Flash Player XP - SP3, IE7/8, blinker/refresh?

I have a weird problem. I have a computer on which as long as javascript is enabled and the Adobe Flash Player 10 plugin is running, no mouse over on an HTML page causes the entire page to redraw.

It only happens in IE7/8, FireFox or Safari.
I reloaded the video driver and tried another mouse and it didn't fix it.
I scanned for viruses and spyware and it didn't fix it.

What would make any mouseover event redraw all Flash on a page, and you mind, these are the same pages I can display anywhere on your average computer and have no problem. It is not a question of development.

If you disable javascript, it stops.
If you turn off the Flash, it stops.
If you disable the two stops.

Thank you...

The final resolution was to uninstall DirectX from the system and reinstall. The way to do this was not simple.

Having said that I managed to keep the Service Pack 3 in place and operate.

  • Flash Player 10 fails to install on WinXP SP3

WinXP SP3 with IE7. Use the tool correctly uninstalled and uninstall the previous version of the flash player. Now, when I try to install the current version of the flash player 10.0.12.36, it makes on the screen "when you see the full movie of the installation..." "but the film comes and flash player is never installed. The software McAffee anti-virus is disabled, pop ups allowed, cookies enabled, and the firewall is disabled. Need help on getting this facility.

    2. use the utility to uninstall with the /Clean. option
    3. restart the computer. Disable the antivirus software.

  • Flash player not working not not in IE7

I know not why this is happening, but recently the flash player stopped woring with some examples of flash content, but not others. For example, I can't view flash on the Adobe.com site, but if I go to the home page Adobe Studio flash content works very well. I have no idea what is causing this problem or where to start fixing it. I can't even view the Flash Player settings advanced, as they require flash. Someone else in trouble like that with IE7?

Upgrading to IE 7 sometimes seems to be somewhat problematic. I have just been there and couldn't see any substance Flash of some sites, but I got the Flash Player 9 installed. Here's what worked for me:

Uninstall Flash Player from this link (do not use the features of Windows, uninstall)

    http://www.Adobe.com/go/tn_14157_fr

Then return to the Adobe homepage and install Flash Player.

It looks like the Adobe homepage and Adobe Studio 8 pages can use different systems of detection of Flash Player. It is interesting that one page is FP with IE7 and the other does not work!

  • Flash Player 10.1 very slow

We organize several HP Elite 8000 with chipset Intel G45/G43 Express under Windows XP SP3. As soon as upgrade us Adobe Flash Player for videos of version 10.1 are played very slowly. It doesn't matter if we use IE7 or IE8.

We manage the latest graphics and chipset drivers. BIOS has been updated also. Hardware acceleration of Flash has been disabled without any change of behavior. Windows updates are up to date.

All older versions of Flash Player work fine.

Is this a known issue? Are there solutions?

  • No Flash Player on Firefox 39.0 or IE 11.0.9600.17914 noise

Hi guys, I have a weird problem, I can not solve, and I hope that someone can help you:

My sound works fine in all applications: I have perfect sound, watch videos from YouTube on Firefox, but I can't not all sounds if I watch Flash Player videos or listen to the Radio Stations that use Flash Player using 39.0 Firefox or IE 11.0.9600.17914. I really dislike because IE my default browser is Firefox and my secondary browser is Chrome, however I think it is important information for troubleshooting purposes.

I've updated my Flash Player to the latest version: 18,0,0,209 and I have followed all of the steps proposed in this page, except the number 5 as my Antivirus does not and I'm not comfortable installing Codec Tweak Tool: http://www.codecguide.com/fix_for_flash_sound_problems.htm

And before anyone asks: Yep, I checked my Sound Mixer and Firefox is not cut, in fact I am posting to a station of Radio Switzerland on Firefox as I write this, of course, they use FlashPlayer.

OMG, I wish just that FlashPlayer would be dead now, and everyone should be using HTML5.

Okay, I just solved the problem by doing something I should have done at the outset: Refresh / Reset Firefox.

    Instructions are available here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings

If all goes well it will still works after I have reload all my Add-ons.

Thanks for trying to help me.

    Cheers.

  • How to enable flash player on firefox to always turn on by default

So, while browsing the internet and watching flash videos became unresponsive and I stopped and sent the accident report. When I refreshed the videos to buffer again, I was invited to allow flash (Shockwave Player) to run. I never changed this setting to ask to activate before and I did it for me without my consent. When I tried to change that setting back always activate, the option is greyed out so I am not in a position to actually chose this option and continue my day. I'd not have to deal with this, because in my school, flash is heavily used and this has become a very big trouble that I would have corrected. Otherwise I will be forced to stop using Firefox, because it's too much an extra to have hassle to deal with. Also when updated to the latest version of flash player it does not correct the problem.

Due to a vulnerability declared in the current version of Adobe (https://helpx.adobe.com/security/prod.../apsa15-04.html), Mozilla has soft-blocked the latest version of the Shockwave Flash plugin. Therefore, you must enable on trusted sites to use instead of being able to set Firefox to allow all sites use Flash automatically.

If you are not accustomed to using the "Request to activate" feature a plugin, here's what to expect:

When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification in the address bar icon and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an information bar slides between the toolbar and in the page area.

If you see a good reason to use Flash, and the site looks trustworthy, you can go ahead and click on the Lego-like icon in the address bar to allow Flash. Your choice: for a current or permanent use.

But the page might be using Flash only followed or playing a video ad. If you do not see an immediate need for Flash, feel free to ignore the notification, it will just sit there in case you want later.

  • I have Windows 7, Adobe Flash Player 16.0.0.305 NPAPI and Adobe Flash Player ActiveX 13.0.0.214. Should I have them both?

On Facebook, the videos are choppy, Adobe Flash player 16.0.0.305 crashes. Issue of intermittent latency when scrolling on web pages. Use memory and CPU high when the shift occurs. I'll upgrade to Adobe Flashplayer 17. I'm especially curious to know if I need Adobe Flash Player NPAPI 16.0.0.305 both Adobe Flash Player ActiveX 13.0.0.214. They perform the same function? Having both installed would be my problem?

You must uninstall both of them and install the latest version of Flash, 17. https://get.Adobe.com/flashplayer/download/?installer=FP_17_for_Firefox_-_NPAPI & standalone = 1

To try a few more things that could improve your performance:

  • FireFox hangs with Adobe Flash Player

I use Firefox 35.0.1 and I've installed Shockwave Flash 16.0.0.296. As soon as Flash starts, Firefox freezes and thaws until it can not be used at all. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the flash player and I have also used Firefox refresh option. This problem started a couple of days and I don't know what I can do.

UPDATE 2: Now Flash Player does not work on some sites, & when it does not work, it does not freeze FF. I have uninstall Opera before that then maybe the software had something to do with the problem?

  • Why are there now TWO Adobe Flash Player required to view all of the Web sites: v11.9.900 and v12.0.0.43?

I had Adobe Flash Player v.11.9.900.170 and upgraded to v.12.0.0.43. When I checked the Add-ons Manager, both versions of Flash were listed and active. I disabled the earlier version, and now indicate a few sites I don't have Flash. When I re-activated the old version, the video has played very well. So what's the problem with it is necessary to have TWO versions of Flash Player installed, the current one AND a previous one? Seems hinkey...

@cor-el: the previous version seemed to disappear of itself, about 12 hours later. I checked the topic: plugins page (along with the Add/Remove Programs), and only the latest version of Flash is not installed. I have already refreshed the pluginreg.dat file.

There always at least a web page that asks for the installation of Flash Player, but it works very well on almost all other Web sites.

  • I uninstalled flash player and impossible to reinstall

I had problems reading of streaming videos and decided to uninstall and reinstall flash player. I am running XP SP3, so I used the Add/Remove programs and uninstalled. Now, I can not re - install. I passed on the adobe site (http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) and chose to install the drive via Firefox, but it failed and proposed a manual installation. Clicking on this link puts me on the adobe site, but by selecting the download button sends me to a page of advertising for other adobe products and no download occurs. I ran Internet Explore to see if I could download the file and Firefox recognize, but while it shows 'Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX"in the list of installed programs, Firefox doesn't know any difference. Any suggestions?

A virus does not appear to be the problem. I have not been able to install from the adobe web site, but I did a search for the executable flash player downloaded and executed directly. This approach was implemented to me. Thanks for the help.
