK (PC) after a long hiatus and he recommended I update Firefox since I hadn't used in a while. He said he would preserve all my bookmarks, etc.. Did, everything was fine.

Yesterday I logged Firefox on my computer (Mac) and then a minute later my bookmarks toolbar very detailed began to change and missing tons of bookmarks and seems completely / different disorganized. I myself am connected on Firefox sync hoping this would look again my WORK computer, but it did not.

Today, I'm back on my WORK computer. I logged in sync since I assume that the Wednesday update disconnected me. And now my WORK computer resembles the same mess as my HOME computer bookmark. I wanted to sync the reverse - make my look of HOME computer as my WORK computer!

How can I recover my favorites and that to happen?
    Thank you!

You can disconnect Sync and restore bookmarks from a backup in the folder bookmarkbackups.

    • Bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > restore
  • Firefox sync fails to connect to the server.

Firefox sync has not worked on my laptop for the last days. It fails with the error
"Unable to connect to the server. Synchronize automatically retrying this action. »
Sync works fine on my Android device on the same network. I tried to disconnect and reconnect my sync account and also tried to synchronize in safe mode without success. The error in the synchronization log report: https://pastebin.mozilla.org/8834320.
About: config the services.sync.clusterURL is not set. services.sync.tokenServerURI has the value default 'https://token.services.mozilla.com/1.0/sync/1.5'.

Understand the problem. I had activated FIPS compliance on my software security device. Apparently, WeaveCrypto used by sync is not FIPS compatible. I disabled FIPS now and sync works fine. Bug report: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443386

  • Why Firefox Sync does not work on my home network, but at work?

Firefox Sync on my laptop does not work when my laptop is connected to my home network, but for example if I'm at my desk.

The internet connection in my house is fine, I can surf the web with this same Firefox on IPv4 and IPv6, DNS etc. also works. Connection to accounts.firefox.com works also, as Firefox for the sync account. Only the synchronization process runs aground. On my desktop at home, I have exactly the same problems. When I open https://sync-209-us-west-2.sync.services.mozilla.com/ in a browser tab, I see a confirmation message that synchronization runs on this server, so apparently the network path between my computer and this server is free.

After investigation with Wireshark, I see the TLS negotiation successfully, then packages the client was able to respond and after some time, the server closes the connection (encrypted alert). Apparently, no content is transferred between the client and the server. I have attached a screenshot of how Wireshark sees the conversation between the server and the client (sending pictures here did not work so I put on the web: http://ibin.co/1zXABHKdj5mA).

To exclude a possible configuration problem or bad module, I created a clean Firefox profile and logged into my account in Firefox, but this shows exactly the same problems.

Fun fact: Firefox on my Android phone will sync on my home network.

Below, I will link two logs, a successful synchronization (corporate network) and a synchronization failed (home network):
    Sync @ Office: http://pastebin.com/rZmfrbdL
    Sync @ home: http://pastebin.com/a3KUCevJ

The problem seems to be with your ISP - you can refer to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1118958 and they may be able to find a workaround by changing your diet or to help you configure a different MTU for the network.

    I hope this helps.
