Fonts Zapf Dingbats corrupted on the new laptop

I move to a new laptop. My old laptop had Windows XP SP 2, 8.0p277 of FrameMaker and Acrobat Distiller 8. I had 2 fonts Zapf Dingbats, which worked fine on my old laptop (ZapfDinbats and ZapfDingbatsStd [OpenType]). However, on my new laptop, when I try to install the version of .pfm of ZapfDingbats Zapf Dingbats, I get an error of corrupt police. The new laptop has following applications: Windows XP SP 3, FrameMaker 8.0p277 and Distiller 8.0. Other people in my team have downloaded and installed this file without any problem. I did some reading on the Forum about this. But I have not yet found a solution to my problem. Could someone help me please? Someone said a parameter without any detail of the bios. I wonder if I need to do something like that here.

It is possible that your new laptop has a Nvidia graphics card? A Google search for "" XP SP3' of postscript fonts"reveals solutions like this:

-------

Open the Registry Editor (START, RUN and type regedit and click OK)
Navigate to the following key - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\SessionManager\MemoryManagement
Add a new REG_DWORD value - change the name of the value for SessionImageSize value (decimal) 20 and then restart the machine.

-------

Found in a German Windows related forum, where the thread describes exactly your problems (solution comes from DELL). Maybe it's worth a try.

Edit: Here's a blog in English which gives the same solution (scroll to the end of the page):

    Are purchases on the iTunes store in France? You must be in a country to use his shop (including redownloading), which is part of the plan of the store, so while you are in France, you can only use the Bank of France (and potentially to re-download your purchases Bank of France). You can redownload will show in the purchase link under quick links on the right side of the home page of the iTunes music store (assuming you have not hidden their cloud, and if they are still in the store).

  • What version of Firefox options do I have to use Firefox on the new laptop running Win 7 64 bit, and how do I move bookmarks current laptop running Firefox 3.5.13 again laptop?

    Currently running on the laptop using Windows XP pro sp3 Firefox 3.5.13 and want to move my favorites to a new laptop. New laptop using Win 7 pro 64 - bit OS. I've read too many conflicting reports on Firefox and Win 7 and Firefox works on a real 64 - bit version. What are my choices for a stable browser for the new laptop and what specific version of Firefox is recommended, and the advantages and disadvantages of this suggestion? (I think we can run Firefox 32-bit version in the 64-bit environment, but which is the best choice?) I have not installed Firefox on the new laptop yet and am eager to dump IE. It is displayed for my old laptop. Thank you...

    Mozilla working on a 64-bit version of Firefox, but it's a way off. Currently, the only release versions are 32-bit, and the next major version will be also only 32 bits.

    I recommend that you install the latest version of publication (3.6.10) available since http://www.mozilla.com/

  • Installation upgrade memory in the new laptop (E8730w)

    I just got my new laptop and was dismayed to see that I obviously have to install the 2 GB memory upgrade that I ordered.  When I'm ready to install it, I will contact HP technical support.  I'm interested in the big picture right now.  The laptop has installed Windows Xp and Vista, stored on the hard drive.  No matter if I use the new laptop for, say, from the user's manual before as I have added additional memory, or is it better not to use the laptop until I have all of the memory (2 GB original and 2 GB upgrade) in place.  I hope that this process will be no more complicated than to install an ethernet card in a years office 5 or 6.  Where can I get good screwdriver to open the module compartment memory?  From my experience, it is easy band, the head of a screw phillips, especially a small head, if there is no appropriate screwdriver.  I'd appreciate any idea on these issues.

    I don't think that no matter how long you use it before you install the memory. Regarding the screwdriver, I use a 41678 artisan to work on laptops with screws Phillips. It could cost $ 1.69 at any Sears and any tech tools for perhaps $15 will be a very similar small Phillips. You will know if you are stripping it, so stop everything. Memory installation is much easier than to put a PCI on a desk. Relax its all good.

  • WRT54G v.5 will remain not connected to the new laptop / Windows 7 Premium

    WRT54G v.5 will remain not connected to the new laptop / Windows 7 Premium. It works continuously with a cycle detection, connection, loss of connection; detection, connection, loss of connection, etc... The router works through this cycle, basically acting as if I disconnected and then reconnected to the power to reset, it disrupts my Internet connection to my Wired iMac and wireless, another office to the floor. Paid for Linksys support today and through remote access, he put up a new network on my desktop (iMac). After finishing, the problem still exists. When I told him that the problem had not been corrected, he said just wait an hour or two and it should work itself. She, of course, did not himself. Any ideas out there?

    Nevermind - I seem to have solved the problem with a simple firmware. Funny how the Linksys technician support don't think to ask what version of the router I have or suggest that I should try to upgrade firmware first. However, he is quite good at trying to upsell me for a new router instead of trying to help me solve the problem I had. It makes me want to go buy Netgear next time, thanks a lot!

    I do not know. The answer depends on what's wrong with the old.

    Can I do this using a USB Flash drive?

    # If you can not start the old laptop, you cannot transfer files from it
    to the USB.

    If the problem with the old laptop isn't that hard drive has
    has failed (and that's a big 'if'), you can pull the hard drive.
    and get an external USB enclosure. Having done this, you can read
    It is on the new laptop and copy files from it.

    How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their way of doing recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Hello everyone, I had to order a laptop for school. But it is still not there, so I had to install windows 7 and office 2010 on my old computer at home to do my school work. When my laptop is here, can I reinstall XP on my old computer and put my copy of windows 7 on the new laptop? Or is the product key now linked to my old computer?
    If you have purchased commercial versions, then you're OK.
    If you have bought OEM Windows 7 and activated, then the license is locked to the old PC (although you might try to discuss your case with MS)
