  • Windows vista not install updates, how can I solve this problem

I took my computer compaq running on windows vista & my windows updates will not install what can I do?

I have been working on this since April too and may not know how to solve this problem.  Last update was in March.  I used the MicrosoftFixit.wu.MATSKB.Run with no luck.  He says that he can not solve the problem and leads to a MS web page, which doesn't help.   I also stop the update services and several DLLs and then restarted them without success, according to a website of windows troubleshooting.  I am not prepared to roll back, nor do I want to reload the operating system.  If I do that, I'm going to Linux.

  • Just installed vista hangs if it remains unused to long, how can I solve this

I had to replace a hard drive that crashed with a new one.  So I used the dell reboot disk and all is well.  I did all the updates and loaded all my old stuff and all the drivers for the computer as well. Everything is great, but if I put the computer in standby mode, it will get a striped vertically bunch of lines on the desktop and there is no access to anything at this point.

I have to press start to stop computer button so I can restart.  Had no chance to do all the things I can think.  I can restore because it's a brand new hard drive.

I; m thinking it of a vista issue and may just try to re - install vista on again once.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.  I even tried the fix program that Microsoft is free and it found no problem.

    Thank you

  • After reinstall Window Vista 32 bit, I can't move the slider to increase the resolution of the screen, how do I solve this problem

My Dell Inspiron 530 sudenlly crashed, I could not start it. I called for the support of a group that I paid for. Technicians helped me start the PC, but they could not fix the screen resolution: in the display settings window, the cursor is on the left end of the bar, the low position and could not be moved. The technician finally asked me to save the folders files and reinstall Windows Vista. After the relocation, the screen resolution problem persisted. Technicians then reformat the HD, then reinstall Windows Vista again, the result was the same. We cannot change the resolution. Help, please.

  • my external hard drive is no longer appears on vista after using it on a mac, how can I solve this problem?

I tried to update my drivers and everything suggested on the website of the manufacturer of the hard disk

    Hello

Check if the drive is detected in disk management. If it is detected, and then assign it a drive letter and check if this solves the problem.

NOTE: first back up all the data on the external hard drive.

To open disk management, follow these steps:
    a. click on the ORB start.
    b. Type diskmgmt.msc and press ENTER.
Check if you can see the drive.

Refer to this article for more information on how to assign a drive letter to a drive.

  • The upgrade of my hardware invalidate my installation of Windows Vista? How can I solve this problem?

I recently started to get the message "this copy of Windows is not genuine", which is a little disconcerting for me. I have recently (April 20, to be exact) installed Service Pack 2 and I also recently installed new hardware, but everything worked without problem until today. Let me include some details on my system, and also what items of equipment have been replaced:

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit)
Recently replaced hardware: motherboard, RAM, processor, power supply, chassis

As stated, things were aired as easily as they always until today, when I noticed that my office is transformed to a solid black color instead of the wallpaper I had already. Then I noticed an icon in the system tray indicating that I could click it to activate my copy of Windows; When you click on it, I gives me the message "the product key of Windows Vista Edition Family Premium you typed is invalid for activation."  I've been running this copy of Windows for four and a half, and it has been installed on the PC that I bought directly from Dell, so I know that it is a legitimate copy. As my Dell OEM chassis has been replaced by a generic box (the new motherboard did fit properly into the exclusive Dell chassis), I do not have the sticker with the information of Windows, so I can't post it. I'll post the MGA information below; any additional necessary information is available, but I don't know what else could be required to post.

Well, it's a disappointment. If this is the case, it would be possible to purchase a license upgrade to Windows 7, or should I get a full version? I prefer to get the version if possible upgrade from $80 it's cheaper. Cancellation of my driver's license means that it is no longer an option?

"I suggest you buy a Windows 7 license, that Vista is no longer sold."

As I recommended you it to my 1st answer you need to buy a Windows 7 license.

And the reason is that you now don't have a Windows license to upgrade qualification, as your Vista license is void for the reasons I have already explained to you in my previous to this topic answers...

And before you buy a license of Windows 7, follow these steps to check if your hardware and software is Compatible Windows 7.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=20

Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:

    "Windows 7 system requirements"

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/system-requirements

"Windows 7 Compatibility Center" for software and hardware:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

And the Microsoft Store where you can get an idea of the price of Windows 7:
