FN + brightness does not not on windows 8.1 on M6600

Hello. Thanks for any suggestion or you can provide advice.

I have been using Windows 7 on M6600 for awhile. He has mainly worked not to mention that I was becoming "Nvidia Kernel Mode Driver stopped responding and recovered the question" sometimes and I had no other choice to restart to make it work again, it's for a while...

When windows 8.1 became available through business, I put a hand on her and decided to reinstall fees.

I backed up all my data and destroyed Windows and recovery partitions, leaving the dell system partition.

8.1 Windows Installer has been surprisingly fast, 15 min. As soon as I started, I installed driver chipset Dell video drivers and other drivers. All entries in Device Manager have been without warning, some drivers have been found and some I installed on Dell site. I installed most critical programs and everything was cool and functional. NVIDIA video driver crash seems to be gone too. I have 2 other machines windows 8 so my experience windows 8 was there and I'm very happy with everything in windows 8.1

Then finally, I noticed that the brightness of the LCD screen is not working. I made sure that I had driver Dell Intell HD 3000, driver Nvidia from Dell and Dell installed feature pack. I tried with the feature pack of Dell and without it.

I have studied this topic, found another reference to Windows 8 having the same problem. I have 3 monitors and are they running Optimus. This worked great in windows 7.

Some posts suggest that it is essential to install the drivers in the order. I started to doubt my installation process, if I missed something. I created the image of the system what I did rebuild in windows 8.1 and complete clean reinstall. When windows 8.1 came, I was always checking brightness. I worked very well with the native control windows 8.1. It was light and moved up and down, brightness adjustment. I immediately installed the driver chipset, rebooted, noticed that windows installed sound driver Intel HD 3000 generic in the background (which broke the brightness) and right on the top, installed DELL Intel latest driver and restarted; brightness adjustment still divided. All this according to Dell reinstall guides. As soon as windows are HD 3000 and installed the driver, fn + brightness has stopped working. so no matter the other drivers, driver Intel he kills and driver video dell Intel does not restore the brightness setting.

I tried again. Format the partition and 15 minutes later, repeat of history. As Intel video driver is installed, the control function kills and Dell Intel driver(Win7-8_64_15.28.14_3040_Dell_setup_ZPE) does not restore it.

So I restored windows 8.1 recorded image to get my first windows 8.1 rebuild. BTW, those who install 8.1 have no need to use (DDPA_Setup_TDC1K_A06_64bits_ZPE) security software Dell, windows 8.1 supports fingerprint scanner by default. just set it up. It works very well. 8.1 is very catchy in my laptop and I like him. I boot on the desktop (do not use 8 Start, which I use on win 8 machines) and the MS splash screen is an OK compromise in my opinion.

This question has nothing to with the installation of sequence here. by me, Chipset and video drivers are installed in the correct order.

I can control the brightness going in and using the BIOS. but it's an ugly way. I can control the brightness while boots windows 8.1, which is fast enough on M6600 with disc DDD, but necessary and it is difficult to judge the brightness right here.

Some have suggested that it is thanks to Optimus. I need, I have to use 3 monitors and sometimes travel. and it worked fine in Windows 7.

Anyone of you have any idea what I can do? Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

PSI found the following reference http://adrynalyne.blogspot.ca/2012/10/fix-brightness-control-for-windows-8.html which seems to suggest that there might be question of deployment.

My install Windows with driver Dell Intel 8.1 shows "FeatureTestControl" = dword:0000f960 currently.

Could someone post what their Windows 7 for FeatureTestControl registry value uses the last Dell Windows 7 Intel driver, please?

SOLVED. By installing the driver the most recent HD3000 from Intel, then create a HD3000Fix.Reg file with these entries, open the file or apply to Windows RegEdit (be careful as usual), then restart:-Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\ {4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} \0000] "FeatureTestControl" = dword:0000ffff [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\ {4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} \0001] "FeatureTestControl" = dword:0000ffff [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\intelkmd] "FeatureTestControl" = dword:0000ffff - I use this for two years for every time Intel updates the HD3000 drivers and it works well for Windows 8.0 and 8.1 of Windows on two different PCs, including the 6600 with video Intel HD3000 precision. Hope this helps others... 64Dude

He was not on the charger when I did so I was in a dark room I had the brightness down. Later in the day, I plugged it in to charge and I went to make it brighter. The brightness does not change however. All other agents Fn + F keys work. But not both for brightness. The strange thing is, I shut down the computer, whereas standby mode, then opens it again and it was really brilliant and I had to almost squint, but once again the keys did not work to lower it. I closed it and opened it and it is even lower. The keys still don't work. Any suggestions?

  • Computer does not load Windows after reset after installing HP-J6413

Bought J6413 all-in-one; the software that is installed according to the instructions on the CD.  Attempted to restart after the installation, the computer hangs upward after shooting intself on and display the logo of the motherboard, does not load Windows.

Printer is off, did reset, everything was fine, Windows loaded etc.  Repeat the action and came to the conclusion that the power of the computer with the printer off left (it's a fax machine, it should be all the time) or even reset the onboard computer after, say, install new software, prevents the loading of Windows on them turn on the computer.

Only possible mode of operation is to put off the printer, then turn off the computer, then turn on printer to serve fax standby and then do the same set of operations before turning to new computer.

Please refer to the manuals that you received for your PC and disable the "USB Émulation" and "USB devices starting" the BIOS settings.

my computer with windows broken and now my new computer does not have windows, is it possible to get windows on my new computer from my old?

    Hello

You tell us what type of license you have.

If the former was preinstalled, NO, you cannot transfer it.

    Read this information:

If the laptop came with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.), this product key supplied with the laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) is related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when dies of this machine.

The above applies also to OEM system builders licenses.

License of operating system in detail, that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

I recently downloaded windows 8 and does not receive windows updates.  This does not prevent my installation things like itunes!  I've tried everything I can think of, but nothing seems to work.  Anyone know why?  I disabled the firewall, I tried windows update diagnosis, research on windows update for updates and does not display anything, I tried virus checking.  I am at a loss and is about to throw the computer and get a woman in the place!

      1. Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak
      2. Ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
    5. (Note: shortcut keys do not work in the Windows command prompt, please use right click to paste these codes.)
    6. Restart the Services. Type the following commands and press on enter after each line:
      1. net start bits
